How long have you been a vampire?
I have been baobhan sith, vampiric fey, as long as I have been me. That is who I am, that is what I am. For thousands upon thousands of years. Going back as far as the human Stone Age. But I don’t look a day over 25.
Are you a magical creature or are you a different species?
I am baobhan sith, fey, from Scottish lore, often called the dancing vampires. Like all fey I have magic. Seduction, the power to enthrall men with my beauty and my dancing is my main magic and also the ability to transform my fingernails into talons. That is what I use to rip the flesh of human men so I can drink their blood.
How do you feel about humans?
For thousands of years I thought humans were simple creatures. Then three of my sisters married humans. And I started thinking about the one I almost killed. His name is Angus. We have fallen in love. So my opinion on humans has greatly changed. But our families are trying to break up or relationship. We hurt each other once as fey and human. You see, not only did I almost kill him, he shot a burning arrow at me. These things happened about a year ago, when my sister Sorcha and her husband Ian first met. Ian and Angus are brothers. We didn’t’ mean to hurt each other, we were just following our own ways, protecting our own kind. We know better now. But my sisters still want to kill Angus. It’s a bit of a problem but no one ever said love was easy.
Where are you from?
I am from the magic realm where the gods and the fey live, we call it under hill. Last year when Angus shot me with a flaming arrow, I was able to survive because my sisters rushed me through the portal and back underhill where I immediately healed. If I had stayed in the earthly realm, I would have been burnt alive. It’s horrid to think of. But I am fine now and I assure you Angus will never shoot me with an arrow again. And I will never shred his flesh with my talons until he almost bleeds to death, like I did a year ago.
What makes you happy?
Angus makes me happy. All three of my sisters, who have married humans, Sorcha, Murdina, and Ever are happy with their husbands and I know I will be just as merry when I wed Angus. Also, to be honest, dancing and heather ale make me happy too…but not as happy as Angus makes me.
Do you have a code of honor?
I guess my main code of honor is honoring my family and the gods. And this has led Angus and I to a way to bring peace between his human family and my baobhan sith sisters. In days of old, druids bought warring human tribes together with fire festivals where they feasted with friends and family and danced to honor the gods. They made peace at these celebrations and that is what Angus and I intend to do at the festival we are throwing for our two families.

Excerpt:
You will need a potion strong enough to work on fey, for it is your sisters you are thinking of. Isn’t it?”
She nodded. “I can get one.” She held one finger to her lips and whispered, “This is our secret. Don’t warn them.”
“I came to fool your sisters because they frighten me. They remind me of Grainne.”
Tearlag laughed. “They scare me too.”
“I trust you and I want to help.” With both his hands fisted, he tapped one against the other. “I like humans. My great-grandson was the first maccallum, chief of Clan Campbell. The entire clan’s related to me. I’m always glad to help humans.”
“My thanks but even with your help I can’t pass through the portal tonight; too much is happening. The tryst between my lover and me must wait.” She let out a long sigh. “Let’s go to my hut and I’ll pretend I am madly in love with you, to make my sisters happy.”
Diarmiud took her arm in his and they strolled to the thatched-roof round house where her three sisters waited. She rubbed her lips as she stood at the entry to the wooden hut. I hope this works.
