Reviews and recommendations on the Compelling Beasts blog are my honest opinion. I purchase the books, comics, and movies that I recommend and review and I do not accept free copies for review.
As usual, the Christmas season went by too fast, but I still got in some of my old favorite Christmas movies and watched some new ones, including Red Christmas and Good Tidings that I wrote about in a previous post. I also for the first time watched the Christmas with Cookie movies.
Christmas with Cookie (2016)– As a huge fan of low budget indie horror movies, I was glad to find Christmas with Cookie. It looked like totally silly horror, and I wasn’t disappointed. It was among the stranger movies I’ve seen. Cookie is a hilarious character and I can see him hosting a regular series, critiquing other indie horror movies. If it happened, I’d watch it.
Christmas with Cookie: Locked Away (2017) – In this second movie in the series, Cookie tells a story about a vet who comes home to face zombie terror. I enjoyed the story more than the one in the first movie, and Cookie was funnier than ever. My favorite line? “Chicken noodle soup? That ain’t gonna do shit.”
Christmas with Cookie: The Watching (2018) – This installment was shorter than the first two at bout 16 minutes. I liked seeing Cookie again. This time the stories were about one couple’s trip to hell and another’s ghostly experience.
If you’re looking for serious horror or a slick production, the Cookie series probably won’t be for you, but if you love horror comedy and non-traditional Christmas movies, spend Christmas with Cookie.
