<\/a><\/center>It’s time for the\u00a0 WeWriWa blog hop. Every Sunday writers share 8-10 sentences from one of their stories.<\/p>\nThis week, my excerpt picks up where last week’s left off. Selena and Jade are currently at a refugee camp on his home planet.<\/p>\n

His answer surprised Selena. She hadn\u2019t expected him to open up to her that much. She hadn\u2019t been sure he was even capable of it.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI might not agree with violence, but I know about needing a place to belong and caring for people. I get what you\u2019re saying, Jade. Thank you for your honesty.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re welcome.\u201d He pulled on his tunic and picked up his machete. \u201cWe\u2019d better get back.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n That’s my 9 sentences, but here is the rest of Jade’s reply, to finish the section:<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019d like to stay a while.\u201d She folded her arms across her chest and glanced toward the creek.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s probably not wise for you to wander around alone at night. We don\u2019t have much crime here, but every now and then someone with criminal intent slips through. Not everyone can be trusted, and I don\u2019t want you hurt.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not the first time I\u2019ve been in a dangerous place.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cYes, but this time you\u2019re on my watch.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n This camp gives people hope and a chance to belong to a place where they\u2019ll be treated fairly\u2014where they can have a decent life. I know it might seem like my Order is all about battle, but it\u2019s more than that. We don\u2019t fight to conquer. <\/strong>We do it to protect people who need it.
