Fantasy is something we all need in our lives, whether it’s what you’d do with your millions in Powerball winnings or what you’d like to do with the hot guy at the end of the bar.
It’s a way to say ‘What if. . .’ and then give your imagination have free rein.
If you’re a writer, erotic romance presents the opportunity for all types of exotic situations and extreme pleasure.
As a reader, I want to be taken out of my daily life and immersed in a world where pleasure is paramount.
I’ve been a romance reader since I first discovered Harlequin Presents as a preteen. I quickly moved on to Bertrice Small and Kathleen Woodiwiss, never realizing I was starting a life-long journey that would culminate in my own career as a romance writer.
I’ve actually published two sweet romances under another name and though I’m just as proud of those stories as I am my erotic romances, hot is where it’s at for me.
In erotic romance, there are so many possibilities for pleasure. When I conceived of the Magical Seduction series, I knew I wanted to explore as many erotic situations as I could.
My first six stories are straight male/female, the bread and butter of romance.
But for the seventh, I wanted to branch out, push the boundaries.
So a ménage was definitely in the cards.
As a reader, I love the ultimate fantasy presented by ménage. Two (or more) hot guys dedicated to the pleasure of one woman, how could that be bad?
In “Seduced by Two,” Nica Donato meets Tanner and Jensen Miller and, though she doesn’t realize at first what’s in store for her, she embraces the adventure. And the brothers.
As a strega, an Etruscan witch, Nica is a descendent of the once-mighty Etruscan magical civilization. She controls a powerful magic that must be kept hidden from the non-magical world.
She’s also about to take her mother’s place in their boschetta (coven) and give up all notion of a normal life. She’s looking for a release, an escape, when she walks into that bar.
And she finds the ultimate pleasure and the ultimate romance with two men.
That meant two hot heroes for me to create. Two strong men with very different personalities, both of whom need compelling reasons to share the same woman.
For me, a ménage is a like a teeter-totter, with a man on either side and a woman balancing in the middle. It’s quite a ride when you get all the logistics worked out.
And an ultimate fantasy.
So what’s yours?
Stephanie Julian is the author of the Magical Seduction series, beginning with Seduced by Magic and continuing with Seduced by Two, releasing June 26 from Ellora’s Cave. She’s a writer with a reading problem, though some days, it’s the other way around. Her series has gotten great reviews, which you can see on her website at www.stephaniejulian.com.

I’m currently glued to Seduced by Magic but I most definitely will have to get Seduced by Two (take that any way you like it) later in the month. Steph, you absolutely amaze me.
My ultimate fantasy would have to involve a ’69 Chevelle SS and Keifer Sutherland in a baseball jersey. Oh my. (‘scuse me while I hyperventilate…)
I’m glad you’re enjoying MAGIC, Carla.
And that’s not a bad fantasy except swap out Keifer for Jensen Ackles for me. The car can definitely stay.
I really enjoy menage, too. My ultimate fantasy usually involves something paranromal and I usually like bad boys, but I think to me the most important part of the fantasy is the love and trust between the characters. It can be between just two characters or it can be a menage, but if the strong emotions are there, that’s the ultimate fantasy to me. 🙂
Hello Stephanie, I just bought your book, Seduced by Magic. I’ll get back to you when I finish reading and your next one sounds like I want to check that out also.
I love to read and get into the mind of the author and her/his creativity. I write but no fiction and when I respond to a story, it is always from the reader’s viewpoint. I judge a story on how it makes me feel while I’m reading it and when I finish whether I want to read it again and does that experience make me want to check out more of that author’s work.
I like menages in all the combinations. Don’t know if I have the nerve to try one myself but I can “live” through the characters of these special books. I’ve even read one that has four men to one woman. Hubba, hubba. LOL Keep stretching yourself. I’lll enjoy checking out how far and where you go. Thanks for the blog. I enjoyed reading and responding to it. Mo
Kate, emotion is the underpinning of all romance. Fantasy is wonderful but you need the emotion to make it work.
Mo, thank you so much for trying my stories. And thanks for stopping by and commenting. Please let me know what you think of Justin and Scarlata. They were such fun to write.
