Interview with The Grim Spectre from the New Pulp novel, \u2018The Grim Spectre\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n Where are you from?<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI cannot say. Though those I oppose would tell you hell, while those I save would say Heaven.\u201d<\/p>\n What is your main purpose in life? <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cDefending the weak, and saving a city that is thought beyond redemption by its own inhabitants.\u201d<\/p>\n Who is your greatest enemy and why? <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cAny who rally against me, though right now my greatest foe is the gangster, \u2018Phylo Zeus\u2019 and those he would send to battle me.\u201d<\/p>\n Do you think you can ever reconcile with this enemy? <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThe only reconciliation involves him spending the rest of his life behind bars, or a more final, more definite ending.\u201d<\/p>\n Do you have a love interest? <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI am an avenging spirit from the beyond. That question is meaningless to one such as I.\u201d<\/p>\n What is your weapon of choice? <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cTwin 1911 .45 caliber pistols. A whip, custom made throwing knives, and of course, my \u2018shocking touch.\u2019<\/p>\n What makes you happy? <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cRidding a city under siege by evil of its parasites who continue to drain it of its very life.\u201d<\/p>\n Do you have a code of honor? <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cYes, it is complex.\u201d<\/p>\n What makes you angry? <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cSeeing the helpless preyed upon by evil, soulless men.\u201d<\/p>\n If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWell it wouldn\u2019t be my smile or gregarious sense of humor, I can tell you that. Perhaps my fashion sense? Yeah it\u2019s me, I gotta talk to ya. Somethin\u2019 just happened Benny, somethin\u2019 bad. I was in \u2018Little Nicky\u2019s\u2019 knockin\u2019 back a few wit\u2019 the boys. The place was packed an\u2019 the smoke in there, it was like pea soup-it was a good night. When the door busts open, like someone kicked it in, hard! An\u2019 standin\u2019 there in the doorway, framed in th\u2019 moonlight is this guy in a trench coat an\u2019 slouch hat. An\u2019 he\u2019s lookin\u2019 down, like at th\u2019 floor or somethin\u2019. Waddaya mean how could I tell? His hat was pointin\u2019 down, like his whole head was starin\u2019 at th\u2019 floor, that\u2019s how! Anyway, an this is the weird part, his trench coat was blowin\u2019 in from behind, like he was in the wind, but there weren\u2019t no breeze blowin\u2019 Benny. There was nothin\u2019. So\u2019s Big Mack, the bartender, shouts \u2018Hey! You comin\u2019 in or stayin out? Yer lettin\u2019 all the flies out.\u2019 An\u2019 all the mooks, they start laughin\u2019.<\/p>\n \u201cBut this guy? He ain\u2019t havin\u2019 none o\u2019 it. He just stands there starin\u2019. Then finally after everyone in the whole friggin\u2019 place stops talkin\u2019 an\u2019 is all starin\u2019 at the door this guy raises his head, and his face is still in the shadow o\u2019 the hat mind ya, but he starts to talk, an\u2019 in this voice like death over ice says \u2018Where is Joey DeLuca?\u2019 That\u2019s all he says, at least at first. Guys start grumblin\u2019 an\u2019 angrily mutterin\u2019 to themselves when he says it again, this time so loud mugs o\u2019 beer shatter all around the bar, I swear Benny, it was like a crack o\u2019 thunder, \u2018WHERE IS JOEY DeLUCA?\u2019 he says.<\/p>\n Author’s Bio<\/strong><\/p>\n Ralph L.
