Um. I can write sex scenes pretty much at any time. Usually, the scenes come after a build-up which gets me “in the mood” to finish it.

What is the most difficult thing about writing?

The emotional rollercoaster ride of it all. I cry with my characters. I laugh with them. During the writing process, I am so involved in their world it is as if it is real and the characters are breathing along with me.

What are you working on now?

I’m working on an erotic romance novella coming out in September that will be a stand-alone and in a box set with a great group of romance writers.

Do you have an excerpt from your latest release you would like to share?

She took off her shoes, socks, tank top, and bra. She wiggled out of her panties and yoga pants before she glanced at the mirror and noticed him watching her. She wasn’t sure whether his flushed face meant he was aroused or just plain angry at all the scars covering her flesh. She couldn’t read him and the epic failure to get him angry and aroused in the living room had her second-guessing her list with him as her partner. The more they were together, the closer he held her. Were all his caresses “friend” caresses?

Just minutes earlier he’d held her like a lover. But, like always, he pushed her away again before anything could happen, good or bad. He cared for her, but the more she considered his reaction to her nudity, the more she believed he was angry, not even slightly aroused. No matter what he said about her scars making her strong, they were an ugly reminder of weakness—the same weakness Colin saw in her every day as he trained her.

She reached into the open shower and turned on the water. Analyzing every little word, touch, expression wasn’t getting her anywhere. The sexual frustration and sleepless nights in the same bed with her cowboy didn’t help either.

“Be careful, darlin’. It’s gonna be really hot.”

“Thanks.”

Hot wasn’t what she needed. Maybe a cold shower would kill her desire for him, shock her body into reality. Sex with Brady was high on her Horse List because it was likely never to happen. He wasn’t into her, and she panicked when he touched her uncovered scars.

She turned the handle to cold, freezing cold, and stepped inside. She squeaked as the splash of icy water hit her warm, tanned legs.

“Ava, are you okay?” Brady shouted, sliding in his white socks into the bathroom and stopping in front of the shower in black boxers, ready to attack an intruder. Something had him as jumpy as Colin. He was usually a calm influence, rarely the first in a fight. He didn’t join in unless he saw real trouble.

He stepped into the shower with her, and shuddered. “Shit. It’s freezing.” Without asking, he reached past her, brushing his arm against her breasts, and turned the handle to warm. “Ava, you’ve got to pay atten—” Worried hazel eyes focused on her.

“Brady, I’m…” God help her, she was lost in those brown eyes with the most remarkable specks of green sparkling like fireworks.

She loved him, always had, always would.

His hand drifted around and cradled the back of her head. His lids glided down as his lips came millimeters from hers. Firm pressure against the back of her head brought her chin up a hair, taking her so close to a kiss. So close.

“Please,” she whispered, not sure whether it was for a kiss or for him to take her, make her forget everything, everyone…make her feel loved, wanted, controlled…

What three words would the hero of your story use to describe his love interest?

Sexy. Poems and love letters for special people quickly became part of my regular life. But, it wasn’t until I came down with insomnia that I began writing novels and novellas. I was homeschooling my three children, taking care of three dogs and a husband, and suddenly I had time when everyone was sleeping. I took that time and decided to write the stories living in my mind. I called up a friend to read my many, many drafts. Soon, she told friends about my stories. I sent my stories to more friends and friends of friends. We had the best time chatting and gushing over the characters. They encouraged me to take the next step to publishing and have been my cheerleaders along the emotional ups and downs along the way.

Do you have any pets?

I have two writing partner dogs – Mike, a handsome, black and white whippet, and Evelyn, some kind of beautiful chocolatey-orange terrier mix. No one could get in without a dozen or more security men hidden, and not-so hidden, around the property texting or calling Colin, and he hadn’t texted or checked his phone in front of her for at least a half hour.

Brady walked into view with a towel wrapped low around his hips, showing off the ridges and valleys of his defined abdominals. Her eyes drifted up the abs she dreamed of caressing over his ribcage to the chest she slept against every night. She licked her lips imagining the taste of the drop of water sliding down the side of his neck, across the line of his collarbone pooling in the notch in the center. Gosh, every inch of him sent jolts of electricity from her heart to her center.

Colin released his hold, but stayed coiled for a fight. “Brady, I’m leaving before I start yelling at Ava again.” He pivoted toward the door they just walked through, freeing her to ogle her cowboy from the physical obstacle known as her “angry Irishman.” “Call me and we’ll discuss her training when I’m not so—”

“—irritated because you’re not a real equestrian,” she mumbled before her brain shut down her mouth.
