Action star Joel Connor has kept a terrible secret for most of his life. Despite his success as an athlete and actor, he is plagued by flashbacks of a gruesome attack that destroyed his family. This Christmas, Joel returns to the house where it happened to face the ghosts of the past, but finds he is not alone.<\/p>\n

Joel and Christa are instantly attracted, but will his psychological state prevent them from finding peace and love?<\/p>\n

In her room down the hall, she pulled out her cell phone and dialed her cousin\u2019s phone number. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHey, Christa. How are you doing, girl?\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTrinity! I\u2019m so glad you picked up. I just did a bad thing and I can\u2019t tell my mother.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHow old are we now? Twenty-seven?\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cQuit the sarcasm. I\u2019m serious here.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat happened?\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Christa quickly explained about Joel, leaving out the part that he was a famous actor. She had told him that she wouldn\u2019t tell anyone about his personal life, and that definitely included blurting out to her cousin what color underwear he wore. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSo you went through all this guy\u2019s personal shit because you think he\u2019s a junkie? Christa, take my advice and get the hell out of that house.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve been talking to my mother.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy advice has nothing to do with the fact that three people were butchered there and their spirits might not be friendly. Think about your situation. You don\u2019t know anything about this guy, except that you think he\u2019s sick.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe can\u2019t be sick. He\u2019s gone out running. That\u2019s another thing, Trin. Why would he go for a run at this time of night in the snow unless he\u2019s desperate?\u201d
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know. Jeff will work out any chance he gets, day or night.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Jeff was Trinity\u2019s husband and a pretty exceptional guy. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cJeff probably isn\u2019t the best example, Trin.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just sayin\u2019. Some people work out to clear their head, you know, like we do yoga? Not that I\u2019m an expert, but from what you told me, it sounds like your boss might have panic attacks.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPanic attacks. I hadn\u2019t thought of that.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYeah. You said he\u2019s fine one minute and then sort of freaks out.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe doesn\u2019t freak out. He just got really pale a few times and he was sweating for no reason. I mean the house isn\u2019t super hot. In the kitchen, he looked almost — zoned out or scared or something.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe he has issues. Lots of people have anxiety.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Though Joel seemed collected enough, it wasn\u2019t a super stretch of the imagination to believe he had anxiety. He seemed really tense or intense. He\u2019d never been to the house before, and neither she nor any member of staff, except probably Frank, had known Joel Connor even owned the house. What if he\u2019d come here to sort out problems, or to relax? Not only had she searched through his stuff, but she\u2019d probably ruined his private time, too. <\/span><\/p>\n
