I\u2019m a bore. I\u2019ve been writing romance for the last sixteen years, have been published in numerous genres for as long, enjoying paranormal and contemporary romance mostly.\u00a0 I am an avid cigar and wine aficionado, kilt wearer, pipe smoking connoisseur, enjoy the finer things in life.\u00a0 I heard you were pretty fine\u2026<\/p>\n

Derrick, a former spy, has been asked to protect the sultry Sonja, a death metal singer whose magical voice grabs him by the balls and won\u2019t let go. He\u2019ll protect her, all right\u2026with every part of his body tight against hers.<\/p>\n

Sonja uses her voice to purge her fans of their darkness, their hate and hopelessness. But evil forces want to use her magic for their own ends. All she wants, at this point, is safety for herself and her band.<\/p>\n

When Derrick and Sonja team up, Sonja does her best to resist the lure of safety he represents, until a radical league that wants her dead propels her into his arms. Will his help be enough? Or will she lose her heart to him, only to be killed in the process of saving the world?<\/p>\n

\"siSlowBurn\"<\/a>Who is the villain or antagonist in your story and what is he\/she like?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The villain in Slow Burn is a bit of a surprise.\u00a0 She\u2019s based loosely on your typical prejudiced hate mongers but she came about as the main villain when I was writing the story due to a personal attack this woman levied at me.\u00a0 I thought the situation was ridiculous, my then girlfriend agreed, and I decided I was going to write this woman as the villain.\u00a0 She\u2019s vindictive, manipulative, but holds a sad secret in herself.<\/p>\n

What do you think are the heroic qualities your villain\/antihero\/supernatural creature possesses?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019d never call my characters in this book X-Altruists, but I would say that Derrick will do the wrong thing for the (greater) right reason.\u00a0 Sonja knows she\u2019s had to be her own hero for most of her life, so that\u2019s how she operates.<\/p>\n

Is there any respect between this character and the hero\/heroine of your story?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yup.\u00a0 Because my hero is an ex spy, there\u2019s a little bit of misdirection he throws at life in self-defense, now that he\u2019s retired.\u00a0 But the heroine, her life is the stage, the music and building relationships with fans and as a witch, she can use her powers to connect and help people.\u00a0 Derrick, the puma uses his abilities to help people, but he does it from the shadows.\u00a0 They balance each other out.<\/p>\n

Who is one of your favorite fictional villains (can be from a book, movie or television)?<\/strong><\/p>\n

You know?\u00a0 I actually have a soft spot for Furher King Bradley from Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood.\u00a0 Gustavo \u201cGus\u201d Fring, from Breaking Bad.\u00a0 I\u2019m a fan of Nucky Thompson from Boardwalk Empire, also.\u00a0 People sometimes consider him a villain.\u00a0 I consider him a businessman.<\/p>\n

To you, how important is a good antagonist?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s the key to the story\u2019s conflict.\u00a0 People read for the drama inflicted by characters on themselves yes, but without an outside force to point out the truth in issues, it\u2019s difficult to see from the character\u2019s POV.<\/p>\n

Who is one of your favorite fictional antiheroes?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019d have to say \u201cLuther\u201d from the BBC series, Luther.<\/p>\n

What is one of your favorite paranormal creatures and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m drawn naturally to wolves.\u00a0 The lonesome aspects, the shadow aspects, they remain prowlers in the darkness.\u00a0 All I\u2019ve seen in my life has been from the shadows (it\u2019s been my own choosing) and I prefer it that way.\u00a0 The wolf has one mate, a pack and is good.<\/p>\n
