How long have you been a vampire?
While I have become accustomed to being a creature of the night, know this…I did not become a vampire by choice. I was turned against my will. But that is another story.
To answer your question, my turning happened one hot August when the raspberries were in bloom over one hundred years ago. I am young for my kind.
Do you drink blood or are you a psychic vampire?
I drink blood, of course, but I do not feed indiscriminately. I have only taken my nourishment from two people. Two beautiful women I love more than my own life.
What’s the worst thing about being a vampire?
It was difficult to accept what happened to me, but once I did, I tried to take my new life in stride. I would have to say that the worst thing about being a vampire is the loneliness. Because I do not age, I cannot stay in one place for too long, so making friends is problematic. So, it’s only been my sister and I throughout the years. And while I love her with everything in me, I longed for someone to call my own.
What is the best thing about being a vampire?
I have seen and experienced so many wonderful things in my century of life. But I have to say the best thing was discovering had I not become a vampire, I wouldn’t have been alive to meet my soulmate. The thought of what I might of missed makes my blood run even colder!
Are there many others like you?
There are vampires all over the world, some living in large clans, others like myself, preferring to live on their own. We often come together for meetings or celebrations, but I am not a social creature. Some of the vampires I’ve met in the past can be quite cruel and dangerous to humans and I am not that way.
When I was a young vampire and learning about my own kind, I was involved with a beautiful vampiress, but one night I walked in on her torturing and killing a human familiar (blood host). The horrific scene made me realize I wasn’t that type of man…vampire. I walked away and never returned to the clan.
Are you a magical creature or are you a different species?
I am a man. Or was a man. Now I am more.
Do you enjoy being a vampire?
At first I hated what I’d become. If Aithne, my beloved sister, had not forced me to feed, I would have gladly died. Then, I used the hate I had for what I was to find the creatures who’d made me like them.
It was many years later that I truly accepted what I was. And it was only when I found my sweet soulmate did I finally begin to live. Yet that finding was fraught with so much fear and uncertainty, there was a time I thought perhaps dying would be best for everyone.
How do you feel about humans?
There are good humans and bad humans, just as there are good vamps and bad vamps. I try to judge each person on their own merit.
Where are you from?
I was born in the small town of Sonora, California. A beautiful mountain city, yet when I think about it, I am filled with pain, regret and grief. Again…that is another story.
Name one person you admire.
My sister, Aithne. She has stood by me, no matter what I was going through. She kept me alive when all I wanted to do was walk into the sun. She has encouraged me, helped me stay strong, worked by my side and given up her life for me. And, when the time came, she did the most wondrous thing of all.
She let me go.
What is your main purpose in life?
I have had many purposes in my hundred plus years of life. Before I became a vampire, I was a simple lad working for his family. Then I chose a life of vengeance, punishing those who’d destroyed my life.
I’ve been a poet, an artist and a warrior. In this latest life I am a simple businessman who, along with my sister, runs a specialty shop called Don’t Spank the Vamp. It caters to those adventurous souls who want a little spice added to their lovemaking.
Need a sexy movie to get you and your lover in the mood? Don’t Spank the Vamp has it. Interested in trying some fun sex toys? From Anal Beads to Handcuffs to Swings, Don’t Spank the Vamp has a large selection of things to play with. Want to try a few different paddles on your partner? We have all shapes and sizes.
But remember the name of the shop! There is a reason it’s named Don’t Spank the Vamp!!!
Who is your greatest enemy and why?
The creatures who made me a vampire were my enemies for many years. And once they were taken care of, to my shame, I became my own worst enemy. It was only much later that I made peace with myself.
And it was my precious, beautiful soulmate who taught me how to love.
Do you have a love interest?
Love interest? Such paltry words for how I feel about the woman who owns my very soul. Every time I see her I realize “my night has become a sunny dawn because of her.”
She is my darling Dawn, my soulmate, the love of my life. Some friends who wanted to give her a birthday present brought her to my shop. One look at her and I knew.
She would be mine forever.
It wasn’t smooth sailing for either of us. I was afraid to tell her what I was and came close to losing her because of it. She was an artist on the brink of a wondrous new career and almost had to choose between fame and love.
I’m just grateful we found our way to each other.
What makes you happy?
An easy question. Being with my sweet Dawn makes me happy. I enjoy watching her eyes light up when we discover a new artist on Monterey Bay’s Fisherman’s Warf. I feel a peace like I’ve never known as we wander hand in hand along the beach in the moonlight. Even something as ridiculous as sharing a dripping ice cream cone as we shop for tacky souvenirs makes me smile.
And making love to her? I cannot describe the joy it gives me to share my heart, soul and body with the woman I love.
What do you think is your greatest strength?
Dawn. Loving her makes me the strongest creature on the planet. I am a better man when I am with her. She makes me proud to be a vampire.
What do you think is your greatest weakness?
Again, Dawn. The fear of losing her sends me to my knees. Our love keeps me healthy and whole. I’ve waited so long for her, I can’t imagine a world without her in it.
I’m truly glad I will never have to.
Blurb:
Take a Walk on the Wild Side. Toys Included.
Dawn is so focused on making a name for herself in the art world, her personal life has fallen into a rut. She spends far more time with her hands in clay than on a man. Then her friends liven things up by taking her to a toy shop for her birthday. A very different kind of toy shop for special sexual games. And there’s more than sexy entertainment on the shelves—a fortune teller says Dawn’s destiny awaits if only she will reach out and take it.
Aidan is a vampire who has existed for over a century searching for his one true soulmate, his twin-flame. One look at Dawn takes Aidan’s breath away. One kiss later, he knows she is the one woman who will sustain him forever—if he can convince her to walk with him on the wild side.
Dawn responds to his inspiration better than he could have hoped. Then she goes one toy too far…
Excerpt:
Aidan hadn’t yet released Dawn’s hand. When she surreptitiously tried to tug it away, he just smiled and held on tighter. He wasn’t about to let her go now that he had her. Besides, she was staring at him with the oddest look on her face.
“Is there something wrong?”
“I would love to get my hands on you,” she muttered.
He felt his pulse spike at her words. His cock, already hard just from being near her, gave a hard throb in reaction. “I beg your pardon?”
Dawn went bright red. She groaned when she realized she’d spoken her thoughts aloud. “Uhhh…”
Sam giggled. “She wants to use you.”
“Sam!”
Aidan looked back and forth between them. “I’m afraid I don’t understand.”
Sighing, Dawn knew she’d have to explain. “Your sister told you I was an artist?” At his nod, she went on. “I’m a sculptor. Sometimes it’s easier to sculpt if you’ve been hands-on with the subject. To get a feel for what you want the work to look like.” She looked even more embarrassed. “Sometimes I get so caught up in the process, I just say things without thinking.”
A sexy smile curved his lips and he raised her hand to his lips again. “I’ll bet you have wonderful hands. You are more than welcome to use them on me, any time you wish.”
Dawn’s mouth dropped open and she couldn’t even respond. Had this gorgeous man just tried to hit on her? Apparently her friends thought so, because they faded away into the crowd, leaving her and Aidan alone.
“I hear you had a reading today.”
Dawn swallowed, hoping that she could talk. All her nerves were dancing at his touch. “Ummm…yes. Your sister read Tarot cards for me.”
“And did she tell you things that pleased you?”
“It was a good reading…somewhat confusing.”
Aidan lifted a dark brow. “Confusing…how so?”
She blushed. “Oh, she just said some things that were impossible right now. That’s all.”
“Anything is possible if you want it enough.” Aidan finally dropped her hand, leaving her bereft of his touch. “Life is full of possibilities.”
Dawn grinned. “Well… I must say that I hope her prediction about my art comes true. I could use a little help there.”
“I would like to see your work. Will you show it to me?”
She blinked, surprised. “I guess. If you want to see it.”
“I am interested in you, beautiful Dawn. Everything about you.”
Staring at him, she wondered if she was dreaming. She’d never had a man like this interested in her. Ever. Yet everything about him drew her to him. It didn’t make sense. She didn’t act like this. She wasn’t the type of woman who believed in lust at first sight. But this man made her panties wet and her breasts throb. She wanted to get to know him better, but there was a part of her that screamed that she knew him already. This feeling confused the hell out of her.
Aidan saw her uncertainty and it delighted him. Confusion, he could work with. It was indifference that would have destroyed their chances together. He knew she was interested in him. He could scent her arousal and it made him go even harder in response. He wasn’t sure how much longer he could take being this close to her and not taking her.
“You said you were Aithne’s business partner?”
He blinked and stared down at her, sensing her discomfort and need to change the subject. She obviously wasn’t used to being pursued by a man. Were all the men in Monterey blind?
“Yes… we both own ‘Don’t Spank the Vamp’ together.”
Dawn frowned. “It’s an unusual name. What does it mean?”
Aidan grinned and his emerald eyes darkened. “Just what it says.” He reached out and touched her cheek. “Someday, I will explain further.”
The feel of his hand on her made her knees go week. She felt all melty inside. She wavered between desire and fear. What was happening to her?
“Dance with me.”
She blinked and noticed that music had started in the background. Several couples already were circling slowly in the center of the floor.
“Please,” he murmured. “I want to hold you in my arms.”
Unable to resist his plea or the emotion that leapt inside of her at his words, she nodded mutely. Aidan’s eyes flared with heat and he took her hand to lead her out to where the others were. Once there, he pulled her swiftly into his arms, molding his hard body against hers.
Dawn couldn’t move…couldn’t breathe. If she’d been unsure before, she wasn’t any longer. Aidan’s body was so close to hers, she could feel every line of his body. Especially, the hard length of a truly impressive erection pressed against her stomach. She gulped as the full truth hit her square between the eyes.
He wanted her.
Now the question was… what was she going to do about it?
