Reviews and recommendations on the Compelling Beasts blog are my honest opinion. I purchase the books, comics, and movies that I recommend and review and I do not accept free copies for review.
When I found out Luke Goss was in a horror/suspense movie that focused on just two characters, I anticipated liking it since he’d done one of my favorites, Bone Dry. I wasn’t disappointed.
If you’re into antiheroes, Inside is full of them. Miles (Luke Goss) is sent to prison because of drugs, but he has many regrets and wants to change. His focus is to do his time and return to his family. He’s placed in a cell next to Anthony (Paul Rae) who is serving a long sentence. On Miles’s first night, the prison is terrorized by someone or something. Locked in their cells, Miles and Anthony await the arrival of the morning guards while hoping to avoid being slaughtered.
Though the movie has some gore, it relies more on edge-of-your-seat suspense. A few times I wondered if Miles wasn’t still under the influence and imagining the entire situation. Goss and Rae do a great job of building a credible bond between their characters. In a short span of time, Miles and Anthony learn to count on each other and you want them to survive.
Throughout the night, a story unfolds about another prisoner that adds to the mounting tension.
I’d recommend Inside to anyone who enjoys suspense, some blood and guts and the paranormal.
