It’s time for the Weekend Writing Warriors, the blog hop in which writers share 8-10 sentences from their work.<\/p>\nThe following excerpt from Through My Heart<\/em> continues where last week left off. Adrian has just made Anna a vampire and she’s getting used to her new life.<\/p>\n It’s hard to believe we’re 8 days into October already! If you have a moment, stop by my Halloween Page<\/a>. It’s running all month long.<\/p>\n Excerpt from Through My Heart<\/strong><\/p>\n “Adrian. Call me Adrian.”<\/p>\n “Adrian, there’s so much I don’t understand. How did we turn to smoke? How did you make me like you? Will I never be able to look at the sun again?”<\/p>\n Resting his hands on my shoulders, he held my gaze. “I’ll answer your questions soon. First, I must see to the crew and make sure we leave this place. Something isn’t right here.”<\/p>\n And a bit more, if you’d like to continue:<\/strong><\/p>\n A shiver ran through me. “I know. I, too, sense it somehow.”<\/p>\n “Your senses are heightened now<\/p>\n . You’ll see, hear, smell, and feel things differently than you did as a mortal. Some things will be stronger, and others far less potent. This life can be beautiful for someone like you, Anna. For now, rest. It’s better for us to sleep by day. I’ll be back soon.”<\/p>\n He covered my mouth in a gentle kiss.<\/p>\n Adrian<\/strong> \u2013 I am a vampire whose physical ugliness intensified with my immortality. For centuries I hunted alone, disguising myself from prey, preferring illusions to brutal attacks. Others of my kind spurned me. Some tried to destroy me, and on them I unleashed my wrath. I suffered the agony of eternal loneliness, and then I met Anna.<\/p>\n Anna<\/strong> \u2013 My life was almost unbearable until a tall, black-haired stranger with fiery eyes and needle sharp teeth drank my blood and swept me into an unimaginable world. From the night we met, I gave Adrian my heart, but a lie spun by a jealous enemy drove us apart.
