What do you feel are some of the pros and cons of epublishing?
What if I said they’re the same thing? The great thing about epublishing is the simplicity and ease of uploading a book so everyone can do it. But should everyone be doing it? Another great thing is it’s made so many books available. But the downside of that is there are a lot of low-quality books out there. Epublishing shook up the establishment of publishing, which needed a good shake. But it also created a lot of turmoil in the marketplace. It’s great that readers have so many choices. But it’s harder for readers to make those choices, and sometimes to find quality reading material. Epublishing gave back a lot of control to authors, but at the same time authors have to work very hard to get their books in front of readers because there’s so much competition. It’s a conundrum.
Would you tell us about your latest release?
WHAT A RICH WOMAN WANTS is #4 in the Braddock Brotherhood which started with A MONTH FROM MIAMI. The books are connected to each other but they are stand-alone reads. In book four, former gang member turned sheriff’s deputy Niko meets wealthy CEO Lesley and their quid pro quo relationship turns into something much deeper and very hot! P.S. I have a code my publisher gave me for 30% off if you buy all four books in the series. Use one of the contact links below and I’ll give you the code AND a bonus!
What are you working on now?
Watch for FANTASY MAN releasing in February 2016 on which I’m about to begin edits. Next up, (I hope) is a romantic comedy entitled CLEO’S WEB. Meanwhile, I’m polishing up ANIMAL, a unique modern-day twist on the classic Beauty and the Beast.
I’m never happy unless I’ve got three or four projects going at once.
What makes the hero of Niko Morales hot?
Oh, my gosh. I LOVE this guy. He’s overcome a lot getting out of gang life by testifying against his childhood friend. Giving up his child to keep him safe. Changing his entire life by joining law enforcement. He reads to learn because he had no opportunity for higher education. He loves kids and he wants to change things for the ones who might follow the same path he did. He’s a great foil for wealthy, privileged Lesley. (Niko first appeared in Book #2, A FOREVER KIND OF GUY.)
Do you have a favorite character or characters you feel especially close to?
I love all my heroes especially, but my favorites are Ray and Trey. Ray is the hero in A FOREVER KIND OF GUY. He’s always one step ahead of the heroine, but he’s so loyal and steady, not to mention hot, that I fell a little in love with him. Trey also appears in that book, but he gets his own story in THE FIRST TIME AGAIN. He’s an ex pro quarterback overcoming addiction and I had to give him a chance at redemption. He struggles but he gets there. I love a guy who won’t give up.
Do you prefer writing your heroes, your heroines or do you like writing both equally?
Oh, heroes definitely. I don’t know why but I always can picture them better than the heroines. There is a joke in our family when I commented to my mother-in-law early in my writing career that I based all of my heroes on my husband. “Maybe that’s why they’re not selling,” she quipped. Well, it took awhile but they sell now! I love men who are smart, funny, loyal, honest and hot! Oh, and good in bed.
Would you tell us about yourself?
When I’m not writing I work part-time for a global coffee company, so look for me in Central Florida wearing my green apron. I’m still married to husband number one and I have two grown children who are also two of my best friends. I am also mom to a nearly perfect black Lab mix named Pepper. I’m a member of Novelists, Inc., and Florida Writers Association.
