All of My Zombie Boyfriend took place in one city, but in My Zombie Fianc\u00e9 Edward has to leave his comfort zone and head to Kingston\u2014Ontario.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t remember exactly how it happened. It might have just been for the joke:<\/p>\n

\u201cOh my God, no way! I\u2019d love<\/em> to go to Jamaica!\u201d<\/p>\n

I certainly didn\u2019t set out to write a novel set in Ontario, especially a city I\u2019ve never (shhh!) been to, but I think it\u2019s fitting. I have a lot of roots in Ontario; the ancestor I can trace back the furthest in my family tree, a band major who served in the British Army in India, moved to Ontario and started a farm. My ancestors farmed in Ontario for several generations, until they headed West. I\u2019m sure I still have many relatives there.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a new character in My Zombie Fianc\u00e9, Claude Jenkins, who is a little tip of my hat to those early Ontario farmers. Even his name has meaning for me\u2014my grandfather\u2019s middle name is Claude, and it was his father\u2019s name, too.<\/p>\n

I also apparently have a thing for string players from Ontario??? My last ex was a double bass player from Toronto, and my wife is a cellist from Hamilton (she insists that she isn\u2019t from<\/em> Hamilton, because she was very young when her family left and she doesn\u2019t remember it. But she was at least born<\/em> there).<\/p>\n

Ontario is a beautiful province, and one I\u2019d like to explore more in the future! I hope My Zombie Fianc\u00e9 will encourage and inspire you to visit.<\/p>\n
