In my new release, Claimed By The Succubus<\/em>, my hero is not actually a hero. I guess you can say he\u2019s an anti-hero. He has his reasons for being the way he is. Reasons you may or may not agree with. However, it\u2019s hard not to fall in love with the bad boy. And Shun\u2019Uhl is definitely a bad boy, well, dragon. Today, I\u2019m going to let Shun share with you, five reasons why he doesn\u2019t believe in true love. Enjoy!<\/p>\n

Five Reasons Why I Don\u2019t Believe In True Love \u2013 From Shun\u2019Uhl<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. On my world, True Love is only found between mates. My world has been at war for so long, most mates have either died in battle or were never born because their ancestors died in battle. You only get one True Mate. I believe mine died before I ever got a chance to meet her. Therefore, love is not in my future.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    1. I\u2019m okay with living a life without love. Love makes you weak. When in love, you not only have to worry about keeping yourself alive, you have to worry about keeping your mate alive. And if you lose that person, you\u2019ll feel like your life is over. I despise weakness of any form.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. Love is a distraction. I\u2019m a soldier. I\u2019m given orders. I follow them. I don\u2019t have time for distractions. The safety of my people depends on me always having a clear head.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        1. Love is contagious. Trust me, I\u2019ve seen this for myself. When one of your friends find love, all of a sudden, they become cupid. They want you to find love too. They want you to be just as happy as they are. Some of us are content being alone. I\u2019m content, just the way I am.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          1. Last but not least, love makes you foolish. I\u2019ve seen good soldiers make bad decisions because of love. Once you find love, you no longer put your people, or your brethren first. You put the one you love first. Your decisions are now based on what will make that person happy and to hell with anyone else. My first loyalty is to my king, then to my people. I have no room in my heart or mind for love. For those of you who do believe in love and who seek it, I pity you. To those of you who don\u2019t, I salute you. Love is for fools. Don\u2019t be foolish.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            The more time I spend with her, the more she comes to like me. And though I\u2019ve tried to resist, I find myself falling for her also. Her feelings for me will change once she learns of my deception and sees how I really look. Part of me wants to complete my mission and return her to her father. Another part of me wants to remain in this form forever and spend my life with Izeria.<\/p>\n

            I have a choice to make: be honest with the female I love and risk losing her or lie to her for the rest of our lives. Unfortunately, the choice is made for me when we come under attack and I have to release my beast to protect her.<\/p>\n

            Now it is she who has to make a choice: Me and my beast or a kingdom?<\/p>\n

            I have her.<\/p>\n

            This is going smoother than I\u2019d thought it would. There will be a wrinkle in my plan once she realizes I\u2019m not taking her to Earth. For now, all is well. Or, as well as it can be, considering I\u2019m stuck in the form of an Uranian.<\/p>\n

            At least I am not locked in my parents\u2019 basement like the real Jacob Bollinger is. His family will find him, one day. For now, I will pretend to be him for as long as the princess believes this lie.<\/p>\n

            I have to act like an Uranian. I have to be nice and polite. I have to talk and pretend I like talking. I don\u2019t. I hate it. I like being alone, just me, my ship and the stars. She walks next to me, carrying the backpack with her rodent inside.<\/p>\n

            I\u2019m not a pet person. Never had one. Never wanted one. However, I cannot force her to leave her friend\u2019s animal behind. We\u2019ll figure out what to do with the thing once we make it to my world.<\/p>\n

            We have a long, cold walk ahead of us. I expect her to complain at some point. She has yet to do so. Her silence is refreshing. She\u2019s nothing like the female awaiting me on my homeworld.<\/p>\n

            Danya\u2019Osal is a beautiful female. Some say she is the most beautiful female in our galaxy. Having her as my wife will be an honor. She was chosen for me by my king. She comes from a high-society family.<\/p>\n

            She will be good for me. Yet, the day I laid eyes on Danya was nothing compared to this day, when I saw Izeria in the flesh for the first time. I had not expected to have such a physical reaction when I saw her.<\/p>\n

            A shock wave sizzled over my body when I first stared into her brown gaze. Her picture did her no justice. I thought her beautiful before I saw her. Now, I think she\u2019s stunning.<\/p>\n

            The beast inside of me is intrigued by her also. He keeps pushing me, urging me to move closer to her, to invade her personal space and sniff her. Her scent is calling to him. He yearns to touch her, to see how her skin feels.<\/p>\n

            I ignore my beast. This female is off limits for a multitude of reasons. Me having sex with her would violate not only my personal beliefs, but it would also violate my agreement with the king.<\/p>\n

            I\u2019ve agreed to return her to the North Drahken Territory so she can marry a royal and cement a bond between our territory and the territory to the west. I glance in her direction to find her staring down into the bag that contains her friend\u2019s pet.<\/p>\n

            She looks so young, so vulnerable. She is not built for my world. And she is na\u00efve. She apparently doesn\u2019t like the owner of the form I have shifted into, yet, she\u2019s allowing him to escort her off her world.<\/p>\n

            She\u2019s not wise when it comes to making life decisions. And I can tell from her lack of muscles that she\u2019s no fighter. She has to be strong for what is to come. The beings of my world will chew her up and spit her out at the first sign of weakness.<\/p>\n

            And weakness is a stench this one wears as a perfume. I do not understand why my beast is tempted by her. Normally, we go for the tougher, more capable females. Those who are warriors, those who fight for our people. Those like Danya.<\/p>\n

            Izeria is none of those things. Though I have chosen a form she doesn\u2019t like, I am not upset that I did. It means I can ignore her for the rest of the trip and she will not care. I\u2019d thought I would have to spend the trip pretending to be her friend, at least until we made it out of this galaxy.<\/p>\n

            Once we are in my own star zone, I can drop the pretense. I can reveal to her what and who I am. Will she be unhappy with me? Of course. Not my problem. My job is to keep my hands off her and return her to the king in one piece.<\/p>\n

            Her happiness is not important to me.<\/p>\n
