In this snippet from my science fiction romance Warrior Priest, Jade and Selena have survived a shuttle crash and are living in a rural village until help arrives. While Jade works as a fruit picker, Selena assists at the local clinic.\u00a0 At the end of the day, they finally meet up.<\/p>\n

For him, the day went uneventfully. When he arrived at the house, Selena and Drea were talking in the living room.<\/p>\n \u201cHow did it go today?\u201d Jade asked. \u201cEveryone healthy and healing?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYes.\u201d Selena smiled. \u201cEverything went excellent.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIf you\u2019ll excuse me, I\u2019m going to see how dinner is coming.\u201d Drea left the room.<\/p>\n Selena stood and slid her arms around Jade\u2019s neck.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m filthy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t care.\u201d<\/p>\n He hugged her tightly, burying his face against her shoulder.<\/p>\n When they stepped back slightly, their hands still resting on each other, she said, \u201cI\u2019m so happy the delivery went well. It was lovely, Jade.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re lovely.\u201d He cupped her chin and kissed her.<\/p>\n \u201cI haven\u2019t participated in many deliveries. Most of my experience has been with illness and injury.
