Happy New Year! I can’t believe it’s 2024! I’m starting off the new year by re-releasing Captain’s Mercy. It’s a historical romantic suspense that features a curious heroine working in a rural home among strange characters, including a charismatic but grumpy former sea captain. Currently, I’m working on the sequel, Warrior’s Grace, that is due to release a bit later this year.
Wishing everyone the best in 2024!

When Mercy Brown accepts a position as companion to the sister of Jonah Barnes, a wealthy and rugged former sea captain, she has no idea that she’ll soon be entangled in their quirky family’s secrets.
Prowlers, disturbances from the attic, and eerie howls on the property are just the start. After meeting several strange members of the household, including a groundskeeper who works by night and the mischievous Maxwell Barnes, Mercy wonders if she should flee while she can. Her fondness for her young companion, Faith, and her deep attraction to Jonah prevent her from leaving.
Jonah’s mixed messages regarding his feelings for her leave Mercy confused. With encouragement from Faith, she begins her first novel, an erotic adventure featuring a hero modeled after Jonah. When pages from it go missing, she fears that her gruff employer will discover the nature of her feelings for him and possibly dismiss her. That might be for the best, because if she stays, her attachment to the Barnes family could endanger her life.
Note: Captain’s Mercy was previously published. It has been re-edited and includes two extra scenes after the main story. Captain’s Mercy is an opposites attract historical romance with suspense, some spice, and a story within a story.
Excerpt:
“Faith, wake up!” Mercy shook the young woman who shot to a sitting position, dropping the book that had been resting on the edge of the bed.
“What is it? What’s wrong?” Faith asked, her eyes wide.
“There’s a man outside. I have to wake your brothers.”
“A man? Are you sure it isn’t Michaels, or—”
“No! He was huge. Far taller than Jonah or Max. I think he’s the prowler.” Mercy stepped toward Faith’s window. Though fearful of what she might see, she peeked out, but saw no one. That didn’t mean they were safe. The giant could be anywhere.
“Faith, I’ll be right back—” She turned quickly and rushed to the hall only to slam into Jonah’s chest. This time she was too frightened to pay much attention to the fact that he was again half-dressed. Apparently he’d been in too much of a hurry to pull on a shirt.
He grasped her arms and shook her gently. “Miss Brown, what’s wrong? I heard one of you scream.”
“What is it?” Max demanded. He stood behind his brother, wearing a loosely belted robe and carrying a pistol.
“There’s a man outside,” Mercy said. “I looked out my window and he was standing right there.”
