What is your main purpose in life?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Same as everyone else: to accomplish my goals. Which in so many words is to reshape this unfortunate earth of yours into something more pleasing, more\u2026orderly. I\u2019ve had chances in the past to accomplish this, and have always been thwarted, but this time\u2026this time I am going to win. It doesn\u2019t have to be frightening, my rule. I only ask obedience and I can provide paradise. What I offer will make it impossible to refuse me.<\/p>\n

Who is your greatest enemy and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A foolish young man named Nathan Grier, but I prefer to think of as us potential compatriots. Nathan may be the one person who can best me, but not when he understands the sacrifices he might need to make in order to win. He will choose me, and in the end we will usher in a new world together. The irony of my situation is that the very thing I once loathed\u2014humanity\u2014is where I find my greatest asset. I need a human body to come into my full power again on earth, and Nathan is that vessel. I will offer him everything he ever wanted and he will cease to be against me.<\/p>\n

Do you have a love interest?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Once\u2026a long time ago. I thought I\u2019d discovered a human worth loving, but it was a ruse. She was another fae like myself, betrothed to my brother, and our affair clearly meant nothing in the end. So I shall take her kingdom from her, and rule both earth and the Veil without the need for companionship other than what Nathan brings with him. I certainly would not deny him his incubus, even when we are one. If that is still love for Nathan, then so be it.<\/p>\n

What is your weapon of choice<\/strong>?<\/em><\/p>\n

Who needs weapons when you have power? I am sidhe, the most powerful of my kind. I can weave illusions, traverse vast distances by channeling the Veil, lay waste to cities, and turn fae and humans to my power. The only weapon I need is me.<\/p>\n

Do you have a code of honor?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I wouldn\u2019t call it honor. There are rules even I cannot break. But I suppose\u2026if I am truly bested and undone, while my temper may rage, in the end I would admit defeat and offer whatever boon I felt deserving before making my exit.<\/p>\n

What do you think is your greatest strength?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Intuition. I know what rules men, all men, and especially Nathan Grier. And when you understand your enemy, they can never rule you; you rule them.<\/p>\n

What do you think is your greatest weakness?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been told it\u2019s my pride. Perhaps my inability to believe I have any weaknesses proves that this is true.<\/p>\n

What do you think is your enemy’s greatest strength?<\/strong><\/p>\n

His stubbornness, for certain, which is why he so intrigues me. We are much alike in the end.<\/p>\n

What do you think is your enemy’s greatest weakness?<\/strong><\/p>\n

His love for his friends, his family, and his incubus. Love will be his downfall because he will do anything to protect those with him, even dance with the Devil despite all it will cost him.<\/p>\n

The pressure increased, making Nathan\u2019s breaths come short and gasping as he grew less and less able to struggle.\u00a0 \u201cWhat are you talking about? Jim\u2026he\u2019s the one with the powers.\u00a0 He\u2019s the changeling.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAh, yes, the chosen changeling to bring down the Veil,\u201d Malak said mockingly, chuckling to herself. \u201cI couldn\u2019t be certain when the right children would be born, you see, I only knew that one of them would be a changeling.\u00a0 Why do you think we take every<\/em> changeling into the Veil, Nathan? I had to be certain when I found my prize. But the key to knowing Jim was the one\u2026was you<\/em>.\u00a0 When I found you, when you made that deal to bring your brother home, you stood out like a beacon and I knew it was finally time.\u201d<\/p>\n

A shock jolted through Nathan\u2019s body, but it didn\u2019t make sense. Why did he matter? There was nothing special about him.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere you go again, Nathan, counting yourself so unworthy,\u201d Malak said like a reprimand, as she allowed her straying hand to touch the bare skin on Nathan\u2019s belly where his shirt had hitched up. \u201cIt was always going to be you, Nathan.\u00a0 I was waiting for you.\u00a0 It had to be a worthy match, a worthy pair, for everything to fall into place.\u00a0 How fitting for it to be brothers.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t have planned it more perfectly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nathan didn\u2019t want to hear this, all this preordained, you did everything just like we wanted bullshit.\u00a0 He was in control of his own life.\u00a0 That\u2019s why he left.\u00a0 \u201cBut why? What is it about me that is so damn important? Jim\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJim has the powers,\u201d Malak sighed, \u201cyes.\u00a0 As an Awakened changeling, he can control sidhe and humans alike and is immune to most ways either side might try to kill him.\u00a0 The perfect General<\/em> to be at our right hand.\u00a0 But not a king.\u00a0 To have true power\u2026you have to choose it for yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n
