Excerpt:<\/strong><\/p>\n The first death in the small village where Guy lived with his family didn’t raise suspicion. Many children didn’t survive to maturity. Thomas had been a good friend to Guy. At ten years old, they worked alongside their fathers in the fields, fished together, and made plans for the future.<\/p>\n Guy never forgot how he felt on the morning that Thomas was found dead in the loft where he slept. Though Guy went to the field with his father, he wished to run away and think about his friend, but he couldn’t neglect his chores, especially with Thomas’s family in mourning. The harvest would come, regardless of who lived or died.<\/p>\n “I know how you must feel, son,” his father said, resting a hand on Guy’s shoulder. Squinting, he gazed at the sunny sky and shook his head before continuing, “Thomas will be missed by all, but the harvest will be here before we know it. When you think about Thomas, remember the good times you had.”<\/p>\n Guy nodded, though his father’s words offered little comfort. What good was remembering when it only reminded him of what he’d lost?<\/p>\n The second death\u2014a recently betrothed girl\u2014caused more unease than Thomas’s. By the fourth and fifth inside a month, the village was in a state of terror. People were dying without declining health and without a mark on their bodies. Some sort of evil plague afflicted their once happy home and it would inevitably claim more lives.<\/p>\n On the night of the full moon, Guy heard scratching at the window. He rose from his nest of blankets not far from the hearth in the main room of his parents’ house. As if compelled, he crept to the window and peered through the slightest crack in the shutters. Outside plants nearly ready for harvest swayed in the gentle wind blowing through the moonlit fields. Longing for a breath of cool air, Guy opened the shutters just a bit.<\/p>\n The gray, shapeless cloud forced its way through the window, almost knocking Guy off his feet.<\/p>\n In the early 1200s, a faithful knight, excommunicated for using his powers as a warrior witch to battle evil, established a fellowship of witches called the Warriors of Sir Guy. For years he led his brothers against demons until he was captured, tortured, and murdered by the demoness Cassia.<\/p>\n The Warriors of Sir guy hunted and destroyed her, but her offspring by Sir Guy escaped. For centuries they tracked the half-demon spawn, vowing that they wouldn’t rest until it was destroyed.<\/p>\n In the modern world, the warrior witch Robin, a member of the Warriors of Sir Guy, is on the verge of slaying the half-demon child of the fellowship’s founder, but he realizes Sir Guy’s offspring is his father’s son.
