\"kwHIlda<\/a>Where are you from?<\/strong> I grew up in the Alsace Region of France. \u2019Tis located in the north, bordering Prussia on the Rheine.<\/p>\n

Who is your greatest enemy and why?<\/strong> Men! They are all cunning, vile, murderers. <\/em>Every last one. Even the ones…who…who treat your children like precious…gems…<\/p>\n

Do you think you can ever reconcile with this enemy?<\/strong> Never<\/em>!<\/p>\n

Do you have a love interest?<\/strong> I-I did. At one time. [Sits tall. Stiffens her back] But no longer. He is lost to me…forever.<\/p>\n

What is your weapon of choice?<\/strong> That is neither here nor there. I use whatever means are available. A woman must be prepared to defend her and her own.<\/p>\n

What makes you happy?<\/strong> I shall never be happy. Ever.<\/em> At one time, I thought I\u2019d found contentment. But, alas, that was a lie as well.<\/p>\n

What do you think is your greatest weakness?<\/strong> I…I regret that on occasion I lose my tongue. My temper has cost me more than I care to admit.<\/p>\n

Name one person you admire.<\/strong> Pierre. [dabs her eyes with her handkerchief] I admired Pierre. But his lost to me…forever. Thus, I must rely on me! And only me<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Name one person you trust.<\/strong> I trust no one, and neither should you.<\/p>\n

Hilda squinted in the afternoon sun over the array of blooms that normally calmed her. \u201cLord Roche,\u201d she began. \u201cI cannot\u2014\u201d The words were more difficult to say than she\u2019d envisioned. Her knees shook beneath her skirts and she forced herself to move, lest she collapse. At the low terrace wall, she laid her hands atop.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease, your grace. I must apologize for placing you in such a precarious position.\u201d<\/p>\n

She glanced at him, his earnest expression tugging at her.<\/p>\n

He began to pace. \u201c\u2019Tis true. As I said, I am looking for a wife. But, I feel there is something truly special about you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her short laugh erupted at the irony. \u201cMe, special? Lord Ro\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI have not explained to anyone why I need a wife.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hilda paused.<\/p>\n

He stopped before her, captured her gaze. \u201cAnyone can see how much you love your children. Your face lights up the dark just saying Lady Pricilla\u2019s name.\u201d<\/p>\n

Something inside melted a little. \u201cOui<\/em>, Lord Roche. That is so. She\u2014they\u2014<\/em>are my world,\u201d she said softly. Steeling herself against long dead dreams, she straightened and her tone sharpened. \u201cThat changes nothing, sir.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you fear for your children?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery day,\u201d she bit out, feeling as if Gustaf still had his hand gripped about her throat, squeezing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve nothing to fear from me.\u201d<\/p>\n

She looked away from his gaze back over the garden. She almost believed him. But a woman was always <\/em>under a man\u2019s control.<\/p>\n

She was born in Presque Isle, Maine, grew up in Dallas, Texas but migrated to Boulder then Longmont, Colorado where she attended high school. Her college degree from the University of Central Oklahoma is a BA in Management Information Systems and vocal music minor.<\/p>\n

Kae is an active member of the Oklahoma Romance Writers. She also belongs to The Beau Monde, a historical Regency chapter, and the Dallas Area Romance Authors. She loves the NFL and holds NBA Thunder season basketball tickets, and Celebrity Attractions Broadway season tickets. She also adores musical theater, reading and writing, of course\u2014and just to round things out to scratch the singing itch\u2014karaoke.<\/p>\n

Kae lives in Edmond, Oklahoma with her musically-talented, attorney husband, Al.\u00a0 They have one grown daughter (who recently had her first baby) and one bossy cat, Carly, who acts as if she was the rescuer<\/em> rather than the rescue-ee<\/em>!<\/p>\n
