        I was being carried.\u00a0 Again.\u00a0 A part of me wanted to protest, but it seemed the part that was exhausted won out.\u00a0 I had fallen asleep on the drive home to the firehall.\u00a0 I was so tired I hadn\u2019t even woken up when Nash lifted me out of the truck.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t until he stopped on the outside landing and began to argue with Isaac that I roused.<\/p>\n

        \u201cThere must be a key in there.\u00a0 How hard can it be to find a key in that tiny bag?\u201d<\/p>\n

        \u201cI assure you, there is no key in here.\u201d\u00a0 Isaac sounded amused.<\/p>\n

        \u201cHey, what the hell are you guys doing rummaging around in my purse?\u201d\u00a0 I snatched the tiny clutch from Isaac\u2019s hands.<\/p>\n

        \u201cThe door is locked.\u00a0 We need your key.\u201d<\/p>\n

        \u201cJust knock.\u00a0 Tess or Holly will let us in.\u201d<\/p>\n

        \u201cThere\u2019s no one home.\u201d\u00a0 Nash was beginning to sound exasperated.<\/p>\n

        \u201cWhat time is it?\u00a0 Of course someone\u2019s home.\u201d<\/p>\n

        \u201cLook, it\u2019s almost 5 a.m.\u00a0 They\u2019re asleep, or no one is home.\u00a0 Where\u2019s your goddam key?\u201d<\/p>\n

        I frowned.\u00a0 Someone should be home.\u00a0 I thought Tess and Holly would be worried sick about me by now.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m a witch.\u00a0 I don\u2019t have a key.\u201d<\/p>\n

        I struggled in Nash\u2019s arms trying to get him to set me down.\u00a0 Finally he complied, setting me on my unsteady feet.\u00a0 I placed my palm on the door and nothing happened.<\/p>\n

        \u201cI don\u2019t understand.\u00a0 The door should have unlocked.\u201d<\/p>\n

        \u201cI believe that you have drained yourself to the point that you can\u2019t even do a simple hedge magic.\u201d\u00a0 Isaac looked at me, his eyes narrowed.\u00a0 Of course, my knees decided at that moment to give out on me again.\u00a0 I fell back against Nash who reached out to steady me.\u00a0 Isaac indicated that we should step aside.\u00a0 \u201cIf you will allow me?\u201d<\/p>\n

        I shrugged, not sure what he meant to do and took a step back bumping into Nash again.\u00a0 Isaac slipped a small wallet from the breast pocket of his suit and knelt down in front of the lock.\u00a0 He pulled out two small lock picking tools.<\/p>\n

        \u201cSeriously?\u201d\u00a0 Nash sounded affronted.<\/p>\n

        Isaac shrugged.\u00a0 \u201cOne should always be prepared.\u201d<\/p>\n

        \u201cGreat,\u201d Nash muttered, \u201ca vampire boy scout.\u201d<\/p>\n
