Good morning! I missed last week’s newsletter, so I have some catching up to do. 🙂 I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season! I’m just about done with my holiday shopping, which isn’t bad for me since I usually wait until the very last minute.
This week I’m starting off with a contest to get into the holiday spirit. The first five people to respond to this newsletter by sending an email to katehill (at) sprintmail.com with Holidays 2014 in the subject line will receive a free download of St. Augustine’s Silhouettes.
Now for some news. 🙂
Several fantastic guests have recently stopped by my blog. Check out the links below. Also a couple of my recent titles have been reviewed. The links are included in this newsletter.
This week’s excerpt is from my latest release Oh My Deer. I hope you enjoy it.
Happy holidays, everyone!
Kate

Excerpt of the Week: Oh My Deer
Fleet started to rise, but Jake stood and placed his hands on his shoulders. It didn’t take much effort for him to push Fleet down. “Go where? You need to heal. I understand the need for privacy, but I can’t help being curious. Shapeshifters from the legends can be pretty mean. You can’t blame me for wanting to know more.”
“Do I seem mean?” Fleet gazed up at him with those huge blue eyes.
Right. He looked about as mean as a good-natured puppy. However, as the old saying went, looks could be deceiving. Fleet was injured. He needed Jake’s help so acting nasty wouldn’t be wise.
Despite his caution, Jake didn’t believe Fleet was trying to trick him at all. Another old saying was the eyes are the mirror to the soul. Jake had always been a good judge of character. He trusted a man who wasn’t afraid to look into his eyes, and Fleet was such a man — even when he’d been in animal form.
“You can’t blame me for being curious,” Jake said. “It’s not every day I meet a creature of legend. I wish my grandfather was still around to see this.”
“You’re going to tell others about me?”
“Don’t worry. You’re safe here. I won’t talk. Like I said before. No one would believe me anyway.”
Fleet glanced past Jake to the coffee table. “Can I have some of those pancakes? They smell so good. That’s why I woke up.”
Jake chuckled and reached for the plate. He put it on Fleet’s lap and was about to return to his chair when the shifter grasped his wrist. His hand was warm now and his skin felt good against Jake’s.
