Title: The Gates (2023)
Summary: The spirit of a killer haunts the prison where he was executed, and three paranormal investigators risk everything to control him.
What I Liked: With Richard Brake (31, 3 From Hell) as the main antagonist William Colcott, this movie was a must-see for me. As Colcott, he is beyond creepy and one particular scene caught me by surprise enough to make me jump. The paranormal investigators, Lucien (Michael Yare), Frederick (John Rhys-Davies), and Emma (Elena Delia), worked great together, even though for a while it was touch and go about whether they’d put aside their differences long enough to cooperate. The supporting cast was believable, and I love that the movie is set in the late 1800s. With nice costumes and an ominous old prison for a setting, this atmospheric horror movie held my attention until the last moment.
