Do you remember being a kid on Halloween? Lots of planning went into finding the perfect costume. Maybe you’d grab a pillowcase, plastic pumpkin, or bag to go out trick or treating, but it wasn’t so much the candy that made the night fun. It was the adventure.

Halloween was and is a time for dressing up, having fun, and getting scared. Growing older, sometimes the sense of adventure fades, but as long as there is imagination, there is excitement and a story to be told.

This year the theme for the Halloween Page is “on a cold, dark night.” Each author has been presented with the first half of a sentence that starts with “on a cold, dark night” and asked to complete it. They’re offering the beginnings of stories that range from scary to funny to put you in the mood for the season. This year we hope to inspire you with these ideas and continue the tradition of Halloween being a night of adventure.
