Reviews and recommendations on the Compelling Beasts blog are my honest opinion. I purchase the books, comics, and movies that I recommend and review and I do not accept free copies for review.
Michael Savion (Luke Goss) starts out as a hero–a cop doing his best to fight crime. His job is tough on a good day, but things start to go really bad when a child is killed during a bust. His problems continue when his younger brother is murdered by gang members and the law does little to help. Finally fed up with the system, Michael goes undercover to punish his brother’s killer.
Michael breaks the rules, but it’s easy to empathize with him. He’s willing to risk himself and also take the wrong steps for the right reason. With him, there’s a fine line between hero and antihero.
The plot might not be the most unique, but it’s action packed with interesting characters and some emotional moments. Other than Michael, my favorite character is Anya (AnnaLynne McCord). She’s a woman with secrets, also smart, skilled and courageous. The fight scene toward the end of the movie (preceded by a short but spellbinding belly dance) was over the top fun with Michael battling a gladiator-type giant.
I’ve watched Blood Out Multiple times and enjoyed every viewing. If you like a tormented, vigilante antihero, I recommended this movie.
