When you think of them, friendly isn’t the word that comes to mind. Sometimes they’re bristly to the point of comical. They usually don’t encourage warm feelings, but strangely, even with their rough edges, they inspire affection in those closest to them.
Whether you like them doesn’t matter. What’s important is that you’re better off with them on your side than against you.
These are my top 3 grumpy guys I’d want on my side. Who are yours?
Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) from The Walking Dead – Daryl is hard on the outside, but he’s got a lot of heart. If he likes you, he’s a loyal friend. A survival expert, he’s the kind of guy you’d want fighting beside you, even if you’re not in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.
Earth 2 Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) from The Flash – Self-absorbed and insensitive, Harry first appears like villain material, but he’s actually an antihero who is bound to do the right thing, even when it means risking his own life. He’s also super smart, so whatever the problem, he’ll probably figure out a way to solve it.
Mycroft Holmes (Mark Gatiss) from Sherlock – Among the worst of crabby characters, Mycroft isn’t the sort of guy most people would like to hang out with. Even if you’re masochistic enough to encourage friendship with him, Mycroft makes it clear that on an emotional level, he has no use for people. Why would you want him on your side? Like Harry, he’s super smart, but he also has enormous political pull. This guy gets things done. And wouldn’t it be a challenge to see if someone other than his brother, Sherlock, could secure a place in his heart?
