Set in Victorian England, the Barnes Family follows the lives of former sea captain Jonah Barnes and his siblings. When their parents died, leaving Jonah to look after his brothers Max and Robert and sister Faith, he went to sea to support them. Later, he and his brothers become partners in a successful business, but tragedy while abroad burdens them with a dark family secret. While her brothers follow business opportunities, Faith becomes a published author and catches the interest of her wealthy and rebellious neighbor. Jonah develops feelings for his sister’s lovely companion, and Max falls in love with the somewhat mysterious governess he hires to care for his adopted children.
