GUEST AUTHOR INTERVIEW: DEBBIE WALLACE
KH: The hero and heroine in Cupid's Arrow, your upcoming release from Whiskey Creek Press, have had a rough time with past relationships. Would you tell us more about their story?
DW: Well, Emma's thirty something and has been divorced for two years. She thought she was happily married until her husband of ten years has an affair with a much younger woman. That not only results in their divorce but the selling of their successful business and home, so she's just moved into a lakeside condo. Her divorce doesn't leave her bitter, just a little distrustful of men and relationships. She's not actively looking for anyone but she has a younger sister who decides to play matchmaker. Mike just has a problem choosing the wrong women, you know, the kind who only wants to have fun. Once they find out he's got a kid full time they disappear. You see, his wife walked out on him and his daughter a few years earlier. So, after a couple relationships turn sour he decides to forget about women for a while, until his daughter is out of high school. But that's five years away and then he meets Emma and, well, you can guess the rest.
KH: What usually comes first for you, the plot or the characters?
DW: I guess I have to say the plot comes first. It's funny how a miniscule idea that just pops up in my head can develop into a full-blown novel. I'm sure it's that way for a lot of writers.
KH: Would you tell us about what you're working on now?
DW: That's kind of tough to answer Kate. I'm usually working on several projects at the same time. The one that's closest to being finished is a story about a young mother spending the holidays with her dead husband's family, and his brother. He's a die-hard soldier who comes home for the first time in years, who's secretly in love with her. The attraction is there for them, and builds as, you know, those little situations that occur between two people keep bringing them together. Only he feels guilt because his brother died in his arms.
KH: If you could meet one of your characters, which one would it be?
DW: Well, after seeing the cover to my first release All the Right Moves I'm in love with Marshall! LOL But seriously, the first one who came to mind is Luke in Someone to Love Me. I've submitted the story but haven't heard yet if they're interested. I'm the motherly sort you know so I think I'm drawn to him because of the tragedy that's shaped his life. He's living alone deep in the mountains of Alaska after a freak accident in which he was involved kills his wife. The accident left him with physical and emotional scars. Thankfully a plane crash delivers an angel at his door and in time he realizes he has something to live for.
KH: To you what makes a great romance hero?
DW: I definitely like a strong hero, someone who takes charge and is very protective of the heroine, even if he doesn't like her at first. He doesn't have to be handsome in the traditional way, I like them rough and ready. Yet he has to have a tender side too. I guess I want everything! LOL
KH: How about a great romance heroine?
DW: She has to be spunky and not afraid to say what's on her mind, with a sense of humor. The kind who loves her man no matter what, and is willing to fight for him. I hate weak heroines! You know, the kind you see in the old movies who are always falling down and slowing things up, and can't take care of themselves?
KH: Do you have a website and/or email address where readers can reach you?
DW: My website address is www.angelfire.com/me5/dawallace or I can be e-mailed at debbiewwin@aol.com. I respond to all e-mails but please be patient.
KH: Thank you, Debbie!

Mike tried to swallow but his throat closed up. Seeing Emma's breast, encased in a lacy bit of nothing was more than a man in his fragile state could bear. How the hell was he supposed to ignore that? Or forget what she'd tasted like the other night in the dressing room. It all came rushing back to him now, how sweet her flesh was. How her nipple had swelled in his mouth. Reaching forward to cover that tempting mound seemed the natural thing to do. The opposite of what he really wanted. He had to think about his sanity. Still, nothing could have stopped him from taking his time and trailing his finger across that tempting flesh, marveling at how soft it was.
How responsive.
His gaze met hers. The desire evident in the smoky depths of her eyes, as well as a subtle shyness that endeared her to him. The urge to pull her across his lap and kiss that soft, sweet mouth was so powerful that he shook with it. How could the sight of one lace-covered breast cause such turmoil in his body? Maybe if he kissed her it would appease some of the pain. At the very least get her out of his system. Yeah, right, how many times was he going to try and convince himself of that one?
Mike didn't need to glance around to know they were in a well-secluded spot. Maybe he'd unconsciously chosen this area, knowing the house on the lakeside lot was empty now that the occupants had returned to their winter residence in Florida. His body tightened like a coiled spring, making up his mind for him. Fingers closing around Emma's upper arms he slowly drew her across the open space between them. "I might regret this but if I don't kiss you right now you might as well take me to Cherry Grove and drop me off at the hospital." Cherry Grove only had one hospital, the Cherry Grove Institute for the mentally insane.
"Is it that bad?" Emma teased, her eyes sparkling with mischief. Her hands came up and she automatically braced her palms against his chest. Only she wasn't pushing him away. Her fingers curled into his torn shirt.
"Worse than bad," he growled, leaning back as he brought Emma against him. He meant to straighten when she was settled on his lap but suddenly Mike slipped off the seat backwards, landing with a mild thump on the bottom of the boat, with Emma on top of him.
"Oops!" she laughed, her hair falling down in her face. "You--"
Mike bent his head, closing the short distance between them and slanting his mouth firmly over hers, effectively cutting off whatever she'd been about to say. He wasn't in the talking mood, or the listening mood for that matter. All he knew was the feel of Emma's softness against him and the overwhelming urge to do something about the pain in his loins. Kissing her seemed a good place to start.

EXCERPT FROM EMPEROR'S DESIRE BY KATE HILL:
The emperor stared at the flames and Vida noted his expression seemed apprehensive, almost sad. He finished his wine in one swallow and looked at her.
Shall we begin, Vida?
In a movement so swift and fluid she could scarcely see it, he stood and swept her into his arms. Since shed asked him not to continue changing shape, hed retained the form of a tall, muscular man with long, light brown hair, a silky beard, aquiline nose, and full lips. His looks - all of them - appealed to her, but it was his manner that aroused her. The emperors voice, expressions, and motions were so slow and incredibly sexual that her body had tingled for him since the moment hed stepped into the chamber.
In spite of all shed heard about his kind, she wanted to make love with him.
Still holding her in his arms, the emperors mouth descended on hers. His lips moved gently at first, then grew more demanding. His tongue traced the shape of her lips, then parted them to explore her mouth. Vida moaned softly and entangled her fingers in his hair. He tasted wonderful, partly his own taste, partly that of the wine. In scarcely any time at all, she was returning his kiss enthusiastically, her tongue stroking his, her teeth gently nipping his lips.
He carried her through another door at the opposite end of the room. By the size and richness of the dark oak furniture, she guessed it was his private chamber. He placed her on an enormous bed covered with black satin sheets, tugged her dress over her head, and tossed it aside. The shoes and veil followed, leaving only the thin silk shift.
The emperor kissed her throat and bare shoulders, then covered one of her breasts with his mouth. His tongue stroked her nipple through the fabric that molded damply to her flesh. The sensation was so arousing that she moaned again and clutched his head closer. He sucked harder, his teasing tongue flicking across the hard nub of flesh.

GUEST AUTHOR INTERVIEW: DESIREE GELSI
KH: What are your favorite subgenres of romance?
DG: I love paranormals, fantasy, and futuristic romance. Anything can happen then, it's so much more than your typical boy meets girl story line.
KH: What do you like best about writing romance?
DG: I love creating a chemistry between characters. And it's more than just seeing how two personalities relate to one another, it's feeling the sparks between them, the tension, the nervousness... everything that happens in real life when you meet that someone that you just know you're going to fall in love with.
KH: Would you tell us about your latest release, Deadly Submission?
DG: Sure, it's a paranormal romance (a full length novel). It begins with the heroine, Ricky, who's been kidnapped, and soon she finds herself in a very different world where the people claim to be werewolves. There's different rules in this new place, and she's having a hard time adjusting. She misses her family terribly, and all she really wants is to go home. She also has to deal with two men known as the "Alpha's". One of them, Ivan, is deadly, she knows it and she can feel it, but besides being dangerous, he's also the sexiest man she's ever laid eyes on. The problem is, this big sexy beast of a man is her biggest fear, and at the same time her ultimate hero. Unfortunately, falling in love with him could prove more deadly than the man himself, and surrendering to her feelings for him could get her killed... I don't want to give too much away, so I'll leave it at that and let readers find out the rest!
KH: Would you tell us about what's coming up next for you?
DG: In April I have a new release called Hellcat coming out, and I'm also currently working on another story relating to Deadly Submission. I got a lot of readers e-mailing me and requesting that I write books on some of the other characters, which really surprised me.
KH: To you what makes a great romance hero?
DG: *giggling* I tell everyone that my German Sheperd would make a great romance hero... He's got all the makings of a great man (except he drools and he's way too hairy). He's big, confident, and strong - not to mention good looking. He's protective, but not too possessive. He just looks like a tough guy, the kind of guy that earns respect everywhere he goes. He looks all business outside and to strangers, but with friends and family he's actually just the opposite. He's a casual joker, playful, and a major lover boy. So, yeah, that's my idea of a great romance hero, a guy that's tough on the outside, a teddy bear on the inside.
KH: How about a great romance heroine?
DG: She should be strong, not necessarily physically, but mentally. She should be able to hold her own in any situation. I don't really go for the "woe is me, what's a girl to do?" kind of heroine. The only time a heroine should be going "woe is me" is when the hero is half naked just inches from her and her whole body is on fire while her brain has gone into a numb trance staring at him. Okay, then I'll allow the woe is me bit.
KH: Do you have a website and/or email address where readers can reach you?
DG: My website is www.desireegelsi.com , and my email address is desiree_gelsi@hotmail.com. I love to hear from readers!
KH: Thank you, Desiree!
DG: Thanks, Kate!
EXCERPT FROM DEADLY SUBMISSION BY DESIREE GELSI
To learn more about Deadly Submission, click here.
Ricky shivered as a draft washed over her. Startled, the soft clink of metal made her turn. She blushed and smiled softly when she saw Ivan leaning against the door with his arms crossed over his chest. He was wearing a long sleeved black shirt that hugged his muscles tightly and she inhaled softly in silent appreciation of his build, flushing to find herself feeling like a lustful schoolgirl again. He didn't return the smile, and his cool response made her turn her attention back to the glass doors.
She bit her bottom lip, not knowing if she should leave or stay. Everyone that she had met warned her that he was dangerous. They told her to stay out of his way, and now she was in the same room with him, as close to in his way as she surmised she could get.
Ricky grabbed a lock of her hair, playing with it to relieve her nerves. The room seemed to be closing in around her and she felt unusually claustrophobic.
She tensed when Ivan advanced towards her. She could hear his body shifting, and she could feel him like a dark weight over her shoulders. Her breath ceased as she caught from the corner of her eye the black shirt that he was wearing. He had his back to the reverse side of a chair that was a few feet from her and was leaning against it. She didn't dare to look up at his eyes, afraid to see if he was watching her or if his attention was elsewhere.
Ricky took a soft breath, realizing that she hadn't breathed since she had seen him approach her. She waited for him to speak and speculated that he might be angry with her for staying out in the snowstorm. Silence ensued and her comfort level waned with every second that ticked away. His presence was becoming painful and she couldn't stand it any longer.
She gathered what was left of her confidence and threw her eyes in his direction, almost turning away again when she caught him staring relentlessly at her. She focused her eyes on his collar bone as she spoke, watchful not to make eye contact but still able to see his expression, "Do you want me to leave?"
He moved subtly and rested his hand under his chin to keep the small iron tusks from clinking together. "Do you want to leave?"
His appearance never changed and he stood unflinching even when she answered, "No, not really."
He nodded, and Ricky remembered what Angel had said about his past experiences with women. He would intimidate them with his presence, with his strength, with his stare, anything he could to scare them away. Was that what he was trying to do to her? Was he hoping to unnerve her so badly that she would do anything to avoid him?
She raised her eyes defiantly, bringing them to the metal under his jaw. She still wasn't brave enough to challenge him outright by looking him in the eyes, but she was not about to let him bully her into avoidance either. She trembled inwardly as he adjusted against the chair, straightening and reminding her how tall he was. Her vulnerability flashed momentarily in her eyes, but she was quick to recuperate and chanced to stare at his lips, just higher than they were when she had her attention on his jaw.
He was easily more than six feet tall, and his broad shoulders gave him a look of formidability. Shivers licked at Ricky's spine at the mere sight of him and her knees felt weak. His lips curved slightly into a grinning sneer and she thought that he was enjoying this, enjoying her discomfort and the way that she tried to deny it. The idea of him reveling in her distress made her blood boil, and she wanted to lash out at him unmercifully.
Ivan pushed off from the chair and straightened fully, uncrossing his arms from his chest and stuffing his hands into his jean pockets. He stepped towards her until he was inches from her, nearly touching her. He could smell her delicate feminine scent, and he could feel her body heat radiating through her clothing as he stood so near to her. He tensed inwardly, something about her made him want to claim her for his own, to dominate her into a submission that would allow him to have her whenever he chose.
Ricky found she no longer wanted to lash out at him, but rather melt like hot butter into his arms. He was so firm and unyielding, and her heart skipped a beat just thinking about touching the rigidity beneath his shirt.
Ivan stood silently beside her, letting her adjust to his influence. Something stirred within her and she found herself becoming surprisingly aroused by his presence. She tried to refuse the heat that coursed through her body to no avail. Perhaps it was the memory of her dream from last night, but the feeling emboldened her. She looked up at him, grazing his golden eyes before settling her glance back on his lips.
Ricky's breathing had intensified and she knew that he was all too aware of the effect that he was having on her. He reached around her, snaking his hand up her back until he had a handful of her red hair tightly in his grasp. She gasped when he pulled her closer to him, allowing her to feel his hard body against her. Her head was spinning as he forced her to look into his eyes. Her green irises became trapped in his stare, and he held her for aching minutes that seemed boundless.
Ivan's lungs tightened. He wanted her, god how he wanted her. He wanted to taste her on his tongue, to feel every inch of her respond to him. He could demand it, he could force her to surrender to him. . . it was his privilege as a leader. He looked into the beautiful sea of green in her eyes. She was trembling, and he could smell her desire for him. He couldn't do this to her. To take her now would break her. He tried to shake himself free of his compassion. He shouldn't care; he had broken every other woman before her. But there was something different about this one, and the thought of hurting her was unbearable.
Ricky's cheeks reddened when she felt his breath on her skin, like a burning flame threatening to consume her. He leaned down into her ear and she felt herself yearning for his touch, craving the feel of his body against hers without the barrier of clothing.
"Don't play games with me, Ricky." He whispered throatily to her, "You won't win the games that I play. . ."
She felt the blood drain from her face as he released his grip on her, and he stepped backward. She blinked several times, watching as he turned from her and left the room, leaving her alone once more.

EXCERPT FROM THE ELIXIR MAIDENS 1: RUBY BY KATE HILL:
Rather than responding in words, Sir Hagen cupped the back of Rubys head and covered his mouth in a warm, tender kiss. At first his firm, slightly moist lips remained chastely closed, then he gently slipped his tongue into Rubys mouth, stroking and exploring.
Damn he tasted wonderful! Rubys eyes closed and he leaned nearer, relishing the scent and feel of Sir Hagens body. The magician slipped his free arm around Rubys waist and pulled him even closer. It was then that Ruby realized that in spite of his slimness, Sir Hagen was rather big-boned and well muscled. The desire to tear off his clothes and really see him almost overcame Ruby, but before he could act, Sir Hagen stepped away.
The mortal was panting slightly, the hint of a blush staining the ridges of his sharp cheekbones. He slowly backed toward the bathroom, not taking his gaze from Ruby. I wont be long.
Ill be waiting.
His lips flickering upward in a smile, Sir Hagen turned and closed the door behind him. Moments later came the sound of running water.
Ruby sat on the edge of the bed, his head spinning with happiness and desire. He was acting like a foolish youth over this man, yet he didnt want to stop himself. It seemed like forever since hed been this enraptured with anyone. Actually, he couldnt remember a time that hed felt quite this way about a lover.
Moments later, the water stopped in the shower and Sir Hagen stepped out of the bathroom wearing nothing but a towel around his lean waist.
Ruby drew a sharp breath of desire. The magician was even more gorgeous than hed imagined. Though he carried not a bit of extra flesh on his tall frame, he was incredibly well defined. Ruby watched the sensual play of muscles beneath his beautifully pale flesh as he stepped closer to the bed. A faint dusting of dark hair scattered across his broad chest and tapered down his muscled-ridged abdomen. His long legs looked incredibly hard and were also sparsely covered with black hair. The enticing bulge beneath the towel revealed the magicians arousal.

GUEST AUTHOR INTERVIEW: MARY WINTER
KH: What do you like best about writing paranormal romances?
MW: I like creating characters and worlds different from our own, and yet the same. It's like I can put a little bit of magic and mystery into ordinary, mundane life, and it feels good. I've always been fascinated by the metaphysical and writing paranormal romances allows me to explore things not usually in the mainstream.
KH: When writing, do you have full control of your characters, or at some point do they seem to take on a life of their own?
MW: I try to have control, but there are times when they take on a life of their own. I'm working on a fantasy trilogy. I'm unsure whether it will see the light of day or not, but it's very fun to write, and I adore this world I created. Well, a supposed to be minor character came onto the scene and said "oh, and you realize that I'm going to fall in love with the heroine." I'm like "excuse me, but she's in love with someone else." The character was like "oh, he's going to die in the next book." I gulped, looked at my notes and thought okay, here we go. It's like being on a roller coaster, but since I don't like them, I can experience all the turns and thrills without actually visitng an amusement park. It's rather fun when characters take over the story, and I usually like where the story ends up, so it's a win-win situation.
KH: Would you tell us about your latest release?
MW: My latest relese, Money Man, launched Venus Press' Mystical Signs Series. In Money Man, I play with the two sides of Capricorn. Sadie worked hard all her life, put herself through vet school, and basically detests anyone who had things handed to him. Devon Markier III, born with money, good looks, and charm, has breezed his way through life and right into purchasing 1/2 of the veterinary practice Sadie wished to own outright. She's going to have to learn that not everyone born with money is bad, and he's going to have a hard time convincing her he's more than just a money man. This book garnered a 5 Angel review from Fallen Angel Reviews. I'm quite thrilled.
KH: What project (s) are you currently working on?
MW: I just finished up a short, summer story about a woman with her private island in the Caribbean and the ocean god she loves. Up next will be a m/m romance set in the exciting world of Olympic-level show jumping. Then I'll finish up my other Mysical Signs book and hopefully get back to the world of StarMyst and my sorcerers.
KH: What do you think makes a great romance hero?
MW: I think he has to be strong, not just physically but emotionally and spiritually as well. He has to know what he wants and be willing to stop at nothing to get it. And, of course, he has to be sexier than sin and know how to please a woman.
KH: If you could meet one of your characters, which one would it be?
MW: I'd like to meet Jacy from StarMyst 1: Prodigal Son, if only to tell her that I know what she went through with losing her foster-father, and to talk horses. I think she's a strong, vibrant woman, and she is one of my favorite characters.
KH: Do you have a website and/or email address where readers can reach you?
MW:My website is http://www.marywinter.com and I can be reached at mary@marywinter.com

EXCERPT FROM BOUND AND BECHARMED BY KATE HILL:
Brendon closed his eyes tightly, his teeth gritting against the urge to pound into Helga with scarcely controlled passion. He would have given all the gold at the end of the rainbow to claim her with deep rough strokes, to hear her raw cries of animal desire, yet he couldnt. Loki had said she wanted tenderness and damn it, he was going to give it to her. Not only did he like and respect this Valkyrie, but he wanted to please her. She was the first woman who had ever welcomed him into her arms and he wasnt about to frighten her off by succumbing to the white-hot fantasies that had plagued him all his life. How many nights had he awakened alone in his bed, drenched in sweat with an erection the size of an ogres shoe horn after having dreams of wild sex?
If only Helga could share those fantasies life would be absolutely perfect. The thought of tying her to a bed and claiming her body while she urged him on in a voice filled with passion soon had him trembling on the verge of orgasm.
He forced himself to thrust slower and deeper, struggling to control his excited breathing. His heart pounded, threatening to burst through his chest.
Dont hold back, Helga whispered, weaving her fingers through his hair, her strong Valkyrie legs wrapped tightly around his waist.
I want to please you, he said against her lips.
In response, she tightened her vaginal muscles around him and thrust against him until he could no longer control himself. He plunged harder and faster, though in the back of his mind he remembered to maintain a degree of gentleness.
His sudden change of pace seemed to excite her and she uttered a soft moan of desire, clinging even harder. Her wet sheath clamped around his almost painful erection.
Gritting his teeth and struggling to control his breathing, he continued thrusting until she cried out in pleasure. With five more fast, hard thrusts, he exploded, his body straining against hers.

GUEST AUTHOR INTERVIEW: ANGELIQUE ARMAE
KH: Welcome back, Angelique! Your last interview here was in September of 2004 and I know a lot has happened in your career since then. Would you tell us about your latest releases and any other info about your books you'd like to talk about?
AA: My latest book is Dead Walkers: The Protectorate, a Regency-set Irish vampire novel. The Protectorate is the first title in the new Dead Walkers series with another two books contracted.
Dead Walkers are vampires, mortals and other creatures who walk on the dark side of life for various reasons. There are two forces in their world - The Itycans and the Upyrans, both hailing from ancient Celtic vampire kingdoms. The Dead Walkers are split, some good (allied to the Itycans) and some bad (allied to the Upyrans). The Protectorate is an ancient council that works at keeping peace between the two sides and is led by the Itycans. My villain is Vastos, a Upyran vampire prince who was still born, but given back life when his mother defied the gods and raised him from the dead as an infant. His twin, who survived their birth, went on to inherit the Itycan vampire kingdom and it's his bloodline that leads the Protectorate. The Upyrans and the Itycans are at war and my hero and heroine are caught up in the battle.
KH: Why do you think romance novels are so popular?
AA: I think most readers are looking for a book so they can forget about real life day to day things. Romances are perfect for that especially since today's romances have strong heroines and intelligent plot lines, but always have a happily ever after ending.
KH:What is your favorite thing about creating your own vampire universe?
AA: I get to create an ideal world :-) Well, maybe not ideal, but the worlds I create have sinfully good looking heroes, strong heroines who always snare the hero without giving up their own identities, and good always triumphs over evil. Plus, I get to set my worlds in time periods I love - Medieval, Regency, present day, future, etc. I also find I put a bit of me in all my characters. I'd think writing/creating a world is very much like being an actor - you get to play all the great, adventurous parts and still go home to your very average, very real life at the end of the day.
KH: What is your view on ebooks now compared to when you first started as an author?
AA: I sold my first book as an ebook. It was an uphill battle getting people to understand what an ebook was back then. Today, while still not as popular as paperbacks, ebooks are very well accepted and much the variety of genres has expanded. Ebooks today are also winning top awards right alongside paperback best sellers.
KH: What are some of your favorite resources when you're researching a book?
AA: I do a combination of on-line research and traditional book research. Since I write mainly dark and urban fantasy, and many with a Celtic background, I tend to use a lot of Celtic history books and various religious history books. I've also recently purchased the FLIP DICTIONARY and GREGGS Manual of Style.
KH: As a writer I know there always seems to be many characters floating around in my mind. When you're starting a new book, how do you decide which character actually gets his story written?
AA: Deciding on what book to write when depends on my current contracts. I'm never short of ideas or characters, but if I'm working on an Urban Fantasy, then more than likely it's a heroine that wants her story told. For Dark Fantasy I tend to write the hero's story and for Paranormal Romance I'll write the heroine's story or the hero's story.
As for which individual character gets his or her story first, that pretty much depends on them. Usually in a series I know which character's book will come first, then from there the secondary characters step up and let me know 'hey, I'm next. I won't go away until you give me equal ego time'.
KH: What is your website address and do you have a blog or email address where readers can reach you?
AA: I have a three websites:
http://www.angeliquearmae.com (dark and urban
fantasy)
http://www.madubarry.com (erotica)
http://www.deadwalkers.com (Dead Walker Series
website)
Thanks for interviewing me!

EXCERPT FROM THE ELIXIR MAIDENS 2: SCARLET BY KATE HILL:
In his room above the club area of Burgundy Peak, Greg undressed slowly, his stomach taut with anxiety. What the hell had made him give in to the urge to get personal with a member of his audience? The answer was obvious. Not only was the guy gorgeous in a rough and ready sort of way, but he looked at Scarlet with an expression hot enough to melt the iciest heart. Those dark blue eyes, aglow with vampiric lust, seemed to burn right through him, exciting him in a way he hadnt felt in actually Greg couldnt remember a time when hed felt this attracted to anyone. The sensation was almost frightening.
Its just dinner, he told himself, but deep he feared this innocent sharing of a meal could lead to a romp in the bedroom. Then how would he explain. . .
Greg shook his head. Better not to think about it.
But thats how hed dealt with the situation all his life, by turning off any emotion that might resemble love. That way he wasnt required to explain and relive the past. Both Richie and Ruby had been telling him for years he couldnt lock away his heart forever. Eventually hed meet someone hed want to let in.
But that doesnt mean this is the guy, Greg muttered as he stepped into the shower and washed quickly, knowing he couldnt keep his dinner date waiting all night. Besides, whoever this guy was, he was attracted to Scarlet, the Elixir Maiden, the coquettish queen, not Greg. Scarlet was outgoing and flirtatious, and Greg the exact opposite.
Tonight, Scarlet would go downstairs, flirt with the hunk, enjoy dinner, and that would be all.
Sighing, he closed his eyes. Later that night, Greg would return to his room, drink some bottled blood, and drift into nightmares alone. Again.

KH: Would you tell us about your latest release?
MA: Blood Lines 3: Crimson's Rose was
released in mid-April from Loose Id. It's the story of Crimson Daly, who another vampire, Lang, is sure is a Conduit, a magnifier of vampire powers. Rojo Rose is hired to bring her in, but finds himself fascinated by her. When he finds out Lang wants her for the reason he fears most, can he become her Rose and save her from betrayal?
KH:
What are some of your upcoming projects?
MA: I'm working on a menage that's almost done, a Fling for Loose Id that's about a curse, a stag, and a hot tub, and the next Blood Lines project that's actually a prequel.
KH: What are your favorite genres/subgenres to read?
MA: I love paranormal and erotic romance. They are probably my favorite genres to read right now.
KH: I know that asking a writer to choose a favorite character is like asking her to choose a favorite child, but do you have a character or characters you feel especially close to?
MA: It is like choosing among children LOL. But Sarah, from Blood Lines: Blood Kiss is one that I do feel especially close to. She's got an inner strength and naivety that I admire.
KH: What is your website address and do you have a blog or email address where readers can contact you?

"Let me go!" She aimed a kick at his shins. He dodged it. Captured her hands before she could lift them to smack at him.
"Look, Copper." Another kick, another dodge.
"Let go."
Bastian pulled her against him. Her body slid, the contact making him moan. Such perfect breasts to suck and hold now rested against his chest. He put his thigh between her legs. The warmth surrounded him. He wanted her naked. She would arch toward him. Her hair would tickle. He rubbed his thigh across the seam of her pants.
She went slack. "Don't do this." Fear rushed off her in waves, in the scent of her sudden sweat. In the hair rising and goose pimples that erupted on her forearms. She thought he intended to take her by force.
He growled. Put reins on the beast he kept shackled most of the time. The beast that cried to claim what already belonged to it. His body shuddered with the effort. "I'm not going to rape you. I need to talk to you. But if I hold you like this... I may lose control. Promise me you won't go for the phone."
"I promise." She nodded. Every reaction triggered by her words told him she lied.
"Now promise me truthfully. If you fight me, I will not tell you anything more about your sister." He rubbed his leg against her again. The moisture that leaked almost undid him. Her arousal. Rip off her pants. Dive in with his fingers. Coat them in her scent. He groaned. "Not like this." Steadied his voice. "Promise me." He didn't want to scare her. But he'd never been closer to losing himself to his animal instincts than he was at that moment.
Copper swallowed. "OK. I promise I'll listen first."
He ran his fingertips one last time over the skin of her arms, and then released her. "Copper, some of this is going to sound ludicrous. I need for you to try and have an open mind." He took a deep breath. "I'm a vampire."
"You are crazy." Each word came in a measured clipped voice. "Listening time over."
"No. No, it's not." The letter opener sat on the end table by the couch. He picked it up and plunged it into his stomach. Reeled back from the pain.
Copper shrieked. "Oh, my god! What did you do that for?" Her eyes were wild and wide with a face full of horror.
"I've found..." He gritted against the pain, pulling out the opener. "...the more demonstrative the show is, the easier it is to get people to believe what I am."
He lifted his shirt, showing the pastel pink substance on his abdomen. She gasped. The wound had already started to knit itself and worked to do so more while they watched.
"I'm a vampire, Copper. A real one."
Interview with Jeanne Barrack
KH: Would you tell us about your latest release?
JB: Here's the blurb for it.
It was inspired by an old Gaelic folk song to which I added a bit of spice!
The place: Ireland, a long, long time ago when the Sidhe walked among mortals.
Donal Bawn was the most handsome man in all of Tipparary with a voice that could lure the birds from the trees. But that all changed when he angered Ogma, High King of the Tipperary Sidhe. Doomed to wander as a hunchback with a voice as thin as a reed, Donal keeps to the forests away from human companionship until one day he hears a melodious female voice singing a fragmented tune over and over.
Ceoleen, a beautiful female of the Galway Sidhe has also been cursed for her vanity and foolhardiness. Blinded and exiled to a fairy ring deep in the woods, she can only repeat a broken phrase of music until that fated day when Donal finishes the song for her.
But their curses are only partially broken. It will take a great deal more than music to decide their fate. Will their love be strong enough to finally free them?
KH: What are some of your upcoming projects?
JB: First up is a contemporary paranormal set in a male strip club. It has alien vampires and shapeshifters. This was inspired by TIm McGraw's Country Western song, "Real, Good Man". The title comes from another Country song, "No One Else on Earth" and is due later this year from Loose Id. I also have an historical vampire story and another story inspired by Gaelic myths and one set in modern day and biblical Israel.
KH: What are your favorite genres/subgenres to read?
JB: I love to read what I write - sexy, fantasy/paranormal romances. Also horror and historical romances.
KH: I know that asking a writer to choose a favorite character is like asking her to choose a favorite child, but do you have a character or characters you feel especially close to?
JB: If forced to choose, I would have to go with the heroine/hero from "Amber Inferno". There was just something about their relationship with each other that got to me. Princess Rayne and Prince Pentar are two very independent, feisty characters who fight against their attraction to each other. They go through many adventures before they face their most powerful opponents.

His grip on her arms tightened.
"Donal, you're hurting me. I want to feel the rest of you. Please, let me."
He pushed her back on her heels, breaking contact with her seeking hands. "Nay, a stsr, I can't allow that."
She sank down, her legs giving out beneath her, and shook her head. "I don't understand. Why not?"
He hardened his heart. If he gave in to her now, and then later he should become hunched? Nay, let her think him domineering. In fact ...
His voice harsh, he answered her. "Because I will it so." He paused. "Do you truly wish to be my spouse? To cater to my every whim? To satisfy my every want?"
Her voice trembled but she responded at once. "Aye."
"Then listen well. I shall never hurt you, but the only way I will make love with you is with your hands bound. Do you agree to this? Else I shall leave you."
Ceoleen shivered. Never had she allowed any of the fir-Sidhe to restrain her. In fact, 'twas she who took the dominant position. Perhaps that was why none of her fairy lovers had truly satisfied her. She took a trembling breath. Her hands remembered the strong, proud features of Donal Bawn. Her body remembered his large, rough hands. Would the rest of him be as large? As strong? Would his cock be as powerful as his voice? She licked her lips. A fire started in her belly. And she answered him again.
"I will do as you command."
Donal let out his breath. He had thought she would send him packing. "Then let us get to know each other, a ghra." He trailed his hand between her breasts, dipping in the curve of her belly, down to her mound, cupping it. He could feel the soft curls beneath the wisp of a gown she wore and his fingers clutched her between her thighs.
She moaned, arching beneath his touch. Her hands reached out and he pushed them aside.
"Nay. Remember your promise. Now stay where you are. I'll get what I need from my bags."
Donal left the ringed mound and picked up his travel bag. Rummaging through it, he found a soft woolen scarf. 'Twould do.
Ceoleen had shifted so that she leaned against the whitebeam tree. Perfect.
She raised her head, sensing his presence as he drew near.
"Lift your arms above your head and cross your wrists."
Obeying him without question, she drew her slim arms up, arching her back as she did so, thrusting her breasts forward.
Donal's cock stirred and he barely contained a groan. He knelt down beside her and quickly tied her hands together then wrapped the trailing ends of the scarf around the tree. There, enough play so that she wouldn't hurt herself, and tied securely so that she couldn't get loose.
"Are you all right, a stsr? 'Tis not too tight?"
Ceoleen twisted her body and pulled at the bonds.
"'Tis fine. They're soft against my skin." She smiled and shifted her legs, the hem of her gown inching up, offering Donal a glimpse of her dimpled knees.
His prick hardened even more, throbbing, demanding. He pulled off his breeches, tossing them aside without care.
"I want you, a cuisle. You are the pulse beating in my body." His hands shook as he lifted the gown above her waist. He knelt between her legs and cupped her buttocks, raising her to his mouth, then stopped.
"Swear to me that you'll not close your legs, else I'll need to stake them open."
Ceoleen nodded. "I swear."
He thrust his tongue deep within her, seeking and finding the cream. He lapped it up like a starving man as indeed he was. She writhed within his grasp like a wild cat.
And came apart in his hands. Her climax shook her.
Interview with Laura Baumbach
KH: Would you tell us about your latest release?
LB: The e book version of my m/m romance "A Bit of Rough' was released by Torquere Press in March. It's story about finding the right person to balance your life and making compromises to make a relationship work. Here's the blurb and the link to it:
When a handsome and seductive stranger tries to pick him up in a biker bar, architect James Justin impulsively lets it happen. But his fling with hunk Bram Lord for a one nightstand that turns into something bigger.
Forceful, highly physical, Bram matches and exceeds James sexual fantasies, but shy, uncertain James struggles to be everything the strongly committed Bram wants. Personal demons and family secrets make the road to a happy for both of them as they struggle to find balance and create a relationship they can both be happy in.
http://www.torquerepress.com
My werewolf m/m romance "Out There in the Night" was also released in March by LooseId. It's about love and sacrifice and how fate control your life sometimes. I put a little of a different spin on things by making my hero/werewolf a Native American man and wove a lot of mythical elements into the story. I had a great time writing it. I played Native flute music during the love scenes with the mythical parts in them to keep the mood flowing in m,y words. I hope I managed to accomplish that.
Here is the blurb and the link for it:
What's the most pleasurable way to be made into a werewolf? By having sex with one ... and surviving.
Something Dr. Connor Jacy is about to find out after spending a long, lust-filled night of wild, animalistic and sensual lovemaking with the mysterious Native American trapper who rescued him from a snowmobile accident site in the Alaskan wilderness. It's only a few days until the full moon and once back at home, Dr. Jacy is sure it was all a dream compounded by his head injury. Unfortunately for Connor, the powerful spiritwalkers of an ancient Indian tribe have already decided to mate a modern man of medical science with a mythical creature and guardian of the night.
http://www.loose-id.net
I've attached an excerpt for Out There in the Night!
I also had a short m/f erotic story published in the April/May issue of BUST magazine, a New York based women's magazine. The story is called 'Reconnecting'. It's about the pressures and pleasures of married life. You can get a look at BUST here:
http://www.bust.com
KH: What are some of your upcoming projects?
LB: I just finished writing a m/m erotic sf story called "Details of the Hunt" for LooseId. It's about 80,000 words, long for me, and has a real adventure element to it. I plan on making it a series. I based it on a mainstream screenplay I wrote a couple of years ago and took the buddy element in it over the line and made it a romance. I originally wrote it as TV series pilot, so I plotted out six episodes to go with it. I have six stories I can turn into sequels for the main guys, Talos a huge bulky (think the Rock crossed with the creature from the black lagoon) alien time traveling 26th century bounty hunter who nabs a n 18th century young pirate in a deal for a buyer supposedly to find the last buried pirate treasure full of ancient Mayan and Aztec artifacts from a raided Spanish merchant vessel. But it only camaflouge for the real prize the buyer wants. But a genetic snare grabs hold of Talos and he takes the pirate as his own. They both end up having to fight for their lives and freedom. It has lots of fights, explosions, sword fights, sharks, time travel and sex!
Here's the blurb!
A 26th century, time-traveling, bounty hunter snatchs a 18th century Earth pirate in a deal to enrich the archeoalogical knowledge of mankind, but as he develops an attraction for the likable, free-spirited prey, he attempts to alter the deal, threatening both his own personal code of honor and the strict rules of conduct of his race. Will the love of a wily, cock-sure, young pirate be enough for the stoic hunter to risk exile from his own people?
KH: What are your favorite genres/subgenres to read?
LB: I love mysteries and thrillers! I'm an action kind of girl!
KH: I know that asking a writer to choose a favorite character is like asking her to choose a favorite child, but do you have a character or characters you feel especially close to?
LB: That's a hard one because most of my characters are male, but if I had to pick one, it would be James in "A Bit of Rough". He's a lot like I was in my twenties, looking for a permanent love, wanting to experiment with new and different people but naturally cautious, alienated from family, alone and making hs way through life that way just fine, but wanting someone to ground him. Like a strong but tender lover, which of course I let him find in Bram Lord, my hunk of a construction man.

Connor wanted to fall on the bed in a heap of sated exhaustion, but Adams hold wouldnt let him. He pushed back tentatively at the man and turned his head to look over his shoulder, but was immediately stopped by a hand in his hair gently holding him still. Connor didnt resist, but called out softly to his forceful lover.
"Adam? Talk to me?"
The hand rubbed through his hair then released him. Adams deep, rumbling tones soothed Connors unease. "This is not a time for words, adada."
Something rubbed over a patch of skin between Connors shoulder blades leaving the flesh feeling abraded as if coarse sandpaper had been used.
"It is the time for only our hearts to speak." Adams voice was indistinct and his words were marked with a lisp, like someone talking around a new set of braces, but the sincerity and love in it were clear.
Connor let his head drop and he relaxed back against the tower of stout flesh impaling him. "All right. Let our hearts talk then." Despite knowing Adam had cum, Connor could tell the man hadnt slipped out or even diminished in size.
Sensation began to creep back into Connors body and he became aware of a growing pressure just past the rim of stretched muscle inside his ass. The intense pressure reawakened the barely recovered nerves. Connor began to pant at the growing sensation, like he was coaching a first time mother through childbirth. The pressure reached a level of discomfort Connor could barely tolerate then stopped.
Connor pulled forward, intending to slip off Adams shaft a few inches to ease the fullness in his passageway. He found it impossible to do. He couldnt pull free and each attempt to do so merely increased the buzz and tingle of fullness in his ass. Suddenly the world seemed to center around the pleasure radiating from his stuffed channel.
Spiraling into a dream world of indescribable pleasure, delirious with sensation and the euphoric aftermath of an explosive orgasm, Connor sensed a change in the room. The insistent chanting grew marginally softer and the shadows around the room retreated back near the walls. Even the smell of the burning ash turned sweeter and the sounds outside the cabin disappeared entirely.
One of Adams arms dropped down for support, his fist landing next to Connors as he leaned over, cradling Connor with his broad body. Changing his thrusts, Adam began snapping his hips in a rapid-fire staccato rhythm, jabbing his swollen cock deeply into Connors most hidden recesses.
The hammering motion jarred Connors entire body and each stroke, both forward and back, pounded the engorged base of Adams cock against the clenched ring of nerves and muscles locking them together like dogs in heat. The effect was wildly overwhelming and Connor threw back his head and screamed.
"Ah! God, God, God! Jesus!"
Fire raced through every cell of his body. He felt like even his hair would burst into flame. The thick, viscous cum Adam had emptied into his ass only a moment ago coated his channel, dripping into the folds and lessening the friction the frenzied thrusts were generating. Connor burned inside and out, every pore seeming to leak heat along with his sweat.
Interview with Lena Matthews
KH: Would you tell us about your latest release?
LM: My latest release is Into Temptation. Its one of my favorite books about misspoken wishes, sulky deities, and love. Its available now at Loose Id.
KH: What are some of your upcoming projects?
LM: I have my first solo release coming out with Elloras Cave in August, entitled Stud Muffin Wanted. The story is about a woman who takes a magazine sex quiz, only to find out that out of fifty questions, she could only say yes to experiencing five. Following her best friend advice, she decides to go through the quiz and list everything she wants to try.
Several glasses of wine and a plate of Alfredo later, they come up with twenty-seven things she wants to do, thirteen things she might do and five things she wouldnt do at gunpoint. Her quest for a Stud Muffin seems all in good fun until an acquaintance comes over to her table and offers to fulfill her list.
KH: I know that asking a writer to choose a favorite character is like asking her to choose a favorite child, but do you have a character or characters you feel especially close to?
LM: I think my favorites will always be Kayla and Dylan, from my first book, Jokers Wild: Call Me. The first characters always hold a special place in a writers heart.
KH: What is your website address and do you have a blog or email address where readers can contact you?

My bedroom is around the corner and to the left.
Quickly following her instructions, Tomas took off down the dark hallway, eyes on the prize, the open doorway just steps away.
Pausing in the threshold, his eyes lit up when they landed on the bed. Pale moonlight spilled through the open blinds, filling the room with shimmering light. He couldnt make out the color of the walls, but he could make out the position of the bed.
Now this is what Im talking about. His teasing tone caused Billie to erupt into laughter again.
Her laughter shook her body as he laid her back on the mattress. The lyrical tone stirred him as much as her sexy throaty moans in the car had. Still smiling, Billie rolled to her side and turned on her bedside table lamp. With the soft glow filling the room, she got up onto her knees and went over to him. Her eyes were filled with desire as she reached the hem of his shirt and pulled it up and over his head. When his bare chest came into view, Billie greedily latched onto his left nipple with her teeth, nipping at the puckered tip.
Billie lathered the tormented peak with her tongue when Tomas growled. Pulling back she looked up at him with a smile. Cant handle a bit of pain?
Her words were like arrows to his aroused groin. You can dish it, but can you take it?
Theres only one way to find out.
It was a dare. A challenge of sorts, and Tomas was more than man enough to take it.
You know what I like about you? Tomas stepped closer to her, until his legs were touching the mattress. Billie raised a brow. Theres only one thing?
Oh no there are many, he chuckled. But one of the main things is your spirit of adventure.
Really?
Oh yes. Feeling adventurous. Capturing her hands in his, Tomas pulled her until she was pressed against his body.
Is my little sex slave, ready to obey my commands?
Her eyes widened at his words. Yes.
Tomas released her. Good. Strip.
Should I do a little dance too? she teased, moving backwards on the bed.
That sounded good to him. Yes.
Billie sat down on the bed, with her high-heeled feet flat on the quilt. Slowly, she raised one leg over the other, and dangled her left foot at him. Care to help me out?
Without saying a word, Tomas complied. Slipping his hand underneath her calf, he raised her leg, sliding his hand up her shapely calf, loving the feel of her smooth chocolate skin under his touch.
The soft caramel color of his skin against the dark deep chocolate of hers was finally coming together in the sweet resting space between her thighs. In his eyes, color meant nothing more then an erotic visual aid of what went where, a color-coded guide for their hurried need.
Interview with Shelley Munro
KH: Would you tell us about your latest release?
SM: My latest release is CURSE OF BRANDON LUPINUS, a werewolf ghost Quickie from Elloras Cave.
Since the day a witch cursed him, Brandon Lupinus has walked alone, tied to Tavistock, his ancestral home. Jess Whittleburys arrival brings unexpected changescorporeal changes. For the first time in centuries Brandon experiences passionate, unbridled sex that ignites his ghostly world with new possibilities. New problems. Brandon is no longer alone but he cant seem to break his curse and offer Jess the future she deserves.
KH: What are some of your upcoming projects?
SM: Ive recently sold my third Talking Dogs book, ROMANTIC INTERLUDE and my second Middlemarch Mating book, PEEPING TOM to Elloras Cave.
In Romantic Interlude readers will fly off to Africa in a spaceship with Richard, Hinekiri and Killer, characters they met in TALKING DOGS, ALIENS AND PURPLE PEOPLE EATERS.
In Peeping Tom, readers will meet Felix Mitchell, the second of the Mitchell brothers to meet his fate.
And in June, THE SHADOW is out in a bookstore near you. The Shadow is about a female cat burglar who is set on revenge! The cover is a cartoon one and its very cute.
KH: What are your favorite genres/subgenres to read?
SM: If I walk into a bookstore the first book I pick off the shelf is most likely to be a paranormal romance, but I also enjoy reading romantic suspense, historical and contemporary stories. It all depends on my mood at the time. At the moment Im going through a sci-fi blitz. I like to read hot and spicy when it comes to sensuality levels.
KH: Do you have a character or characters you feel especially close to?
SM: I have two characters that have stayed with me long after Ive written the end. I really like Nikolai, my SAS hero from SUMMER IN THE CITY OF SAILS. Hes a wounded hero who doesnt want the responsibility of a woman in his life. Summer gives him such a hard time and pushes him constantly until he cant do anything except give in. Nikolai has a core of goodness and hes very loyal. A real hero figure.
The other character that makes me laugh and keeps me constantly entertained is Killer the talking dog. From the moment she appeared from behind a bush in book onemuch to my surprise, shes stolen my heart. Although shes a secondary character in the three Talking Dog books she has a way of stealing the show. Shes demanding, bossy and a bit selfish at times, but in a time of crisis she does her bit and helps save the day.

Excerpt from Curse of Brandon Lupinus by Shelley Munro
For more information about CURSE OF BRANDON LUPINUS, click here.
Brandon drifted up the stairs, excitement building inside him. Curiosity. Another owner for his country estate. Mostly, he didnt care. Hed lost count of the owners over the years, but hed never felt this burgeoning anticipation before. At the top of the stairs he turned left toward the main chambers. The doors stood open and the stench of paint offended his nose. The woman was changing the interior. Again. Not that it made much difference with the hodgepodge of styles inflicted by previous owners, including his father. She would leave and another would come. He eased through the walls of each chamber without impediment, taking in her progress before returning to the passageway.
The womans presence filled the air with energy. It sizzled through his body, drawing him in. Heady. Intoxicating. Unheard of and unnerving. Brandon paused outside the stout oak door leading to the master bedroom. His heart thumped. He swallowed and felt the muscles in his throat contract. Hefelt. After hundreds of years walking alone, cursed by the old witch, he felt something other than cold, other than ice. Strange. Perhaps it was an age thing and he was gaining power. Or not. The words of the curse echoed through his mind. Walk the ghostly world. Howl at the moon. Alone Brandon Lupinus until need forces you to act as a decent man should.
He had puzzled over the meaning, walking the ghostly void alone ever since the words had past the witchs lips. Neither wolf nor ghost but a mixture, forced to live in solitary while his father passed through the heavenly gates to live in peaceful paradise.
A small cry jerked him from memories. Brandon burst through the wooden door, curiosity and a trace of fear for the woman lending him speed. One look told him it was naught but a dream causing her to cry out. He drifted up to the four-poster bed and gazed down at her sleep-flushed face. Her dark brown hair was cut short like a lads. Her face was browned from the sun yet it, along with the tiny sun-kissed spots on her face, gave her a pixyish charm. A man would want to touch each of the speckles with his mouth. Explore. Brandon reached out to brush ghostly fingers across her cheekbone, wishing more than anything to feel the silky skin of a woman again. Just once. His chest lifted and fell in a ghostly sigh. Impossible since ghosts didnt feel anything but cold. He lowered his fingers anyway, delicately brushing a tiny freckle. A flare of warmth burst up his arm without warning. Instead of the expected chill, he savored the heat from her skin. She made a soft mewing sound and flung up her arm, hitting his shoulder before it passed through him.
By Gods teeth! Hed felt that too. . .

KH:What are some of your upcoming projects?

KH: What are your favorite genres/subgenres to read?
JS: I really enjoy erotic romances. You could say Im addicted to them. My favorites are captive/bondage stories, ménage themes, fantasies and futuristics.
KH: I know that asking a writer to choose a favorite character is like asking her to choose a favorite child, but do you have a character or
characters you feel especially close to?
JS: Truthfully as I write each story I become very close to the hero and heroine as well as secondary characters. But Id have to say my most favorite thus far are Jacob and Hannah in A Hitman for Hannah (New Concepts). Its a futuristic erotic romance and I truly enjoyed having Jacob being forced to hunt down the woman he loves - who in our future society dictates he not get involved and fall in love with a Breeder Slave (Hannah), which he does. I love to torture my heroes!!

I could give your cute little ass a sound whipping. Before long youll be begging for it.
Begging? What?
It was at that moment Ashley felt the slow burn between her buttocks. What in the world was it?
As if sensing her question he chuckled and spoke. The juice of the root has the ability to create incredible horniness.
Juice? Root?
Oh, God! What had he shoved into her ass?
Bucking her hips as much as she could against the restraints to get rid of the item, Ashley quickly discovered her movements only increased the burn, which was rapidly heading into a fire.
Hows our ginger root doing? He was closer now. Too close.
She cried out as his hands curved over her buttocks again. The instant he touched the root, fire consumed her anus. She shivered as a finger dipped downward and touched her clit.
An immediate burn began there as well. Made her clit swell. Made her pussy clench. Made her cry out.
Please! Itsburning me alive. Please help meputput out the fire.
Youll have to beg a little harder than that, Ashley.
God! She was starting to feel so unbelievably horny. Her pussy was quivering, anxious to be penetrated. This must be the sexual torture hed mentioned earlier.
It wont hurt you, Starry Eyes. Unless you lied about not being allergic and I know you dont have sensitive skin.
Fire licked her buttocks as the unmistakable lash of a whip snapped against her tender flesh. Her muscles clenched the item tighter, the burn got worse.
Perspiration popped out over her skin, chilling the heat.
You shouldnt have come here, Ashley. Shouldnt have come and reminded me of what we had.
Another sharp lash.
Her buttocks clenched harder. The burn in her ass from the ginger made her gasp.
Oh, God!
Another lash, the fiery pleasure-pain made her forget the burn. Made her want more.
I remember how you craved Blades cock up your ass while I whipped your breasts. Do you remember Blade?
Another sharp snap. She cried out as her buttocks clenched around fire.
Her pussy was on fire now too. A wonderful horniness that begged to be satisfied.
I asked if you remember, Blade?
Yes, she whimpered. The coldness in his voice made her wonder once again if hed been jealous of Blade fucking her.
Did you enjoy the things he did to you, Starry Eyes? Did you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed watching?
Oh sweet heavens!
Interview with Jory Strong
KH: Would you tell us about your latest release?
JS: The latest to come out was the third and final book in the Carnival Tarot series, Dakotah's Reading. It features Dakotah and Domino who were both introduced in Sarael's Reading. Domino was also a presence in Kiziah's Reading.
Dakotah's Reading is a vampire/shapeshifter story. Dakotah is running from an enemy who won't stop until she's dead. Domino is intent on avoiding the instinct hard-wired into him to take a mate and convert her to a kadine--a female capable of bearing his children as there are no female vampires.
The next book to come out with be Fallon Mates: Roping Savannah, which just went to my EC editor. I'm hoping June on this one.
KH: What are some of your upcoming projects?
JS: I'm in between projects right now, but by year-end I want to have third books written for The Angelini and the Supernatural Bonds series, plus a fourth book for Crime Tells. The next Angelini book is Mystic's Run (3 men, one woman). Sophie's Dragon is next for Supernatural Bonds. Not sure which Crime Tells book I'll do.
KH: What are your favorite genres/subgenres to read?
JS: I read a wide range of books. Everything from middle-grade/young adult stories to erotic romance. But in general I tend toward mystery/crime and urban fantasy titles.
KH: I know that asking a writer to choose a favorite character is like asking her to choose a favorite child, but do you have a character or characters you feel especially close to?
JS: You're right. Choosing a single character is tough. I'd say though, my favorite is probably Calista in Calista's Men, though Syndelle in Syndelle's Possession is a very close second.

For more information about FALLON MATES: ROPING SAVANNAH, click here.
Draigon brought her hand to his lips and pressed a kiss to it. I do not wish to argue with you, Savannah. This is the first opportunity we have had to be alone as you and Kye have been alone.
Her body softened, the anger leaving her face to be replaced by the teasing smile Draigon was coming to both love and dread. His heart raced in his chest when she closed the distance between them. Still waters run deep, she said, making him want to laugh and yet protest at the same time. But he could only groan when her finger brushed across his bottom lip as she whispered, I don't want to argue with you either.
Savannah's tongue traced the seam of his lips and Draigon was lost, assaulted by emotion and desire. His thoughts dissolving under wave after wave of need. Not just the needs of the body for release, but the hunger of the heart, the craving of the soul. For a future. A home that was more than walls of crystal.
Savannah, he said when the kiss ended, realizing as he did so that his hand had gone to her breast, was even now cupping it, pressing the hardened nipple against his palm.
She laughed, a sound that had his cock pulsing and jerking, his eyes lowering to her chest, his breath coming in shallow, rapid pants as she freed her hand from his and began unbuttoning the front of her shirt, slowly revealing curves and lightly tanned flesh. Making it impossible for him to look away.
Savannah couldn't help herself. It was like taking a dare and climbing onto a bronc or a bull. Like standing on the bare back of a horse and urging it into a canter. There was something about Draigon that made her want to be reckless, as though her own recklessness would free the man from the control and restraint he imposed on himself.
She grinned. Or maybe it was just the heated look on his face. The hooded desire, with just a touch of longing, like a boy standing in front of a store window and wanting what was displayed there.
Not that she would ever consider him a child. He was all man. Hard and fierce. Strong. Utterly and completely masculine.
She opened the front clasp of her bra and the flimsy material pulled back, one side falling away from her breast to expose a nipple already puckered, aching for the feel of Draigon's lips.

Reluctant Concubine by Eve Vaughn
Interview with NJ Walters
KH: Would you tell us about your latest release?
NJW: My latest Ellora's Cave release is a Bakra Bride, Book 2 in my Tapestries series.
BLURB:
The magical tapestry is back! This time it transports modern business woman, Jane Smith, to the medieval-like world of Javara where women are scarce and men will fight, even to the death, to have a chance to claim one for their own. If Jane doesn't have enough problems to deal with back home, now she has to contend with both Zaren and Bador Bakra. Both warriors are determined to use all their sexual skills, separately and together, to convince her to become their bride. Violence and death abound and Jane has only three days to choose.
KH: What are some of your upcoming projects?
NJW: My next Ellora's Cave book is a fun contemporary Quickie entitled Unmasking Kelly.
BLURB:
It's Halloween night and a masquerade party is in full swing at Brannigan's Pub where Kelly Allen works as a waitress. But Kelly is not working tonight. Instead, she has donned the costume of a saloon girl, and has set out to seduce the man of her dreams, Liam Brannigan. She's been in love with her boss almost from the first and tonight, hiding behind her costume and mask, she can keep her identity a secret as she attempts to seduce him into one long, hot night of pleasure.
I don't have a release date yet, but I'm hoping it will be soon. Also, the next book in my Dalakis Passion vampire series, Stefan's Salvation is currently in edits. Stefan Dalakis has left his home and family in New Orleans and ends up in North Carolina. Little does he know that salvation is close at hand.
KH: What are your favorite genres/subgenres to read?
NJW: I'm primarily a romance reader. I enjoy contemporaries and paranormal ones the most. But I also read historicals, mysteries and some fantasy ones as well. LOL If the blurb catches my attention, I'll read it!
I do read some regular mysteries and fiction, as well as some non-fiction, but I'm mainly a romance reader. Although, these days with writing so much, I rarely have time to read anymore.
KH:I know that asking a writer to choose a favorite character is like asking her to choose a favorite child, but do you have a character or characters you feel especially close to?
NJW: That is such a tough question, and you're right, it is like asking a parent to choose their favorite child.
I have a soft spot for Annabelle Lee Murphy, the female character from Annabelle Lee because it was my very first published book.Even though all my books mean a lot to me for various reasons, there is nothing quite as special as your first book.
As for male characters, well, I love them all, but I have a soft spot for the wounded hero. I think that Seth from my short story, "A Love Eternal," which was part of the Ellora's Cavemen: Legendary Tails IV anthology tugs at my heart the most.
KH: What is your website address and do you have a blog or email address where readers can contact you?
NJW: Readers can check out my website at http://www.njwalters.com or they can email me at njwalters22@yahoo.ca.
Thanks so much for inviting me to be a guest in your newsletter, Kate. I had a lot of fun answering the questions!

He gently stroked a purple violet over her cheek. That must have been what had awakened her earlier. She was enthralled by the dainty flower being held so carefully in his massive hand. In fact, she was so enthralled, she almost missed his next words. Surely a treasure like yourself is not alone?
Nerves struck her suddenly. What the heck was she doing? She was lying here next to a complete stranger. And where the heck was she? She started to scoot away, but found herself flat on her back with him leaning over her.
Bracing his arms on either side of her head, he threw one muscled thigh over her legs, caging her easily. The only thing to do was brazen it out. Listen mister. I dont know who you are or whats going on, but youd better get off me. She was pleased that she sounded so tough and decisive. That was more like her.
Except, he didnt look impressed at all. Instead, he looked quite amused. He wasnt smiling, but there was a distinct twinkle in his blue eyes. I am Zaren of the House of Bakra and you are on my land.
Well, youll have to excuse me. I have no idea exactly where I am or how I got here or where exactly here is. She knew she was starting to babble, so she took a deep breath. Calm. It was important to remain calm. Although that seemed an impossible task with a gorgeous giant looming over her. The heat coming off his large body was amazing and she had to fight her inclination to just lean into it and absorb it. The man was a living, breathing female fantasy.
Fantasy.
Of course, this is only a dream, she muttered. It was too bad he wasnt real. But on the other hand, she didnt need to be afraid of a dream. Its another dream. Just like last night. Youre one of the warriors. She didnt know why it had taken her this long to figure it out. Probably because it had been so dark in the other dream.
He stilled when she said the word dream. She could feel the sudden tension in him. Dream?
Reaching out, she patted his chest. Really, she couldnt resist a quick touch. Who knew when the dream might come to an end? I fell asleep with the tapestry again.
He struck with the swiftness of a predator bringing down prey. Her hands were captured in one of his and extended over her head. He lowered his body over her as his head moved closed to hers. She was trapped, unable to budge an inch. The indulgent male was gone, replaced by the implacable warrior.
Swallowing hard, she stared up into his hard face. He frightened her as much as he had last night. There was a barely leashed power about him that was scary. The ease with which hed overpowered her made her tremble. Stiffening her spine, she gritted her teeth as she pushed against him. Get off me, you big oaf.
He appeared to be carved out of stone. There was no give at all in his hard body or his severe features. Tell me about the tapestry.

KH: What are your favorite genres/subgenres to read?

MW: I have a fondness for Teri & Sage since they were my first paranormal
couple, and it's my first published book.

EXCERPT FROM LUST'S SHADOW BY KATE HILL:
Coming soon from New Concepts Publishing
Livias classic Guthdry upbringing rose within her and she almost demanded that she and Perrin leave after all. Almost. He stared at her with an amused expression that she swore to wipe off his face.
Ready to go home now, Livia? We can start walking and the Philztians will pick us up on the way.
In response, Livia plucked a ripe berry from the bowl in front of her and raised it to Perrins mouth. Their gazes locked for several heartbeats before he parted his lips and took the berry from her fingers. The sensation of his lips and the very tip of his tongue against her flesh made her tingle from head to toe. She chose another berry, dipped it in a sticky red sauce and offered it to him. This time when he took it, he held her hand, his tongue sliding up and down her fingers, catching the sauce that had dripped down.
Livias heart beat out of control. She stared at his tongue and lips, longing more than ever for him to kiss her.
Perrin held a slice of melon to her lips and she took it, surprised by how self-conscious she felt in a situation she had initiated. He fed her again and again. When she lifted her gaze to meet his, she saw he was staring at her lips with enough intensity to ignite an inferno. With a feather light touch he used his fingertip to trace the shape of her mouth before dropping his hand.
He drew a deep breath, a battlefield of emotions gleaming beneath the surface of his eyes. Livia nearly panicked when she sensed he was about to turn away. She couldnt bear for him to stop touching her.
Stealing the idea from a couple seated at a nearby table, Livia chose a fat berry, stuck it between her teeth, and took Perrins face in her hands. She leaned so close that he had little choice but to take a bite from the berry. When he did so, he took her face in his hands as well, his touch firm yet gentle. The action of his mouth was far more demanding. He took half of the berry, but refused to let her go. Livia scarcely had time to chew and swallow before his mouth covered hers in a kiss so deep she momentarily forgot where they were. Closing her eyes, she relished the sensation of his tongue caressing hers with long, wet, rhythmic strokes that made her ache with carnal need. Her hands moved from his face to his hair. Sliding her fingers through it, she pulled him even closer. Perrins arms wound around her, pressing her so near to his rock hard body that she felt his heart pounding against her.
Tentatively she ran her fingertips over his forehead, curious to finally know what those intriguing scales felt like. They were warm, like normal flesh, and surprisingly smooth. Not at all unpleasant.
When the kiss broke, she sat panting, trembling with desire. He glanced at the meal, selected a tender chunk of meat and fed it to her, though her appetite for food had already diminished. She reciprocated, loving the feeling of his tongue, teeth, and lips as he nibbled her fingertip along with the meat.
Livia reached for her wine glass and took a sip of the sweet red liquid. She offered the glass to Perrin. His hand brushed hers as he accepted it and sipped from the same place where her lips had rested. That simple gesture incited her passion even more. It seemed he was enjoying the celebration as much as she was.
