In the Night Crew, a woman, Mae (Chasty Ballesteros), escapes from a weird mob boss, Aguilar (Danny Trejo), and ends up in the clutches of bounty hunters. When the boss sends his goons to hunt them down, the bounty hunters discover that Mae and the gang members have an unimaginable secret.
This movie has tons of action and I liked that the paranormal elements weren’t overwhelming. Mae was strong and mysterious. Her arch nemesis, Aguilar, was creepy and charismatic. At first I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the bounty hunters, but they each had distinct personalities. The leader, Wade (Luke Goss), was a tough guy with a soft side. He and another bounty hunter, Rose (Luciana Faulhaber), were definitely connected, but the relationship that develops between the two women drew me in the most. The end of the movie was unexpected, but satisfying. I would be interested in seeing another movie with these characters, but there doesn’t appear to be a sequel.
If you like movies with lots of action and a paranormal twist, try the Night Crew.
