As an author, I was thrilled to get back the rights to books from former publishers. It meant I could revise the stories, add new scenes, and delete ones that I felt didn\u2019t belong. It meant new cover art and new editing to catch old mistakes. Lots of pluses for me as an author, but what about readers?<\/p>\n
What\u2019s in it for them? Why should I ask them to re-purchase and re-read my books? A re-release by an indie author means that you\u2019re getting the version that\u2019s closest to that author\u2019s intentions for the story. I don\u2019t mean that the author necessarily does everything themselves. Working with professional cover artists, editors, and formatters is helpful and often necessary to offer the best story to readers. What I mean is, the author actually has the final say on content and presentation.<\/p>\n
What will you get in new versions of my books, such as the Darkness Therein<\/em>? You\u2019ll get a story that focuses more on the characters and less on excessive sex scenes. My revised books definitely have steamy scenes, but they come about in a more natural way that\u2019s truer to the characters. I\u2019ve worked on making the books more romantic with the focus on the love between the main characters rather than sex scenes to meet a quota. I love writing erotic romance, but in my books I\u2019ve always felt that the steamy scenes are better when the characters are in love. Romance readers deserve an actual story. I know that\u2019s what I want when I pick up a book.<\/p>\n With revised stories, I also like to include additional scenes. Sometimes the scenes are worked into the story. Other times, they\u2019re included at the back of the book. This revised version of the Darkness Therein<\/em> has two scenes in the back that focus on the villainous First Father and Adam, a secondary character who is also the hero of the Immaculate<\/em> (coming soon).<\/p>\n As a reader, you should expect a different or improved version of a book that\u2019s a re-release.
