J. S. Wayne
What’s your favorite autumn treat?
Hot apple cider with a generous slug of whiskey, stirred with a cinnamon stick. YUM!
Do you celebrate Halloween? If you do, what are some of your favorite traditions or activities?
I always celebrate Samhain (I prefer the Old Gaelic name for it), with the exception of two Halloweens ago. My favorite tradition is dressing up as Eric Draven from The Crow and going out.
What’s the sexiest paranormal creature?
This is a tough one! The easy answer would be a succubus (female sexual demon), but I think the sexiest is probably a Siren. There are so many options with them!
If the hero or heroine in your latest novel was thrust into a classic horror story, which one would it be and why?
Hmm…Dutch would probably end up in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow because he lives in New York City, only about half an hour from the town of the same name.
J.S. is the author of Sock it to Me.

Blurb:
New York City Homicide Detective “Dutch” Grunhauer and his partner Grace Mendoza have been working a case for the last thirty-six hours straight. All Dutch wants when he finally gets home is a minimum six hours sleep. But that plan flies out the window when he spots an intruder under his bed. The seriously ugly creature isn’t human… and it has a seriously sexy, practically naked green-haired accomplice. With wings.
The Faerie and her pet — which appears to be the unholy offspring of a crocodile and a dingo — are looking for lost socks. Because they got caught, the Faerie has to grant Dutch one wish. But, as with all such wishes, there’s a rather large catch. Dutch has three days to decide what he wants. Otherwise he, most of the people who share his Upper East Side walk-up, and the building itself could cease to exist.
Dutch knows Grace will never believe he’s seeing Faeries in his apartment… And as if things aren’t complicated enough, the Faerie’s presence is doing uncomfortable things to his sense of professional boundaries. After three years, he’s finally noticed his partner’s a woman — and one of the hottest women in the department. Dutch knows he’d better be careful what — or who — he wishes for!

I loved the previews you gave this story on the Changeling loop, JS. I bet the book is fabulous! We celebrate Samahin, too. My daughter and I make bean runes and cast them, leave a treat out for our ancestors and have a fire pit. Since she’s only 7 she also goes trick-or-treating with Dad while I hand out candy. 😉
Thank you, Sara! I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. There’s a lot to be said for letting the madness out every once in a while… 😉
I love the feeling of Samhain, the crisp feel of the air, the ghouls and ghosts of every size, shape, and description running through the streets, and the otherworldly shimmer of the night on my skin. The bean runes sound fun…how do you do that? (Never been much good with runes. Tarot cards, OTOH… 😀 )
Thanks for leaving a pawprint. I hope you have a wonderful Samhain! 😀
Great post. I really wish I liked apple cider. In all honesty, apple cider does not like me either.
What an interesting blurb for your book… you have my attention!
Thank you, Debra. 🙂
Sorry to hear cider doesn’t agree with you. It’s a very “autumn” kind of drink to me, but a hot toddy with good Scotch will do in a pinch.
Thanks for stopping by! 😀
Thanks, Colleen! 😀 I hope you enjoy it!
Oooh, I love apple cider! And LOL–Dutch’s life suddenly became infinitely more interesting and complicated, didn’t it? 🙂 Thanks for sharing the blurb, JS!
*Grins*
I LOVE putting my characters through Hell…makes it more fun watching them get to the other side! (Yes, I really am a sadistic bastard. 😉 )
Thanks for stopping in!
The characters sound interesting

I actually prefer iced apple cider over hot apple cider, though both are good. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, bn! I like creating characters that make people say, “I want to know more about this person.” Shows me I’m doing something right!
Thanks for playing!
LOL You know, I don’t think I’ve ever had apple cider iced before. Filing that under my “Things To Try” list. 😀
Thank YOU for being a part of the party!
Awesome blurb and excerpt J.S. 🙂
I never tried apple cider and whiskey together but it sounds yummy.
