<\/a><\/center>Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors blog hop in which writers share 8-10 sentences from their work.<\/p>\nThis week’s excerpt from Warrior Priest picks up where last week’s left off. During a meal at the warrior priests’ temple, Jade swaps his vegetables for Selena’s meat and gets teased about it, but her friend and fellow vegan Elspeth likes the idea.<\/p>\n

Excerpt:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s a good idea.\u201d Elspeth looked as embarrassed as Selena felt. \u201cWould someone be willing to trade?\u201d<\/p>\n Several priests eagerly volunteered to swap food with her. Selena almost laughed. She wasn\u2019t sure if it was because they desperately wanted a second serving of meat or because Elspeth was stunningly pretty. With her exotic features and waist-length black hair, she was far more attractive than Selena.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s enough. Attend to your own plates,\u201d Ari Tobias said sharply, his lip curled. He used his fork to impale the meat in Elspeth\u2019s dish and drop it in his own.<\/p>\n That’s 10, but if you’d like to go on, here’s a bit more:<\/strong><\/p>\n He then gave her the equivalent from his vegetarian portions.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat do you think of Covenant so far?\u201d Shayne asked.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve only just arrived, but it\u2019s been interesting,\u201d Elspeth replied. \u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to meeting our guides.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYes. Now is a good time for that,\u201d Ari Brent said.<\/p>\n \u201cElspeth\u2019s intended guide was called away for a emergency,\u201d Tobias said, \u201cHowever I\u2019m taking his place.\u201d<\/p>\n Elspeth smiled at this bit of news, and Selena refrained from shaking her head.<\/p>\n Her friend always had an eye for attractive men, and it seemed she would now have a chance to further study her latest interest. Selena was glad she wouldn\u2019t have to spend the remainder of her visit with Tobias. She agreed with Grant that he was arrogant. Maybe she would be assigned to Shayne or someone like him. At least he had a sense of humor that tempered his ferocity.<\/p>\n \u201cAri Jade is assigned to Selena,\u201d Tobias continued.<\/p>\n Selena nearly choked on the mouthful of bread she\u2019d just swallowed.
