Why do vampires make irrestistable anti-heros? They\u2019re usually brooding and somber, troubled, suave, cunning and treacherous, and yet we love them.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been a vampire girl since I was a kid.\u00a0 Nothing more exciting for me on TV or the movies than a vampire in the storyline.\u00a0 To me, they are uber sexy. I\u2019m attracted to their cultured airs of Old Europe Dynasties and superiority.\u00a0 Weird, I know, but we all have our tastes in heroes and heroines.\u00a0 The males make me swoon and the women, (yes women vamps) make me want to be them. I\u2019ve compiled a top ten list of my favorite screen vampires in modern culture to share with you.<\/p>\n

  1. Vampire Bill in Trublood<\/strong>. Bill Compton is a Civil War era southern gentleman. He\u2019s sexy, and yet, there is just this disconnect for me on the cool side as he\u2019s so . . . noble. Not as in nobility, but in just too nice.\u00a0 I liked him in the first seasons as Sookie\u2019s heart-throb, but he\u2019s number ten, at the bottom of the top ten list because he\u2019s so darned tame compared to the sensual and dangerous other vampires on this list.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. Selene\u00a0 in Underworld<\/strong>.\u00a0 She\u2019s so sleek and sexy, and she means business when she fights. Not a wimpy old world pet, she\u2019s a real butt kicker, yet she\u2019s beautiful and elegant. Too bad the ruling vampire, Craven, doesn\u2019t get that she\u2019s never going to become his arm candy to be elegantly dressed at his side like a pretty doll.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. Laurent in Twilight.<\/strong> Ok, you have to give the author and directors credit for giving us a sexy, appealing vamp with dreadlocks in Twilight. I liked him a lot, and didn\u2019t like it when they made him into the villain and killed him off in the second movie. Confronted with those deep, warm eyes, that smooth as silk French Creole accent, and yeah, if we met one day, I\u2019d swoon.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        1. Mick in the TV series Moonlight<\/strong>. This dude is so cool; a modern vamp who becomes a detective.\u00a0 I know it was done before with Forever Knight<\/em> in the 90\u2019s, but sexy Alex O\u2019Loughlin in a black leather jacket roaming the city streets to find bad guys was just the perfect set up. I could not believe this show got cancelled after only one season in 2007-2008.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          1. Olivia Godfrey in Hemlock Grove<\/strong>. Yes, another sexy, smart, dangerous vamp lady I would love to be. She has it all, the fear and respect of the town, a nice mansion, stylish clothes, cultured old world elegance and two teenage kids who loathe her. I like Olivia\u2019s classy way of managing everyone, and her devil may care attitude.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            1. Lily in The Munsters<\/strong>. I absolutely loved Lily Munster from the black and white 60’s TV show. I wanted to be like her with long black hair and long, flowy gowns, and those delightful black nails. Sometimes, I confess, I donned a long gown and pretended I was this elegant, serene and sensual lady who rules the\u00a0 Munster family behind the scenes.\u00a0 I\u2019m even named after her, or at least I\u2019d like to believe that.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              1. Garret in Twilight, Breaking Dawn Part 2.<\/strong> This guy, with his dark looks and his most beautiful dark brood factor captured my heart. I wish there were more to his story aside from fighting in the Revolutionary War. Would like to know how he came to be a vamp. And did vamps have a hand in the American Revolution?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                1. Dracula played by Gary Oldman<\/strong>. This version from the 90\u2019s has taken a lot of flack for story, actors, and other reasons. But, you have to admit that seeing Gary Oldman dressed in a grey Victorian suit and top hat, with long hair and circle shades to protect his eyes makes a really sexy villain. And the way he peers adoringly at Mina above those shades . . . a vampire to die for, literally. Bela Lugosi\u2019s suave charming Drac on the silver screen was pretty tame compared to the more realistic vampire violence depicted in this 90\u2019s upgrade.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                  1. Lestat by Anne Rice<\/strong>. Whether it\u2019s Tom Cruise in Interview with the Vampire<\/em> or Stuart Townsend in Queen of the Damned<\/em>, you gotta love this vamp. He\u2019s complex, and dangerous. Again, the cunning, dangerous beautiful creature woos my heart!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                    TOP PICK:<\/p>\n

                    1. Eric Northman in TruBlood<\/strong>. Yes, my top favorite vampire character in film media. Why<\/em>? Aside from the fact that I\u2019m part Norweigan, I found the idea of a tall, blond, vicious Viking turned into a vampire by a Roman unique and intriguing. Honestly, this 1000+ year old man has gone from being a brutal Viking to running a nightclub and being a regional vampire sheriff in modern Louisiana. His nightclub,Fangtasia, is where humans in Bon Temps go to hook up with Vamps. Eric is scary, really, truly scary. It\u2019s a cool, cunning kind of scary, like a beautiful snake quietly watching you from the garden hedge. That\u2019s the appeal–an incredibly beautiful yet dangerous creature that could give us the gift of eternal life and become our soul mate–that\u2019s why we love vampires to begin with and Eric Northman pulls that off the best of the ones I listed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                      Of course, this list will always change, as we are given new characters to fall in love with.<\/p>\n
