It’s time for the Weekend Writing Warriors blog hop during which writers share 8-10 sentences from their work.<\/p>\nThis week’s excerpt from Fangs and Fists: Grit, starts where the last scene left off. Grit wants to join the rebellion against the demon masters, but will the rebel leaders accept a shifter who has been resurrected by a demon?<\/p>\n

Excerpt:<\/strong><\/p>\n Anger ignited in Grit, but he smothered it quickly. \u201cYou have good reason to doubt me, but I can\u2019t prove myself unless you let me.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis is true,\u201d said the Alpha. \u201cYou were a wolf once. You can be one again. I\u2019m willing to give you a chance.\u201d<\/p>\n Blaxton and Ashley turned to the Alpha.<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re taking responsibility?\u201d Blaxton asked.<\/p>\n The Alpha nodded. \u201cI am.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And a bit more, if you’d like to continue the scene:<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cGunner, it\u2019s not your decision alone, nor is it solely your burden. You know I have a gift for perception, and it tells me that Grit is on our side. I stand by the decision to accept him for our cause,\u201d Ashley said.<\/p>\n The Sovereign Vampire curled his lip a bit — just enough to expose the tip of a fang. \u201cAll right. I\u2019ll agree to it, but only if we take precautions.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s right,\u201d Grit said. \u201cI was resurrected by a demon. We\u2019re called the soulless for a reason. My demon master can enter my mind at any time. Since my memories have started to return, I\u2019ve been able to push him out. At least it feels that way. But before the incident at the tower, when I started to remember who I was, I was controlled by the demon. I can\u2019t guarantee that he\u2019s not in my mind right now, listening.\u201d<\/p>\n Grit by Kate Hill<\/p>\n Werewolf gladiator Grit faced his own mortality in the arena, only to be resurrected by a demon. Grit now lives a shadowy existence as one of the soulless, remembering only bits and pieces of his former life. Nonetheless, he recognizes evil and knows he must fight for the future of his young son, as well as the rest of the world.<\/p>\n Zari, a vampire warrior, helped Grit escape the tower where he had been imprisoned. She had feelings for Grit when they’d first met, but at the time he had been mated to another wolf. Now that he’s on his own, they’re free to explore their feelings as they fight side by side as part of the rebellion against the demons. In the midst of war, their love grows, but danger is everywhere.<\/p>\n Haylen, the demon who resurrected Grit, offers a bargain that may save or destroy the rebellion.
