As a kid, I watched those campy Wolfman movies on TV where this poor schmuck stumbled into a foggy, depressing town (that should have been a clue things were going downhill), met the creepy inhabitants (another clue), got mauled by a wolf, then sprouted hair like nobody’s business. While he was crying that the full moon scared the bejeebus out of him, I was looking for a good book to read.

How times—and shifters—have changed. Now, I’m writing the books, and weres are sexy beasts.

Although I’ve been penning paranormal for a few years, and had dabbled in were territory/culture in my Outlawed Realm books, I’d never created a story for an already established series. That changed when author friend Katalina Leon invited me to submit to Decadent’s popular Black Hills Wolves series. Later, Desiree Holt asked me to become one of the launch authors for her Hot Moon Rising series.

I was off and running. But there were hurdles.

As any seasoned author can attest, matching characters to plot, theme, pacing, and a thousand other details is no small feat. Trying to write within an established ‘bible’ for a series was a new challenge for me. I had to blend in core characters, locale, and history into my characters’ stories. Did I always get the details right? Nope. Thankfully, the editors were on hand to point out any mistakes I’d made.

To say I love Black Hills Wolves and Hot Moon Rising is an understatement. These were-shifter communities rock. I look forward to more stories in the future.
