Grit, once a werewolf gladiator killed in the arena and brought back from the dead by a resurrection demon, is now one of the soulless. He has recently escaped his demonic captors with the help of Zari, a vampire warrior working undercover against the demons. She is one of the few who believe Grit can be trusted and has the strength to fight his connection to the demon who revived him.

“You can’t sleep?”
Grit turned sharply toward the doorway. Zari stood there, her long black hair hanging loose down her back and her dark gaze fixed on him. Her lean, sleekly-muscled arms were exposed in her sleeveless black tank tucked into black fatigues. Her
slender feet were bare and he had the strangest urge to lick them. Maybe it was one of his old wolf urges. Since rising from death, he couldn’t shift shape, and he had lost many pleasures of being a wolf. He had vague memories of keen senses, of enjoying the sensations in his body when he shifted shape. He knew he’d felt these things, but he couldn’t anymore.
“No,” he replied. “You couldn’t sleep either?”
A smile flickered across her full lips, revealing the tips of her small, white fangs. “I’m generally a night person.”
“Yeah. It’s part of the territory for you.”
Like the other huntresses from the tower, she was a vampire. He wondered if they called themselves huntresses to deliberately insult the wolves. Among wolves, huntresses were respected members of the pack — females who provided food and protection.
Vampire huntresses — employed by the demon masters — captured wolves and delivered them to the tower.
Yet Zari wasn’t truly a huntress. She’d tried to use her position to free the wolves, but it had gone wrong and now she couldn’t go back to the tower.

You always come up with such original twists on the old paranormal tropes, Kate. This series really sounds excellent.
I have not seen the werewolf/vampire theme done this way before. Love it!
