I’m posting one more excerpt that picks up where last week’s left off. Selena has just found out that she’ll be paired with Ari Jade for the cultural exchange, and she’s a little nervous about it. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Excerpt:<\/strong><\/p>\n She turned to Jade who glanced at her briefly before focusing again on his food. The meal continued with sparse conversation. Selena was so anxious about spending two weeks with Jade that she had lost her appetite, yet she managed to finish all her food. She noticed that Jade and several other priests took seconds, and she was somewhat surprised that was allowed. Still, this wasn\u2019t a prison, no matter how much it resembled one.<\/p>\n Jade didn\u2019t speak much, and Selena felt almost a little jealous as Ari Tobias explained what he\u2019d planned for Elspeth. From what the other priests said, he was one of the best pilots in their Order. In the morning, he intended to take her on a shuttle trip around the world. They would spend the week traveling to different regions, giving her a taste of many cultures. Elspeth couldn\u2019t hide how much this pleased her.<\/p>\n That’s 10, but if you’d like to go on, here’s a bit more:<\/strong><\/p>\n Of course. She was a romantic at heart. Despite Ari Tobias\u2019s arrogance, few women wouldn\u2019t be impressed by a private flight around the world with a handsome man of high-rank.<\/p>\n \u201cDo you have an itinerary, or are we flying by the seat of our pants?\u201d Selena asked Jade with what she hoped to be a disarming smile. Maybe he didn\u2019t talk much because he wasn\u2019t comfortable with her. If she found his ways strange, it was quite possible he felt the same way.<\/p>\n \u201cTomorrow we\u2019re going to the Kimbrian refugee camp on Redwing Island. They can use all the help they can get. A lot of them are sick, wounded, and recovering from starvation. Are you willing to go?\u201d<\/p>\n The way he flung the question at her like an insult stoked her anger. \u201cThen it will be a good place for us to learn from each other.\u201d<\/p>\n She wasn\u2019t sure what to make of him. For a brief moment, when he\u2019d offered her a way out of eating the meat, she\u2019d almost thought there was a shred of humanity within the beast. Now she wondered if Shayne wasn\u2019t right about Ari Donkey just wanting her share of meat.<\/p>\n Warrior Priest<\/strong> What happens when a warrior priest from a strict religion meets a free-spirited priestess from a new age commune?<\/p>\n Jade and Selena are as different as two people can be, but to facilitate an alliance between their worlds, they engage in a cultural exchange. With their galaxy in danger from a planet that wants to conquer or destroy all others, they realize the importance of their assignment, but it is difficult for a warrior priest and a nonviolent priestess to understand each other.<\/p>\n Selena is both attracted and appalled by his old school masculinity, and Jade is tempted to break his vow of celibacy until marriage due to his powerful desire for her.
