I once saw a man in a hotel lobby who was so perfect looking, he didn’t seem real. He made me feel uneasy. He looked fake, and I didn’t quite trust him.
Imagine this man is a machine, an android. He only has the facial expressions programmed for him. He doesn’t experience emotions. He never sleeps. And his face is perfect. Yeah, that’s even more creepy.
Being imperfect is part of the human experience. Every scar and wrinkle on our faces tells a story. They reveal a bit of our pasts. They assure others that we’ve endured and that we will continue to endure. We trust imperfections.
So if we wish to make androids look human, they have to be imperfect. Random imperfections might work, IF they are done well. But that requires skill.
In my stories (Mission Menage, Savage Menage, and Unleashed Menage), the designers take an easier route, solving this problem by basing their androids on real people, imperfections and all. They give the androids scars and cowlicks and, in the case of Unleashed Menage, a glass eye.
Of course, then they have manufactured android clones of real people. These real people have a machine-like twin somewhere in the universes.
If I had an android twin, I’d never do housework again. I’d have the cleanest house on the block. I’d also send my android to the day job to work while I stayed home, wrote and ate Nutella by the spoonful.
In Mission Menage, Savage Menage, and Unleashed Menage, the androids are used for more serious matters. The Federation is in a war with the Balazoids and having android twins of their top operative comes in handy, both for the Federation and for the women loving these sexy men.
If you had an android twin, what would you do?

Prison escapee Traz captures Falyn, the most foolishly trusting and overtly sexual female he has ever met. The exotic future-bender isn’t destined for him. She’s to take his beloved sister’s place, becoming a merciless assassin’s sexual slave.
Traz restrains Falyn, binding her wrists to the merc ship’s walls. When she convinces him to strip her and take his pleasure from her willing body, Traz indulges again and again, fervently trying to sate himself before they reach the rendezvous point.
Falyn escaped her luxurious prison with her companion android, only to be taken prisoner by Traz, the man she is destined to love. The scarred criminal gives her the pain she needs and the passion she desires, using her android to make all but one of her secret dreams come true—the dream of being loved forever.

Thank you SO much for having me here at your online home, Kate!!!
Here, have a comment…
There is a little-known work, called, Gilbert & Sullivan Meets Captain Future, or Alas, Who Loves a Spaceman?” with lyrics which include
“Oh pity, pity me, Curt Newton’s sweetheart she
“And I, a sexless android!”
I don’t think it’s anywhere on the web, even though it’s not a commercial property…
“We are the Futuremen, in the prozines we’ve not equals
“Produced by Hamilton, in an endless chain of sequels.
“When adventure we find of any kind
“We’re slaves of the plot all day
“We have evil to fight morning noon and night
“Without any time for play…”
“Two tender babes I nursed
“On milk and on albumin,
“My master’s child the first
“The other was nonhuman…”
LOL
Those are awesome lyrics, Paula.
Human is such a challenging word to rhyme to, also.
