EXCERPT FROM LUST AND THE DAMNED
POLLS
REVIEWSHi, Everyone!
This month I'm thrilled to announce that Cryptic Trysts has been accepted for publication by Ellora's Cave. Last year I had placed a poll on this site asking you to vote for where the wedding in this book (then titled Cryptic Passions) should take place. You voted for the eastern European castle, so that is where the wedding at the end of the story takes place. I don't have a release date for Cryptic Trysts yet, but once I do, I'll include it in the monthly newsletter.
I'm pleased to have Marteeka Karland as this month's guest author. Marteeka has written several spicy stories for Changeling Press. Read more about her and her work in the interview below.
Congratulations to Lori from the US for winning the Chieftain's Bride contest on my website. Thanks to everyone who entered and check back soon for a new contest at http://www.kate-hill.com/co.html
Also, for anyone who prefers paperbacks, the Ellora's Cave anthologies By Honor Bound and Forever Midnight are now available in paperback.
Feel free to drop me an email at katehill@sprintmail.com or katehill2@yahoo.com with any questions or comments.
Have a great month!

Sating the Lust God
From Changeling Press
http://www.changelingpress.comEternal life -- and eternal torture.
Forever young, forever strong, forever bound to their temple -- a cult of Vampire priests, sustained by the blood of their god.
The Great Chand, God of Lust, Ruler of Fertility and Death. Punished by his fellow gods for his insatiable appetite for sex, sentenced to eternity in the Netherworld, separated from all he once cherished. Each year the priests summon the Lust God, who takes over Kabirs body. Chands promise, eternal life in exchange for a week of freedom. For a hundred years Chand has kept his promise. A taste of his blood each year keeps the priests alive and almost godlike themselves, but at a terrible price.
For a hundred years Kabir has withstood the ritual, hosting the gods terrible lusts, suffered through ecstasy and horror such as no man should endure. There is but one way to break the curse. A mortal woman must fall in love with both Chand and Kabir. After more than a century, Kabir believes he has finally found such a woman. Tamanna fears neither man. But does she have the strength and compassion to love and accept two such opposite mates?

GUEST AUTHOR MARTEEKA KARLAND
KH: What inspires your ideas for characters?
MK: I go with whats sexy to me. I like strong (literally and figuratively) male characters. So my men tend to be big and brawny and a bit abrasive to everyone but the heroine. When he gets all ruff and ugly with her, she gets ruff and ugly back. J My heroines tend to be a mix. I like the seemingly mousy woman who turns into a bottle rocket when she gets emotional. But sometimes, (like in SEALED WITH A KISS) shes a spitfire from the get-go. Khan, in FORBIDDEN was inspired by my husband to a certain extent. What can I say? I married my hero. J
KH: What do you like best about writing romances?
MK: You mean besides sex? J The emotion. I love emotional stories. I like to feel uncomfortable when someone is embarrassed, or shy, or angry, or hurt. When theyre happy, I like to feel the same thing. If a story can make you laugh out loud, or you have to wipe a tear from your cheek, then its a story I like to read. What could be more emotional than romance? OK, maybe EROTIC romance. :P
KH: Would you tell us about your latest release?
MK: Its called BORN ON THE 4TH OF JULY and its part of the Changeling Firecrackers. Yes, its contemporary, but hey! Its a Fourth of July story! J Theres explosive characters with explosive personalities having explosive arguments AND explosive sex.
KH: Would you tell us about your upcoming projects?
MK: Ive contracted the first of a series Im calling the Elementals. This book is called God of Fire and I hope to have it in my editors inbox by the time this interview is published. J This book has gods and goddesses and super volcanoes and Im SOOO excited about it!
KH: If you could meet one of your characters, which one would it be?
MK: Kiril! Definitely! Hes the perfect man as far as Im concerned. AND hes HUNKY!
KH: To you, what makes a great romance hero?
MK: umm.. he has to be a MAN! J Seriously, I think any man has it in him to be a great romance hero. You just have to embellish a little every now and then.
KH: Do you have a website and/or email address where readers can reach you?
MK: Oh yes! www.marteekakarland.com and you can join my yahoo group at marteekakarland-subscribe@yahoogroups.com and my e-mail address is mkarland@net-power.net Thanks for having me!
KH: Thanks, Marteeka!
UNEDITED EXCERPT FROM LUST AND THE DAMNED BY KATE HILL
Coming Soon from Changeling PressYou may leave now, Ambrose Brooks. We wont stop you, but you will not find us again, should you look. Or you may stay and learn everything we have to teach. Unimaginable things. Some wonderful, others horrible. Decide now, Apollo stated.
What kind of choice is that? You make it sound like Ill be missing the opportunity of a lifetime if I leave, yet giving up my soul if I stay.
When people enter into a relationship, they do give up part of their soul.
What sort of relationship?
Apollo moved so quickly that he even startled Mansi. One moment he was squatting calmly by the fire, and the next he had pinned Ambrose to the door, his sapphire gaze fixed on the slighter mans, his fangs exposed.
A relationship deeper than friendship. Powerful. Binding.
What in Gods name are you?

EXCERPT FROM GOD OF THE GRIM BY KATE HILL
Coming Soon from Ellora's CaveMatthew! Dulcie spoke into his ear. Her lips brushed his cheek. Matthew!
He opened his eyes and stared into her beautiful face. Their naked bodies were entangled on the bed of black silk. Her legs felt sleek and smooth against his. The softness of her breasts flattened against his chest. He embraced her tightly.
Dulcie! I miss you so much. I need you, my love. How true his words were. Between grief, frustration, anger and guilt, he felt on the verge of insanity.
Matthew, Im so afraid this is another dream. I dont want to let you go!
You either. Nuzzling her neck, he smoothed his palms over her shoulders and back, relishing the sensation of her skin and inhaling her scent. Love and desire clutched him in an unbreakable grip. His cock swelled, pressing against her belly.
Dulcie straddled him, leaning forward and covering his chest with kisses. She inched lower, her tongue and hair lashing his belly. She licked his navel and used her fangs to gently nip his hips.
Clasping his cock in both hands, she took the head into her mouth and laved it with her tongue. The very tip of one fang pricked the tiny hole and Matthew gasped, his entire body tense as his heart slammed against his ribs. It had been so, so long!
She began sucking him deeply into her warm, wet mouth. His cock brushed her throat and her fangs scraped the rods velvety flesh.
A low moan, then a growl escaped his throat. Burying his hands in her hair, he tightened his buttocks as he tried to keep his hips from thrusting hard. As she withdrew her lips, cool air fanned his saliva-slicked cock. She knelt above him, grasped his staff and lowered her pussy, hot and drenched with her juices, onto it.
Matthew gazed at her through half-open eyes as she rocked upon him, her fingers stroking his flat belly. Her hair hung thick and dark down her back. Those full, beautiful breasts thrust forward, bouncing as she rode him. Matthew rested a hand on her waist while he used the other to fondle those smooth, warm globes and caress the rose-colored nipples.
A sudden shift of his hips and she sprawled on the bed beside him, purring catlike, her fangs exposed as she watched him through eyes glowing with passion. Wrapping an arm around her waist, he hauled her to her knees. He grasped her hips and thrust into her from behind.
Oh, Matthew! Yes, yes, yes! How Ive missed this!
He growled, thrusting into her hard and fast in an attempt to sate their almost painful desire.
Extending a hand for her to bite, he lowered his mouth to her shoulder. His fangs slid into her flesh and the taste of her blood flung him into orgasm.

GUEST AUTHOR RENEI GEORGE
KH: Your Beast series with Changeling Press features two intriguing male vampires. What inspires your characters and plotlines?
RG: I feel a little silly answering this question, because my characters create themselves, or at least seemingly create themselves. I generally start a work with a sentence or a phrase in mind, then my characters jump in and take it from there. They are the main driving force in my writing. Once they take control, the plot is formed around them. With Nathan and Guillermo, they certainly took charge of the story and where it would lead. That's what I get for letting two alpha vampires run around in my brain.
KH: How many books will be in the Beast series, and do you have any plans for a spinoff series?
RG: I am working on number three, in between other projects. I figure as long as the boys have a story to tell, I will continue the series. I've thought about spinoffs, since I love the location (Kansas City) and the underworld of characters formed there. A spinoff series is definitely not out of the question.
KH: Would you tell us about your latest release?
RG: "The Beast 2: Eat Your Heart Out" is the continuing story of Doctor Nathan Greer and Guillermo Perez. It was released in June 2005. Nathan is having a seriously bad week. First, his ex-fianci returns to Kansas City, then his mother is trying to set him up with a "nice girl," his lover, Guillermo, has suddenly grown cold towards him, and to top it all off, someone is going around the city killing vampires. I loved writing this sequel in the series. The mystery, action, and romance were a lot of fun to conceive and the boys are always a lot of fun to play with. Currently, I have a novella due for release from Changeling Press in September titled "Twin Flame."
"Twin Flame" is a story about Erin Alsace, a St. Louis gal, who has a major attitude problem. It is a result of living with a horrible family curse that originated in 1700's England. Justus Fehr, a wizard of the House of Devon, insists that she is his soul mate, his twin flame. Problem is, the curse forces her to have sex at least once every three days or she will go insane, and the kicker, if she has sex with someone more than twice, they will die on the third time. Justus' good intentions are making things worse, and after a horrifying trip to the hellish Underworld, Erin believes they will never be able to break the curse.
KH: Would you tell us about your upcoming projects?
RG: Right now I am working on a piece for Changeling Press's ghost week in October. It's tentatively titled "Black Thunder." It is set on a Fox Indian reservation in Iowa. Kira Sweet, a Jefferson City, MO, born and raised, goes to an Indian Casino for a weekend of rest and relaxation. What she finds is a vengeful ghost who can't decide if he wants to kill her or tear her clothes off.
Black Thunder, a nearly 300 year old ghost, is duly perplexed when he finds a woman who carries a reincarnated soul of the man who killed his family. With the help of a tricky deity, Kokopelli, he seeks his revenge, not bargaining on the fact that he could be falling in love with his most hated enemy.
I'm really excited to be working on a story that has a Native American theme, since I have a lot history in my family. My great grandfather was full Cherokee on my father's side, and on my mother's there is Black Foot and Sioux. Besides, Native American mythology has always been a keen interest of mine.
KH: If you could meet one of your characters, which one would it be?
RG: Hmm, this is a really difficult question, because I love them all! I'm afraid if I picked one, the others would rebel. *grin* If I have to pick one though, I'd pick Guillermo Perez from the Beast series. The man exudes confidence, control, and charisma, or what I like to call the "three C's."
KH: To you, what makes a great romance hero?
RG: Someone who is not too good, a bit of a bad boy, or girl as the case may be. I like my heroes a little rough around the edges, someone who is 90% balls to the wall, 10% heart. He has to make bad decisions before he can make good ones, and understands when he is doing either.
KH: Do you have a website and/or email address where readers can reach you?
RG: Well, yes I do! Thanks for asking, Kate.

Title: Twin Flame

The day had been long, wonderful, and terrible all at the same time. Erin sat up and looked at Justus.
"I need to sleep, but I'm scared about what tomorrow is going to do to me." Her curse, now cycling every two days, would strike with a vengeance. She could already feel the need building.
He didn't reply. Justus picked her up in his arms and carried her to the bed. He amazed her with his strength and tenderness. Laying her down, he kissed her shoulder. Erin could feel the marks jump and pulse at his touch. She didn't understand everything Justus had told her or shown her of wizardry, but she'd lived with this oddity for so many years, nothing shocked her.
His gray eyes swirled like mist coming over the Mississippi River, slow, rolling, hypnotic. Justus' determination to fix her, to make all the bad shit disappear, made her want to love him -- to wrap him in her arms and keep him forever. It's a dream, her mind derisively laughed. This will never be your life.
Justus stroked his powerful finger down her neck, between her breasts, to rest his hand on her stomach. "I do love you," he whispered.
And she knew, knew in every bit and piece of her body, he did. She rolled into his embrace, capturing his luscious lips with her own. His hands caressed her back, kneading the tense muscles into submission as his teeth gently tugged at her lower lip. She wriggled against him, closing the space lingering between them as the kiss became frantic, needing, nearly desperate.
His fingers worked at the button on her leather pants, pulling and tugging until it opened. He slipped his hand between the rawhide material and her skin, caressing her curly mound before they reached her already aching wet pussy.
She moaned. "We can't. Justus, we can't."
He pulled back from her, face full of determination. "The curse requires your lover to release inside of you, right?"
Feeling weak from need, all she could do was nod.
"I plan on bringing you pleasure, Erin. But I will not climax in you. You deserve this much." He worked her pants down to her thighs.
"I don't know..." He cut her protest off by plunging a finger into her cunt. "Ah!" she cried out. Erin wanted this, wanted one night, just one, to be about self-indulgence and satisfaction. Hers, not the curses.
"Okay ... yes." She closed her eyes wanting to just feel.
Justus untied her halter with one hand removing the triangle covering her breasts while the other continued its teasing movements in and out of her pulsing sex. His tongue laved her nipple as it pulled into a tightly drawn nub, then unexpectedly, he kissed the marks. They danced under his lips, the burning itch subsiding beneath his touch. His cock lengthened and hardened against her thigh. She opened her eyes, surprised to find him naked.
When did that happen?
UNEDITED EXCERPT FROM HAIR OF THE DOG BY KATE HILL
Coming Soon from Changeling PressHe wasn't sure how much time passed between that first kill and her arrival. All he remembered was lying in the cave one morning just before dawn, when the night was still and dark. He had been thinking about leaving the cave and seeking out the thirteen on his own. It was long past time for his task to begin and it seemed the others might not come at all.
Then the scent wrapped around him. This time he knew it was not another wild animal, but one of his own kind. It was an unimaginably wonderful aroma, strong yet soft, like an endless field of the headiest flowers.
He rose, the bearskin draped around him, and left the cave, following that delicious scent. When he saw her, he almost forgot to breathe. Tall and lithe with smooth dark skin, she stood by the brook, her long, black hair draping her luscious body. Her arms were wrapped tightly around herself and she shivered in the cold. Staring at him with large, dark eyes, she exuded strength, curiosity, and a hint of apprehension.
Even when the others came, none of them sent such powerful emotions coursing through him. None but her made his heart pound as hard as when he fought the cave bear.
Removing the bearskin, he felt a shiver run down his spine when the winter air touched his naked flesh. Simultaneously, he and the woman stepped closer to one another. When he draped the fur around her, his hands brushed her soft skin and her scent filled him, almost making him dizzy with an emotion he couldn't explain.
He guided her back to the cave where the fire burned brightly. The sun would be rising soon, but they were deep enough in the cave to sleep unhindered by the light. He offered her food and water that she accepted eagerly.
How long have you been here?
Ariel's heart nearly stopped from both the pleasure and the surprise of hearing a spiritual voice for the first time since his arrival in the mortal world. It was her voice, so musical and lovely.
Many days and nights, he replied.
She paused in eating and held his gaze, sympathy in her dark eyes. I cannot imagine being alone here for that long.
Unsure of how to reply, he occupied himself with keeping warm. Edging closer to the fire, he rubbed his hands over his arms. She immediately moved closer, opening the large fur cloak and draping half of it over him. Her lush body pressed close to his, one of her soft, full breasts pushing against his arm, the hard little nipple rubbing provocatively against his skin. Her thigh rested snugly against his and her hair, soft and carrying the scent of cool, woodsy air, caressed his flesh. His body's response was fast and uncontrollable. His cock swelled and felt almost unbearably tight. By all that was sacred, if a bit of her flesh so much as grazed it he thought he might shatter.
He glanced at her sharply, the sound of his heartbeat filling his ears, or was it her heartbeat? Her scent had grown stronger and she stared at him, her lips slightly parted. The urge to cover her mouth with his almost overwhelmed him.
Then it struck him. All the temptations and pleasures of the mortal world would affect their kind as well. He could not allow this to happen. It was not right. Not when --
Her slender hand, now warm from the fur and the fire, came to rest on his side. Slowly she ran it over his ribs and across his taut abdomen. Turning slightly so she could better reach him, she placed both hands on his chest and stroked the expanse of it. Surely she must feel his heart pounding? Her eyes closed halfway and she leaned closer, her lips touching his. The kiss was gentle and chaste, yet it sent his desire racing to fevered heights.
One of her long, sleek legs draped over his and she straddled him, his cock trapped between their heated bodies.
Moaning softly, she buried her fingers in his hair and used her tongue to trace the shape of his lips. Instinctively his mouth opened and he gently thrust his tongue into her mouth. His eyes closed, he wrapped his arms around her and explored every warm wet corner and crevice of her delectable mouth.
She squirmed against him and he felt something warm and damp on this thighs. Her pussy was probably drenched with desire. If his hard, aching cock slid inside it, the pleasure would be --

GUEST AUTHOR KIRA STONE
KH: Would you tell us about your book Devil's Man?
KS: The original title for the book was "The Saint, The Sinner and The Satyr." I think that pretty much says it all. Too bad it wouldn't all fit on the cover!
KH: What usually comes first, your characters or your plotlines?
KS: Neither. For me, a story starts with a scene or a situation, one that usually doesn't make it into the final version. Devil's Man started with scene where Drue and Roman are talking about their purpose, getting ready to welcome a room full of new guests. The next scene written was the one where Roman approaches Carter in his bedroom. The plot and characters evolved simultaneously from there. Then I had to go back and rewrite the beginning to fit the end. That's a fairly typical pattern for me.
KH: What do you like most about writing erotic romance?
KS: Erotic romance allows me to push the boundaries in a myriad of ways. I challenge myself to go as far as the other excellent authors in this genre, learning about myself and my characters in the process.
KH: You have a story coming up for Changeling Press's Halloween Bash series. Would you tell us about that?
KS: Blood Price breaks my trend for scenic beginnings. I got an email from my critique partner while I was out of town. "Hey, we're part of a Halloween theme week. M/M, Vampire. You can do that, right?" Riiiiiiiight. Up that point, I'd never done anything with vampires. Never intended to. But being part of a Changeling Press themed series was an opportunity I couldn't pass up so I agreed. I worked on the plot as I traveled and wrote the book from an outline as soon as I got home. I think readers will find it's not a traditional vampire novel, but a blend of witchcraft and vampire lore. A good combo for Halloween, eh?
KH: Would you tell us about some of your upcoming projects?
KS: A sequel to Devil's Man, currently titled Between the Covers, will be released by Changeling Press in a few months. A lot of the same characters, but the hero and heroine are new. I'd like to do a third in the series. And I have several sequels planned for Blood Price, assuming readers are interested.
KH: If you could meet one of your characters, which one would it be?
KS: Very tough question. I'm the type of author who has to fall in love with her heroes just a little bit in order to write them well. I can think of several I'd dearly love to chat with in person. Sebastian, from Blood Price. I couldn't resist passing along an except to introduce him to you. Petyr, from Devil's Man, is another one. A few men and women from my romantic suspense manuscripts that I hope will eventually see the light of a release day.
KH: Do you have a website and/or email address where readers can reach you?
KS: www.kirastonebooks.com It's new and being updated often. Use the "Contact Me" link to, well, contact me! Seriously, I'd love to hear feedback not only on the site, but also on my books.
Thank you, Kira!
Thank you, Kate. It was a pleasure chatting with you.
EXCERPT FROM BLOOD PRICE BY KIRA STONE
Trembling with exhaustion and the need for nourishment, he jogged across the street and touched the symbol beside the door to The Cork and Casket pub. Here goes nothing.
The moment his toes crossed the threshold, an electrical surge struck his body, searing his nerve endings with a red-hot fire. For a paralyzed, excruciating moment, he couldn't move. Then, as quick as it had come, the fire left him and Steven stumbled forward. He fell against a cobblestone wall, panting. The wall held him up, gave him time to catch his breath and adjust to the low interior light.
As details emerged from the darkness, he almost wished they hadn't. The pub's foyer resembled a large cave. Half a dozen dark corridors departed in different directions. Pasty white, incandescent ichors oozed from the crevasses at frequent and seemingly random intervals, the only obvious source of illumination. Whether that substance was what produced the awful stench in the air or something else, Steven didn't know. Whatever it was, it turned his stomach and he had to breathe through his mouth to prevent himself from gagging on it.
First time? Takes some getting used to, I admit.
Steven turned to find a lean, leather-clad man standing in one of the archways. He hadn't been there a couple seconds ago. How had he managed to approach so quietly? Not what I expected, no.
I'm Sebastian. Would you like me to show you around?
Steven saw no point in being social. He wasn't planning on staying in the vampire's domain any longer than he absolutely had to. All I need is the bar.
Sebastian subtly changed his stance. Instead of a lounging creature, open and friendly, he became guarded, alert. He pointed to the archway closest to him. Feeding is that way. He nodded toward the next. If you find you have other appetites to satisfy, fucking is over there. And fighting... He pointed to a third tunnel on the opposite side. ...is down that one.
Feeding, fucking, fighting. Got it. What about the other tunnels? Where do they lead?
The blond smiled in a way that never reached his blue eyes. Since all you care about is dinner, does it really matter?
$Stepped right into that one$. Guess not.
Sebastian pushed away from the stone and sauntered toward him. He had a loose-hipped way of walking. It contrasted sharply with the hard muscles of a gutter fighter shifting restlessly under the black leather as he moved. He wore a silver hoop in his left lobe and a stud of some dark colored stone in his right. His blond hair hung well past his shoulders. Another time, Steven might have warmed up to him. He liked the looks of the guy, but he wasn't trolling for dick tonight.
Be careful where you dine, my friend. I hear the local lord is in the pub tonight. He doesn't take kindly to nonconsensual poaching. The vampire trailed his hand over the wall, picking up a finger-full of the nasty white slime and sliding it across Steven's crotch as he passed. Maybe I'll see you around.
Yeah, sure.
But the blond was already gone.

Humor/Satire
Coming soon from Changeling Press
http://www.changelingpress.com/product.php?&upt=book&ubid=228An hour later, they were soaring through deep space without a planet in sight.
"I could use a snack. How about you, Jethrex?"
"Sure. Grab me anything."
Mary left the cockpit and stepped into the cargo bay. She gasped at the sight that met her eyes. GreatSword had removed his cape and was about to slip into a flowing black shirt from his travel bag. His back was a mass of dark bruises and angry red welts.
"My God, what happened to you?"
GreatSword quickly donned the shirt. "It's nothing."
"Let me get you some spray." Mary began rummaging through several bags and boxes. "Where is the damn first aid kit? Here it is."
"I assure you, it looks worse than it feels."
She approached with a spray bottle that contained an antiseptic/pain killer. "Take off your shirt, prince."
"I don't need any of your Amazurnian witches' spray."
"It's not from Amazurn. It's from Deer World Six. Now do what I tell you. The last thing we need is for you to get an infection and die before we deliver you to our princess."
"I assure you that won't happen, but if it will make you feel better -- " He removed the shirt, revealing his magnificent torso with that gorgeous chest that she ached to touch. He turned and she winced at the sight of his mutilated back. "With my Vampiremite blood, these injuries will heal by the morrow."
"Then the rumors about your powers of regeneration are true?" Mary began spraying his injuries, careful not to miss an inch of the battered flesh.
"They are. Of course, being only half Vampiremite, I don't heal as quickly as my pure blooded relations."
"It's a good thing you heal faster than a normal person, though. Some of these wounds are quite bad. It looks like you were flogged."
"As punishment for my rudeness at dinner."
Rage boiled inside Mary. "Your father did this?"
"He ordered it done. It is his right."
"No one has a right to do this."
"You do not understand the ways of Tauroth."
"I don't think I'd want to. Finished. Does that feel better?"
"Yes. Thank you."
He turned so quickly that she found herself facing his chest. Mary's heart pounded and all her senses sprang to life. Warmth emanated from his body. His scent filled her. If she leaned just a bit closer, her lips would be pressed to his chest, touching those crisp hairs and solid muscle.
"Strange," he said, his voice a deep rumble in spite of its soft tone. He cupped her chin in his hand and tilted her face toward his. Their gazes met, and for a moment Mary was completely lost in the beauty and passion of his sapphire eyes. "You are like no woman I have ever known, fair pilot. You do something to me that I don't understand."
"Yeah, I know what you mean," she whispered.
His head bowed the slightest bit toward her. Drawing a deep breath, Mary stood on tiptoe and touched her lips to the prince's. God, his lips were soft yet firm. They were slightly moist and incredibly warm. Unconsciously, her arms slid around his neck. His wrapped around her waist, lifting her slightly off the ground so that she was supported entirely by his powerful body. He was hard as steel, yet supple. The heat of his flesh seeped into her. She felt the powerful rhythm of his heartbeat against her, or was it her own?
His tongue slipped into her mouth, demanding without being overly dominating. He tasted and stroked, exploring with slow, tender thrusts. Nearly all the strength drained from Mary's legs. Her nipples strained against her uniform and her clit throbbed and ached, longing for him to kiss it as he was kissing her lips.
"By the Gods," he breathed, releasing her abruptly.
Mary staggered against the trunk, stunned by what had just happened.
"Oh, this is bad. Really bad. I just kissed the princess's man. I could be arrested for treason."
"As I could." He ran a hand through his hair. "Forgive me, fair pilot. I had no right to touch you in such a way."
"It -- It never happened, right?"
His gaze met hers and he nodded. "That is correct. This wonderful, all consuming moment of desire never happened."
"God, why did you have to put it that way?"
"Hey, Mary? Have you got the food? I'm starving!"
"Be right there, Jethrex." Mary opened the trunk with trembling hands and searched for some sandwiches. "Are you hungry, prince?"
"Aye. Starving, fair pilot. But not for food."
Mary swallowed hard and glanced over her shoulder at him. He stood by the portal, his back to her as he stared into space, his hands clenched into fists at his sides.

Erotic Fantasy
Coming soon from Ellora's Cave
http://www.ellorascave.comDusk settled in and the wind grew stronger and colder. Sun and Blaze draped cloaks over their robes and searched for a place to spend the night.
"Company?" Blaze pointed east toward an approaching horse and rider.
Sun lifted her hand, shielding her eyes against the glare of the setting sun and studied the figures.
A black mare taller than her stallion, moved with the power of a war horse and the grace of the small, delicate horses native to the Kennas. Dark blue robes draped her rider. A hood of the same color covered his head. The mare pranced before coming to a stop.
Sun tingled with unaccustomed attraction. The newcomer was not only handsome but poured sensuality like water from a cascade. Blue eyes gleamed in his smooth, dark-skinned face. His sharp cheekbones, oval chin and beautifully-shaped nose looked as if they'd been carved by the greatest sculptor. A pleasant smile curved his lips.
"Hello," he said in their language. The almost musical accent of the Kennas combined with his deep tone captivated Sun. "You know a storm is coming?"
Sun looked at the clear sky. "A storm?
"He's right," Blaze said. "Spirits are muttering."
The man cast a questioning glance at Blaze, then turned back to Sun. "I have shelter, if you'd like to share it."
"That's kind of you," she said, "considering we're strangers and could be thieves or murderers."
The man tilted his head slightly to one side and winked. "So could I."
"Risks excite me. Whoa." She grasped her stallion's reins at the same moment the stranger tightened his grip on his mare that had begun prancing again. Sun nodded at the tall, sleek female. "She's in heat."
The stranger patted his horse's glossy black neck and smiled. "Just don't let that rogue of yours get her in trouble. If you want to wait out the storm, you should follow me."
He nudged the mare toward the dune over which they'd appeared. Sun and Blaze glanced at each other in silent consultation, then followed their host.
From the top of the dune, they saw a bare mountain, several cave mouths visible in its side. The man led them into the largest entrance. Once theyd dismounted, Sun noted their host's impressive height. She stood at eye level or taller than most men, but she had to look up to meet the stranger's gaze. Inside, the cave narrowed around a bend before opening into a chamber large enough for several people and horses to comfortably spend the night. A torch burned in the wall. Blankets and saddlebags were piled on the floor.
"You live here?" Sun asked.
The man grinned. "I'm not so misanthropic."
He removed his hood, revealing thick black hair that hung to his waist in a straight, gleaming mass. Sun's breath caught. Never in her life had she seen such beautiful hair. She wondered how it would feel to run her fingers through it. The robe came off next and Sun's pulse leapt. His lean body was clothed with tan trousers and a sleeveless vest of dark brown leather. Muscles rippled in his arms and broad, smooth-skinned chest. The baggy, wide-legged trousers would have shortened most men's legs, but his looked miles long. She glanced at his cock and balls pressing against trousers so thin she could almost discern the exact shape of the bulbous head. Suns mouth went dry.
"How long did it take you to grow that?" she asked.
The stranger glanced at the front of his pants. "Depends on how beautiful the woman in front of me."
Sun raised her eyes to heaven and snorted with disgust. "I meant your hair."
"Oh, that." He grinned, looking sheepish. "Years."
Sun resisted the urge to laugh aloud. Typical man. Always imagining women were impressed with their cocks. What irritated her most was this time it was true. She'd seen few bulges as magnificent as the one in his pants.
"Are you hungry?" he asked. "I was about to eat. Just some bread and dried fruit, but you're welcome to it."
"Kind of you," Blaze said, withdrawing a round of cheese from his belongings. "I can add to the feast."
"So can I." Sun slapped her thigh before reaching for the special reserve of wine she kept hidden in her saddlebag. "This might not be such a bad night after all."
Soon the three sat eating and talking by a small fire in the center of the cave.
"What brings you to our land?" asked the stranger.
Sun watched his long, slim fingers slide a fig into his mouth. She nearly squirmed as she imagined what those fingers would feel like rubbing her clit or exploring her pussy. The giddy sensation in her belly was completely unaccustomed. Even her nipples tingled and swelled when she thought of bedding this man. Her gaze followed the tip of his tongue flicking across his voluptuous lower lip.
"I'm looking for someone," she said.
"Who? Maybe I can help you find him."
"His name is Mica of Ademene, a combat general."
The stranger's eyes widened. "Then look no further. I am Mica of Ademene."
For an entire five seconds, Sun stared in dumb shock.
Shrieking a battle cry, she unsheathed her sword and swung it directly at Mica's skull.

GUEST AUTHOR INTERVIEW: KIMBERLY KAYE TERRY
KH: On your website you have an intriguing excerpt from your upcoming book "Love's Redemption" that's coming soon from New Concepts Publishing. Before you started the book, how did the characters introduce themselves to you?
KT: Thank you so much Kate for interviewing me. Wow. It seems so long ago that Mark and Maya's story began to take shape in my mind. I was asked recently which came first, the characters or the storykind of like which came first the chicken or the egg, LOL. They sort of evolved naturally. I'd always had my hero in the back of my mind. I knew he was the type of man who didn't allow societies constraints, or anything else for that matter, to deter him from loving his woman! LOL. He was strong, yet gentle, Alpha yet not overbearing, and oh yeahhot as hell!! ? What a combination huh? As far as my heroine, she too, easily evolved. She had to be intelligent, with a mind of her own. I wanted her to be a woman with depth. Someone you could honestly relate to. Because I write suspense, the other character I enjoyed writing was my "villain". I didn't want to write a typical bad guy villain. I wanted the reader to understand, maybe even empathize with this character as they found out along the way what caused this person to evolve into someone capable of hurting another human being.
KH: "Love's Redemption" is part of your Knights series. How many books are going to be in it, or will it be an ongoing series?
KT: Love's Redemption actually has a small element of the paranormal with the introduction of Nicolai Montgomery, an FBI agent who has paranormal abilities. Actually this book is not apart of the series, more like an intro. Nicolai serves to introduce the Knight series. I absolutely love my Knight Series!! As of now, I have nine books outlined! I recently completed Knight Visions, book 1 in the series, which features Dafina Amara, an Amazon from the rainforest of Africa. I say I have nine books, but this series is so much fun, I don't want to limit myself!!
KH: What do you like best about writing romances?
KT:. I love stepping into my imagination and building this whole new world for two people to meet and fall in love. AndI do like to write it hot! I won't lie and say otherwise; sometimes even I blush when I read my love scenes--LOL. But it's more than that. I try and write strong emotion in every scene in the story. If it's a funny scene, well, I wanna make the reader laugh! If it's a sad scene, it's okay to cry. And if it's a sex scenewell, I'll leave that up to your imagination what it's okay to do!! But I absolutely love to write about two people who find their other half; the missing part of themselves. The part that longs to be completed, and can only happen once they find the missing link to their soul. Two halves of the same whole. YeahI freely admit I am a helpless romantic ?
KH: Would you tell us about "Love's Redemption?"
KT: Definitely!! Love's Redemption is scheduled for release December 15th with New Concepts Publishing! There are so many interesting twists to Love's Redemption that I find it hard to pinpoint it into one genre!! This is what I've come up with. It's an erotically charged, psychological suspense, with elements of the paranormal. Whew!! I have NO idea how my editor is going to label it-LOL.
The "Slayer" has been terrorizing San Antonio for months, targeting men who solicit prostitutes. The police believe this sadistic serial killer is a prostitute and a woman; but that's all they know. Dr. Maya Richardson has come a long way from being the little girl that no one wanted. Her happy childhood was shattered when her parents died in an accident. Because of her dual heritage no family members offered to take her in, forcing her into an abusive foster home that left her emotionally scarred, and unwilling to believe in love.
As the founder of Imani House, Maya helps women escape prostitution. She is pulled into the Slayer investigation when her beloved foster sister becomes the killer's first female victim.
To Detective Mark Halstan this is just another case until Maya walks into the police squad room. His attraction to her is immediate and intense. He knows the timing is all wrong but he can't ignore the heat generated every time their eyes meet. The difference in their race means nothing to Mark as he falls in love with this beautiful, reserved psychologist.
Mark and Maya must work together to find the Slayer before more lives are lost but the strange occurrences surrounding the investigation increase. Maya struggles to find the courage to love as a whole town is on edge, wondering who is the face behind the San Antonio Slayer.
KH: Would you tell us about some of your other upcoming projects?
KT: I'd love to Kate!! The first book in the Knight series is Knight Visions, which features Dafina Amara, an Amazon from a secret tribe located in the rainforest of Africa. Not only is Dafina an Amazon, she's also the du'an gifted princess who happens to be an FBI agent. She, along with her fellow Knights are sent out on various missions to help solve crimes under the guise of being FBI. But in actuality Dafina, along with her teammates is a Metahuman. Humanbut more!! Soon I will have an update on the release date for this book as well as which publisher!
KH: If you could meet one of your characters, which one would it be?
KT: Just one Kate? Well it would have to be Dafina. I love her! She's so kick a**!! She's the Kim I want to be when I'm waiting in the parking lot for a space, and someone swoops in and takes my space, and I know she saw me there first!!--uggg! She's the Kim I crave to be when I'm in the express lane at the grocery store, and I have 13 items instead of 12, and the man behind me has a cow!! And finally, she's the Kim I want to be when my child is acting a fool in church and the woman in the pew ahead of me glares at me and my wild child the ENTIRE SERVICE!! LOL
KH: Do you have a website and/or email address where readers can reach you?
KT: Yep!! My website is

EXCERPT FROM LOVE'S REDEMPTION BY KIMBERLY KAYE TERRY
"Sometimes I get a little scared of what's happening, because it seems like it's happening too fast. But it doesn't make it any less real. I'm not walking away from this, and neither will I let you." He hugged her close. As he'd come to the last words, he cleared his throat.
"I'm sure along the way one of us will make a mistake, but it doesn't mean we don't love each other. Or, that our relationship is destined to fall apart. It means we made a mistake, and all we do from there is learn from that mistake, not give up on the relationship. Giving up is too damn easy Maya."
Maya didn't think it registered on him he mentioned love. She allowed the slip to pass because she didn't want to examine it too closely. What she did examine was his desire to be with her. She was happier than she'd ever been, and she didn't want to sabotage it through her fears. Fears she carried around like the unnecessary, excess baggage they were.
"You're right. I don't want to give up on this. It's natural for me to withdraw when it becomes personal, and it's something I've been working on. But I'll keep trying. That's all I can promise. I'll try," she promised him with a small smile.
"We'll work on it," he corrected her.
When she saw him glance at his watch, she realized how late it was. Lately, she would take one of her weekend days off to spend with him. Which meant her Fridays were busy late nights at the house.
When Mark realized she was working later on Fridays and figured out why, he didn't try and talk her out of working late. He simply arrived at Imani House on Friday night when he left the precinct, and work from his laptop or visit with the residents. After Maya finished for the night they would drive to her house and he would spend the night.
He'd even kept a few of his things in her bedroom over the course of the last few weeks.
"Sweetheart it's getting late, why don't we go to bed. I'm sure you've got a busy day tomorrow, and so do I with this FBI agent," he told her as he helped her to her feet.
"I know Fridays are kind of hectic for you, so why don't I bring him by Imani House and you can meet him there." Mark wrapped his arms around her waist as she stood in front of her bathroom mirror.
"That's fine. I'll be out the House for a meeting in the morning, but I'll return in the afternoon for the rest of the day. Call me when you're ready to come by."
As she'd begun to speak, he opened the front of her robe, and had insinuated his hands inside. He cupped her breasts as he stared at their dual images reflected in the mirror as he caressed her.
He took her erect nipples between his thumb and forefinger, and lightly pinched it, until she arched her back, a moan escaping her parted lips. "Mark. . ."
She loved when he played with her breasts, and in the mirror she watched him toy with her nipples, making them stand out in stiff peaks as he kissed his way down the side of her throat.
He eased the robe down her shoulders until it pooled in a heap around her feet. Turning her around, he picked her up and strode back into the bedroom where he deposited her on the bed.
He made quick work out of taking off his pants, his eyes never leaving hers. He turned off the bedside light and came to lie beside her on the bed.
"I'm happy you're a part of my life. If you ever are in doubt about anything, please ask me, and we can talk about it. Don't run away from me again or assume the worst--okay?" he pleaded, in a voice grown rough with arousal.
"I'm trying, " she whispered against his throat. She could barely think with his big hands roaming over her bared skin, his touch electric on her breasts.
"You have to know how serious I am about you," he told her moments before his hot mouth found her breasts. She wrapped both of her arms around his neck, her hands coming to rest at the base of his neck. She tangled her fingers in his sable curls as he continued his intimate torture. "And you also have to know I'm not playing some game with you," he said and pulled away from her heaving breast to look down at her.
"I know you aren't. I feel the same way." She didn't like his distance from her, and sat up, so they were facing one another. She took his face between her hands, her eyes searching his in the dim lit-room; the only light came shining from the moon. But the dimness of the room couldn't hide the way his beautiful dark blue eyes were staring at her with such hot intensity, she had to close her eyes in order to breath.
When she opened them again, a smile played around the edges of his sensual mouth, and she leaned forward to kiss him.
His mouth immediately took over, fastening on hers in long drugging kisses, before he wrapped his arms around her and fell back to the bed, with their bodies facing.
Mark was everywhere. Moments before he was gentle and sweet, now his body covered hers as he molded himself to her. She felt his erection on her thigh, and moved closer for better access to the long thick length of him.
"Oh God baby, Oh God, I can't get enough of you. I need you. Now," he said, and his fingers found her clitoris.
She nearly died on the spot from the feel of him teasing her, making her crazy, wanting, no, needing, to have him buried deep inside of her. As she pushed against his hand, he lifted her bottom and impaled her on his engorged penis.
"Mark!" she screamed, her breath ending on a long keen.
"This is the real deal," he grunted, his breathing ragged, as his hands held her still to receive his plunges deep within her body. He took her hard and fast, the time for slow and gentle long passed. The feel of her tight sweet pussy gripping his cock made him grit his teeth, as he buried himself in her as far as he could.
Her velvet walls opened and closed in welcome over him as he pumped relentlessly into her. He pushed them both outside their previous limits, testing to see how far they could go beyond ecstasy. When he felt the first signs of her body rippling, followed by her long keen as she released, it drove his mind and body over the edge.
"Maya!" With a harsh groan he delivered two more tight, hard, corkscrew thrusts as he called her name. He released long and hard, his orgasm so prolonged he knew he'd died from the pleasure.
Mark held them in the same position for long minutes, not ready to give up the spiritual connection, their physical connection had given them. Their racing hearts calmed and he stroked a shaking hand gently over her soft curls. "You have to know this isn't a game Maya," he whispered against her temple, as she lay exhausted in his arms.
