What are your favorite genres to read and write?
I have always loved contemporary romance, romantic suspense, historical romance and paranormals. I really got into regency romance as a favorite read when my husband and I decided to move from New Hampshire to North Carolina to be near family. After settling in, I joined the local chapter of Romance Writers of America. The first meeting I attended was held at a private home and was the night of their annual Christmas holiday party. Lucky me! Even better, our hostess was Liz Carlyle! She is a prolific New York Times best seller and I owned several of her historical romances. I was in my element, especially when introduced to many other well-known authors, published in every genre imaginable. They made me feel welcome and helped me turn my dream into a reality…and become a published author.
To you what type of hero/heroine is the hottest?
I like my hero flawed, physically or emotionally. Give me scars and wounds. Give me a man suffering after the death of a loved one. Give me a man who loves his family over all others. Give me someone, like Draco in DRAGON’S CURSE, who was accused of a crime he did not commit. Show me a heroine who deals with stress, horror, ruthless men, and still comes out smelling like a rose. Give me a woman who sees beyond a pretty face…or a horrible scar. Give me a woman like Brianna Macleod who strives to find the good in a man of mystery and incredible sadness. When these types come together in a heated kiss…or more…it rocks my world!
Share one of the sexiest or romantic lines from one of your books.
“Men like me? Ye have ne’er met a man like me, love.” This is spoken by Draco when Brianna has no idea he shape-shifts into a fire-breathing dragon. She is in for a rude awakening!
Speaking as one of your characters, describe in a sentence or two what makes your partner irresistible.
Let me preface my answer with a short paragraph from Brianna’s point of view, in DRAGON’S CURSE: Coming home. This was how his lips made her feel. Complete and loved. His tongue circled her lips, and then pressed against her teeth. She gladly opened. Sensuous heat, pleasurable ripples, and the tangy taste of cider made her head spin. I use all the senses to give my story life. Draco and Brianna’s world is a desolate, colorless, Scottish island so the smell of the sea and the tang of salty air is what competes with how she describes Draco.

My debut paranormal, DRAGON’S CURSE, is historical in nature because it is set in 1592. But, it is much more. I researched Scottish historical events then used the real massacre of four-hundred inhabitants of the isle of Eigg in order to give my hero a difficult background. I set most of my story on an uninhabited island off the west coast of Scotland. A dead witch cursed my hero, Draco Macdonald, with the ability to shift from human into a dragon…at inopportune times. Since he cannot control the change, he has a bit of a problem with relationships. Brianna Macleod has the gift of premonition. A gift her guardian keeps secret. She arrives on Draco’s island with a hunting party and nearly drowns while gathering driftwood on the treeless hunk of land. What follows is this:
Sometimes a special gift and an unwanted curse cannot keep destined lovers apart.
Brianna Macleod has accompanied a shipload of her guardian’s friends to a remote island off the coast of Scotland. She eludes these Highland hunters to keep her innocence…and her gift of sight. Her attitude against falling for womanly desires changes when she nearly drowns. Saved by the talons of a terrifying winged beast, she awakens—naked—in a cave, beside an unusual man.
Cursed by a vengeful witch to transform into a dragon at inopportune times, Draco MacDonald hides on this deserted island to live alone: until he plucks a servant girl from certain death. Fueled by jealousy, and tempered by fear for her safety, he succumbs to an unfamiliar desire to mate. Her kisses propel him to dare to make her his own.
Set in 1592 Scotland on the Scottish island of Staffa, the cursed hero battles a ghostly witch, a hunter set on rape, and his own growing desire for a young woman with premonitions of his death.
Her kisses propel him to dare to make her his own.
