Every week in the WeWriWa blog hop, writers post 8-10 sentences from one of their books. The past few excerpts I’ve posted have involved Grit, a werewolf gladiator, and Haylen, the demon who restored Grit’s life after he was killed in the arena. In this snippet, a young witch, Maddy, has uncovered information about Haylen’s past and reports it to Grit and others who are in a war against the demons.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaylen is fascinating — for a demon, I mean,\u201d Maddy explained, noting the strange looks from her companions. <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cHe was actually a faith healer in England around the year 800.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cA charlatan,\u201d Christian said with contempt. \u201cIt\u2019s not shocking that he\u2019s a demon.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAccording to the history books, he wasn\u2019t a fraud at all. Healing by touch is a rare gift, bestowed by the divine.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re trying to tell us he\u2019s a fallen angel?\u201d Zari asked. <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cNo. He was human, but gifted. He allegedly healed many people in his village and the surrounding ones, and he was known as a good man.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

About Fangs and Fists: Grit<\/p>\n

Werewolf gladiator Grit faced his own mortality in the arena, only to be resurrected by a demon. Grit now lives a shadowy existence as one of the soulless, remembering only bits and pieces of his former life. Nonetheless, he recognizes evil and knows he must fight for the future of his young son, as well as the rest of the world.<\/p>\n

Zari, a vampire warrior, helped Grit escape the tower where he had been imprisoned. She had feelings for Grit when they’d first met, but at the time he had been mated to another wolf. Now that he’s on his own, they’re free to explore their feelings as they fight side by side as part of the rebellion against the demons. In the midst of war, their love grows, but danger is everywhere.<\/p>\n

Haylen, the demon who resurrected Grit, offers a bargain that may save or destroy the rebellion. Whatever the outcome, Zari and Grit intend to face it together and explore the once forbidden passion between them.<\/p>\n
