Reviews and recommendations on the Compelling Beasts blog are my honest opinion. I purchase the books, comics, and movies that I recommend and review and I do not accept free copies for review.
An attractive businessman driving alone through the desert is abducted and tortured by a sadistic enemy.
Eddie (played by Luke Goss), a seemingly normal family man, has no idea why Jimmy (played by Lance Henriksen) is tormenting him. Completely at Jimmy’s mercy, Eddie suffers a number of physical and psychological tortures, all carefully planned by a man filled with hate.
It’s hard not to sympathize with Eddie. All he wants is to get home to his family, but all Jimmy wants is to make Eddie’s life a living hell.
Bone Dry focuses completely on two main characters. Other characters are introduced briefly, but Eddie and Jimmy truly carry the entire show and they do it well. There’s great chemistry between these two adversaries as they try to outsmart each other. Jimmy seems to have all the advantages and you want Eddie to escape or at least find some relief from the torment. From being buried alive to a rather unforgettable cactus scene, Eddie truly suffers throughout this movie, but does he deserve the viewer’s sympathy? Is Jimmy just a crazy or does he have a good reason for toying with Eddie?
I recommend Bone Dry to those who enjoy suspense and mind games. It’s a movie I’ve watched several times and it never fails to make me tense.
