In it authors share 8-10 sentences from their work.<\/p>\nThis week’s excerpt is from Captain’s Mercy, the first in the Barnes Family series. It’s Mercy’s first day as Faith’s companion. Her brother, Jonah, who hired Mercy, is no smoother at home than he had been in his office earlier that day. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
Excerpt:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cMiss Brown, please join us,\u201d Faith said.<\/p>\n Mercy walked through the doors and took the chair opposite Faith at the table. She hoped her smile didn\u2019t look forced.<\/p>\n \u201cI was telling Jonah how happy I am that you\u2019re here.\u201d<\/p>\n Mercy\u2019s gaze shifted to Jonah who didn\u2019t so much as glance at her. His attention remained fixed on a letter he was reading. With encouragement from Faith, she begins her first novel, an erotic adventure featuring a hero modeled after Jonah. When pages from it go missing, she fears that her gruff employer will discover the nature of her feelings for him and possibly dismiss her. That might be for the best, because if she stays, her attachment to the Barnes family could endanger her life.<\/p>\n Note: Captain\u2019s Mercy was previously published.
