In the WeWriWa blog hop, writers post 8-10 sentences from one of their books. Last week, my snippet left off with the witch Maddy uncovering information about the demon Haylen’s past. She revealed that he was once a faith healer. This excerpt continues the scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow did he end up a demon?\u201d Grit asked. <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWhile he was away, his village was raided by Vikings. Everyone was slaughtered, including his wife and young son. He tried to heal them, but they were already dead. His powers could only heal the living. The dead are in the hands of heaven, or at least their souls are.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cStill waiting to hear about the demon part,\u201d Christian said, folding his arms across his chest. He didn\u2019t seem to want to hear a single good word about a demon, even if it was true and long past.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Werewolf gladiator Grit faced his own mortality in the arena, only to be resurrected by a demon. Haylen, the demon who resurrected Grit, offers a bargain that may save or destroy the rebellion. Whatever the outcome, Zari and Grit intend to face it together and explore the once forbidden passion between them.<\/p>\n
