When you’re brainstorming for a new story, what usually comes first for you, the plot or the characters?
The characters almost always come first. I start all ideas with “What if there was this guy?”
Are you a plotter or a pantser?
I used to be pure pantser. Now I have what they call beat sheets, and I do index cards for scenes and all. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
Where do you find inspiration for your stories?
Everywhere. I eavesdrop a lot. I stare. I think about people rubbing together.
What do you like best about writing menage?
I love the dynamic. It’s more of a challenge, making three people fit.
I love anticipation. I love those moments when they can’t keep their hands off each other but must for the sake of the plot.
Would you tell us about your latest release?
My latest release is my first Samhaim ebook. It’s a long novella called Book of Love, an MMF menage about a magical, porny old book. The book brings together a small town Colorado baker and two studly paranormal experts.
Here’s the official blurb and link!
Dark magic draws them together, but they’re generating sparks all on their own.
Culper, Colorado, is a one-everything town. One stoplight. One post office-slash-pawn shop-slash-bakery. And one bookstore, which Shiloh volunteers to watch while the owner is on vacation. It’s a nice change of pace to her lonely life.
While perusing the shelves, Shiloh finds a book that contains some shockingly naughty illustrations. When all sorts of mystical disasters start happening, Shiloh is sure they’re somehow connected to the book. But by then it’s too late to simply put it back on the shelf.
Liam and Elijah’s response to the town’s call for help is a first. Their first paranormal case, and their first in-person meeting. They’re longtime online friends with a common interest in the unexplainable, but they’re shocked by the sparks that fly, not only between the two of them, but between them and Shiloh.
Somehow the book’s dark magic is not only the catalyst, but is also feeding off their sexual attraction. They must work together to figure out how to put the escaped entity back where it belongs—before it closes the book on their budding relationship.
Product Warnings
Contains wild acts of sexual magic, a porny old book about demons, and a threesome where the boys touch each other as well as their woman.

What are you working on now?
Right now I’m working on a MMF femmedom about undercover cops. I love femmedom right now. It make me all tingly. I’d tell you more about it, but it’s a series and I would have to give too much away!
Do you have a favorite character or characters you feel especially close to?
All of them! Seriously though, the Thatchers from Jumping Into Things are near and dear to me, as long ago as I wrote them.
If you could step into one of your books, which one would it be?
Hmmm. Maybe Book of Love. No harm ever came from reading a book? Hah! I love when words have power.
Would you tell us about yourself?
I’ve worked in books and magazines for 30 years. I started transcribing 1800s newspapers when I was 15. Library jobs, magazine distribution, and publishing have all been jobs, but now I write full time. I love my wife, BA Tortuga, my two bassets, and my crazy, colorful house in the high desert of New Mexico.
What are your favorite genres to read and write?
Paranormal and historical, hands down.
Where can we visit you online?
www.juliatalbot.com There you can find my blog, Twitter and Facebook.
When you’re not writing, what do you like to do?
Read. Paint. Knit. Hike with the dogs. Travel. Do all the things!
How long have you been writing?
Lord. Since I was 12. I wrote a story on how to power the world with popcorn. It went nowhere.
Where would you go on your dream vacation?
Hrm. Right now my bucket list is Germany as I’ve not been there, but I love Rome.
What is the last movie you watched?
Jurassic World! Owen. Mmmm.
What is your favorite comfort food?
Spaghetti and meatballs. Or falafel.
Do you have any pets?
A boy and girl basset. Lots of ears and drool.
Hugs. Thanks so much Kate, for letting me come play today. I really appreciate it!
