Thinking of having that special someone over for AFTERNOON DELIGHTS on the Fourth of July? You bet that you can enjoy a few simple American treats with your Delight! Simple and memorable, too!
First, buy a few good ol’ American hot dogs (or sausages) and buy 2-3 different mustards. Brown, honey, or gourmet. Also purchase 2 or 3 independent label beers that you have never tried before. Dark, hoppy or light, perhaps imported. Buy a package of…yes…buns.
Just before your Firecracker arrives, crush 2-3 large fresh garlic cloves and a handful of basil and mint, then in a blender add in olive oil to make a thick sauce. Coat the insides of your rolls with the garlic mix and either toast them in the oven or…yes, light your fire on your grill. The aroma will lift to the air. Grill your sausages too. Cut into bite size pieces and cut up your rolls into a size useful to pick up and feed to each other.
Before your Delight arrives, spray the air with a lavender scent. Decorate your serving plate with sprigs of mint and serve your bite size morsels on a pretty plate.
When your Delight arrives, put out some fresh pickles, a side of fresh blueberries and do have on hand a fresh can of already whipped heavy cream.
As the afternoon gets hotter, cool down by feeding each other the berries, one by one, and finding new and intersting places to use that chilled whipped cream!
Ciao, bella!
