If I\u2019d known all it would take to get your attention was a sharpie, I might\u2019ve done this months ago.\u201d A low chuckle hits my ear, and I squirm a little. \u201cTo what do I owe the pleasure?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I grip the receiver a little tighter, wishing I could reach through the line and punch him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cIf you\u2019re hoping for a bootycall\u2026\u201d He pauses pointedly. \u201cI can be at your place in twenty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cOh, dream on,\u201d I snap, indignant at the suggestion. (As if I hadn\u2019t been picturing him naked approximately twenty-seven seconds ago.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cI <em>was<\/em> dreaming,\u201d he reminds me. \u201cYou just woke me. And it was a good dream. Amy Adams was in it. So, unless you\u2019re about to make a point, I suggest you let me get back to her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I roll my eyes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cWell?\u201d he prompts. \u201cWhat\u2019s it gonna be?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cI\u2026\u201d My teeth chew my bottom lip. \u201cI\u2026 sort of\u2026 need your help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">He goes silent for a beat, contemplating that. \u201cGonna need a few more details, babe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I hedge. \u201cWell, see, I\u2019m in a bit of a jam. I know you said you\u2019re safe, but I also know you\u2019re in more than a <em>bit of a jam<\/em> if you had to resort to calling me.\u201d He pauses. \u201cFurthermore, I know I\u2019m gonna be the one who helps you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">My mouth parches. \u201cBut Phoebe really won\u2019t mind.
