Today’s excerpt is from my new release Shifters’ Sea. In it, Kai is taking Ivy back to her island home after rescuing her during a storm at sea, but when they arrive, they instantly know something isn’t right.

Excerpt:
All too soon, we near her island. Houses, shops, and a lighthouse make up the seaside village. Like my island, there’s a forest in the distance, and the island is large enough that I can’t see across it.
A few boats are docked in the small port. Several seals—Selkies, no doubt—lounge on a rocky beach, but despite the fantastic weather, no one, neither human nor seal, is in the water.
Ivy joins me in the helm, her brow furrowed.
“This is weird. No one is swimming or fishing, and hardly anyone is in seal form. I wonder what’s going on.” She squints toward the shoreline.

Ivy – When I left home to escape an arranged marriage to the leader of our selkie harem, I didn’t expect to be caught in a storm and hauled aboard an old tub by a gorgeous guy. Oh, I bet it’s that crazy cousin keeping people and selkies out of the water. Excellent snippet. Can’t wait to read more!
This sets the perfect tone of unease and dread. I myself hear the insistent beat from the opening music to Jaws! Tweeted.
