With most holidays outlawed by the demons who have taken over the world, Valentine’s Day is celebrated in secret by those who still believe in the magic of love.
It’s Cupid and Bloodbloom’s first Valentine’s Day together, but will the vampire lovers find time to celebrate while continuing to fight against the demon masters?
Note: Secrets, Hearts, and Flowers is a very short m/m paranormal romance with an older alpha hero and a charming younger hero surviving in a dystopian world. It is part of the Pandemonium universe.
Excerpt:
“I’ll be leaving for a few days.”
Those simple words broke the beautiful moment. Cupid straightened and met Lance’s gaze. “Can you tell me where, or is it one of those things you can’t talk about?”
“I have a meeting with Blaxton Ward.”
The Sovereign Vampire of the USA. He kept law and order among all vampires in the country—not that vampires had many laws. For years, Lance had been a member of Blaxton Ward’s personal guard. It was Ward who had sent Lance to Baltimore to head the vampire rebels there.
Though Cupid had told Daisy Fay that he wasn’t into Valentine’s Day this year, knowing that Lance would be gone for the holiday upset him more than he’d anticipated. Secretly, he’d imagined them having at least some kind of celebration—maybe a special dinner with blood-laced wine and something chocolate for dessert. Then they could burn off the calories in the bedroom—not that vampires needed to worry much about calories.
“Is something wrong?” Lance asked, tracing a fingertip over Cupid’s jaw line.
“No.” Cupid stood and gathered their discarded clothes. “Just the usual. You know I miss you whenever you’re gone, but it can’t be helped.”
“I’ll miss you, too.”
No mention of Valentine’s Day.
Cupid was being silly. The world was teeming with demons. They were eyebrow-deep in the rebellion, and he was thinking about a day of chocolate hearts and flowers.
