<\/a><\/center>It’s Sunday and time for the WeWriWa blog hop during which writers share 8-10 sentences from one of their stories.<\/p>\nThis week’s excerpt continues the swimming scene from my science fiction romance Warrior Priest. Selena and Jade are still getting to know each other and flirting along the way, even if he doesn’t want to admit it. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

\u201cSee. I knew I could make you smile again. Even when I was a kid, I was the class clown. I haven\u2019t lost my touch.\u201d\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cNo, you obviously haven\u2019t.\u201d He couldn\u2019t ignore the leaf in her hair any longer and impulsively tugged it out, allowing his fingertips to briefly touch her ear.<\/strong><\/p>\n This time her brow furrowed and she turned to glance at his hand. His gut tightened and he felt stupid.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n That’s 8 sentences, but here’s a bit more, if you’d like to read it.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThis was stuck in your hair. That\u2019s all.\u201d He held out the leaf.<\/strong><\/p>\n Apparently she could touch him, but she didn\u2019t care for him to touch her. Why should she? It wasn\u2019t like he was handsome\u2014not like Ari Tobias with his perfect face. Jade had big features\u2014wide cheekbones, a giant nose that had been made worse since it had been broken twice. The first time he had been stationed in the wilderness with limited <\/strong>medical care. It hadn\u2019t healed straight. He was built well enough, but it wasn\u2019t like he could show off his body, and that would most certainly be vanity. Still, he couldn\u2019t help the twinge of satisfaction when he\u2019d seen how she\u2019d looked at him in his undershirt and also at the Ceremony of Honor.<\/strong><\/p>\n She smiled. \u201cOh.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n He dropped the leaf in the water and strode toward shore. \u201cIt\u2019s getting late and I have to be up early for the prayer ceremony tomorrow.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cYes, I\u2019m looking forward to it.\u201d Selena followed him out of the water. He tossed her the towel and turned his back to her. While she dried off, he pulled his tunic over his wet clothes. <\/strong><\/p>\n After a moment, she said, \u201cYou can turn around now.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n He did, and she held the towel out to him. Careful not to touch her, he accepted the towel and scrubbed it over his wet hair.<\/strong><\/p>\n Studying him with an amused smile, she folded her arms across her chest. \u201cThat didn\u2019t help much. You don\u2019t have hair. You have a mane.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n He wasn\u2019t sure if that was a compliment. <\/strong><\/p>\n Warrior Priest<\/strong><\/p>\n (Science Fiction Romance)<\/p>\n What happens when a warrior priest from a strict religion meets a free-spirited priestess from a new age commune?<\/p>\n Jade and Selena are as different as two people can be, but to facilitate an alliance between their worlds, they engage in a cultural exchange.
