Describe yourself in three sentences or less.
The hardest lazy worker on the planet. I treat others the way I want to be treated, and I hate wasted time.
When did you know you wanted to be a romance author?
I always wanted to write stories for fun, as a kid. But when I was 12 and read Johanna Lindsey’s A Gentle Feuding, I knew I wanted to write romance.
What are your favorite subgenres of romance?
I love erotic romance in all genres, and I’m partial to good science fiction and paranormal romance. Not so much vampires though.
Tell us your top three qualities needed to make a romance hero.
Strong, snarky, and having true, all encompassing love for his eventual partner.
If you were a shapeshifter and could become any one item owned by your latest romance hero, what would it be?
Hmm, interesting question. I’d like to be his shapeshifting heroine, because he “owns” her. 🙂
Tell us three fictional characters you find hot.
They can be from books, movies, or TV. Sam Winchester from Supernatural, Eric from True Blood, The Rock–man, he’s hot!
What is your latest or upcoming Ellora’s Cave release?
I’m currently working on drafting a rough outline for a new Voiders book, a story about Tommy Chen, who runs the Tombs, the criminal underground in Cross Step, Kansas. He’s bad ass, and when he finds out his supposedly dead fiancee is actually alive, he’ll move heaven and earth to find her. Unfortunately, she finds him first, and she bears a pretty hard grudge. She captures him and ties him up, but before she can plan her revenge, he escapes. And the tables are turned…
Please give us one sexy or romantic paragraph from your latest Ellora’s Cave book.
This is from my latest release: Talson’s Match…
The following excerpt is for readers 18 and over.
The more he stared at her, the faster her heart raced. An almost drugging sexual hunger seemed to fill her, and she had to work to shake off the erotic sensation. First the bathroom, now this? What the hell was wrong with her?She took a hasty step back and fought the desire turning her nipples into visible beads of arousal. She crossed her arms with a belligerence the stranger couldn’t miss, while inwardly she sighed. What a waste.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on Entranced, a psychic romance for Loose Id concerning a character I introduced in one of my Circ (shapeshifter) books. Jack Keiser finally gets his happy ending. I’m so excited to give him one, because he’s been kind of a tortured hero, and he can assume another identity as will, which I think is really cool. Plus he’s freakin’ huge, muscles on top of muscles, and, well, I’m getting carried away. Needless to say, I like this particular hero.

Hi Marie. I remember a couple of Talson books whemn they out before. Did you expand them? More books in the series?

I have to agree with Marie–werewolves rock! Just the cover of the book looks hot–can’t wait to read it!
Great interview and excerpt; both were great reads. I know what I am adding to my must have list.
I love snarky heroes, too! LOL

Joanna Lindsey was one of my first romance books as well. Another fun interview.

Hey Cathie. I originally had 3 books in the series with a fourth written, but then Venus Press (my publisher at the time) went under. I completely rewrote Talson’s Wait, and extensively revised the second two. Then polished off the fourth and subbed them to EC. I also have plans for at least 2 more books, for characters mentioned in the stories (the Yal brothers, Quinn and Manny.)
Michelle: yeah, EC has nice covers! And you have to love a pack mentality with just one woman in the middle. 🙂
Tracey: Glad you liked the interview. Snarky is fun, I agree.
why is “all of the above” so seldom an option for questions LOL I don’t know if I could pick. Although the menage … oh yeah … any day of the week.
and Johanna Lindsay’s A Gentle Feuding … OMG … I still have my copy of it, battered and worn as it is. I still LOVE that book 🙂
Ive recently had the luck to read some of Marie Harte’s books. I feel in love with the Talson series 🙂 Oh and Rachels Totem was beyond amazing! The cover for Namesake Rocks!

I’ve loved Ellora’s Cave for a while now and have never read anything from them that I didn’t love. You are a new author for me and I look forward to reading your work. It was nice to learn some things about you from the interview.
